Lawson is going to face RTs 1v1 until he shows that he can beat that. If he can't, then the extra blocker will make the other three guys much less effective. I think you can get by with 1 strong interior rusher out of two, but you're DEs both have to be good for you to have a strong pass rush without blitzing.

That defense was great and I remember the Cleveland game. I think that the Browns actually had very close to 0 yards of net offense going into their last drive and I remember the bar I was watching the game at was in a fever pitch hoping that they could actually hold them to 0 for the game. But I also remember that the quality of the teams that they played that season was also pretty low until they ran into the Steelers.

Yup. Also, Barry Sanders is top 5, at least. Absolutely no way L.T. or Dickerson are ahead of him and probably not Gale Sayers or Campbell either.

I don't like reading all this "not a natural pass rusher" stuff. The Bills are in a division with Tom Brady and need everyone to be a strong pass rusher if they ever want to beat him before he retires.

I don't think the Bills need to pass more. They need to be able to pass when passing is necessary to win the game. That was the problem last season. All was well when they were dominating with the running game and had the lead, but trailing late in games spelled doom. They could also use a few more big plays from the passing game, but honestly I think that part would have been fine if they had Sammy all season.

What do you base this on? His time as a HC in Detroit was wildly unstable.

No one could have gotten more from an offense with Taylor at QB than Roman & Lynn did, IMO. There's only one way to go now.

I also recall many threads last season calling for Kouandjio to supplant Glenn as the starting LT and to move Glenn to RT. So that doesn't really sound like people who thought he was a bust. But I get it, now that he's not a Bill anymore it's time to crap on him. I do find it strange though that everyone who leaves sucked in the fans eyes and everyone who arrives is a great add... yet the team doesn't seem to improve from season to season.

Not with Hackett and that offense. If he would have brought it Greg Roman and then together with Whaley gotten Taylor and McCoy then I'd say yes. But I don't see how that was going to happen.

I agree with him 100%. The Bills should take heed and it looks like they may be. It seems like all you hear is about how so and so didn't practice or was limited but is "on-schedule" to be ready some day. Well, that's nice but it means that they aren't getting any better as players because they're not fully practicing right now.

Is Kouandjio really a bust? He was playing pretty well in a backup role last season. He is still very young and has some ability.

I sure hope not. This is a run oriented team. If Shady catches 50 balls then something went seriously wrong. Either Sammy and/or Clay got injured OR they threw it way too much because they were losing all the time.

Plus, it's yet to be seen in Lawson is even a starting quality DE.
