  1. Unfortunately, this sums it up perfectly....until the Bills prove they can beat the Pats it will be hard for them to be favored IMHO
  2. It would certainly send a signal to the rest of the AFC that the team is for real. I mean, look, if the defense plays to the top of their game and the offense protects the ball anything's possible.
  3. Had a great time at The Local in Pacific Beach. Great to meet Uticaclub and some of the other folks there. Of course the fact that the Bills won made it that much more fun. As the members of the San Diego Bills Backers say "Win or lose, its only 50 feet to the beach...."
  4. Does anyone know if PB Ale House still the official Bills bar in San Diego? Will be out there this weekend and hoping to catch the game.
  5. As offensive lines go, the Electric Company has to be top 10 all-time, right? Or did OJ just make them look that good?
  6. Julian Nunamaker - this was the fall of 1971 and my parents were building a house so we lived in an apt and Nunamaker lived across the hall. My parents gave him one of those footballs with two white panels which he took to practice and got many of the team to sign including OJ and Al Cowlings....
  7. You want old? How about: 5. Frogger 4. Tetris 3. Ms. Pac-Man 2. Pac-Man 1. Pong....
  8. My daughter's getting married next June and my son and I are desperately trying to convince her how cool this would be....the 70,000 drunks, the beautiful fall weather, probably TV coverage, likely less expensive than a real venue and reception at Hammer's ....so far she's not going for it....
  9. A one year work stoppage in the NFL (and I don't believe it will come to that) will have the same effect on me that the multiple MLB strikes and the NHL strike had on me - the NFL will then be dead to me. Couldn't tell you the last time I watched an NHL or MLB game. I stopped watching the NBA when the Braves left Buffalo. I'm basically down to following the NFL, college football and basketball and golf...
  10. I really enjoyed listening to Kelso's take on things. I also liked the fact that he stayed in WNY after playing (at least I think so - didn't he coach a HS team somewhere in WNY?). I always appreciate the guys who stay after they play for the Bills. Will be interesting to see how Woods meshes with Murphy.
  11. I was cleaning my parent's house out last fall and found a picture of the Congress from 1971 signed by Kemp and dedicated to my sister and me. We set it aside in the "don't sell" pile but somehow it ended up being sold at the estate sale. Literally this week, my sister got a call from one of my parent's old neighbors who said they had bought the picture but decided that we should have it back! What most impressed me about Kemp (and a couple of other Bills from the old AFL like Paul Maguire) is that they chose to stay in WNY after their playing careers. Really said alot to me about them and what they thought of WNY.
  12. good call - you forgot to mention the snow at the very bottom of your picture...that would have been some effort to put on winter clothes and sneak in snow to the stadium in Miami....if you did that then wow, just wow! :>)
  13. I agree, Nucci - and actually I care less about the record and more about making the playoffs - to me the team can "grow" and "progress" and Allen can show "development" but at the end of the day none of that matters if the team doesn't at least get into the dance. And once the team makes the playoffs it needs to be able to contend on a consistent basis. The only precedent I have is the teams of the mid-'80s through mid-'90s. Kelly joins the team, through drafts and some trades a core of great players comes together, the team finally makes the playoffs in spectacular fashion in '88 and the rest is history. The draft is very encouraging. Its a step in the very positive direction. At some point though the team has to put up or shut up...
  14. Not embarrassed at all - in fact when I do wear Bills (or Sabre's) stuff I usually run into someone from WNY which I always enjoy. What I have learned over the years is that it's very rare that the person isn't from WNY. And when they're not from WNY its usually someone who a) grew up during the glory years or b) had a relative/father/mother from WNY....
  15. Maybe that's why the Bills lost the Super Bowls - Ralph wasn't dipping his pen in the wrong ink wells.....just saying.....
  16. I predict that I'll make it to the 3rd quarter, the wings will run out and I'll go to bed.....it would be wonderful if NE lost.....
  17. Have to agree on George Saimes. What I did like about Kelso is that he never quit and always hit hard. I kinda liked his bubble helmet - reminded me of that cartoon character named Mr. Kazoo or something like that on one of the old cartoons from the 70's - maybe the Jetsons?
  18. for some reason, I can only picture Brady thinking about the Bills twice a year, right before they play each other....beyond that I cannot fathom any reason he'd think about any Bills record. Like it or not, he may very well be the greatest player ever - I didn't realize, until they said during the game this weekend, that in 17 seasons he's been to 13 AFC championship games. That really is incredible.
  19. Actually, I was thinking of Joe D. or Reggie McKenzie as the one I'd pick. Hull is a good pick though too. Anyway, I'd start with the O-Line. As I was sitting here thinking about this after I wrote my answer I wondered if there had ever been an "All Time Buffalo Bills" team announced. I figured if there had been it would have been for the teams 50th anniversary but when I googled it I didn't see anything. That would be a really interesting topic.
  20. Nope, have always equated the Green Bay/Milwaukee area as being similar fans, a similar type of hard-working, people as in WNY and so I actually find myself semi-interested in how GB does (except when playing Buffalo). For me, I have a much greater dislike for the NFC East teams mostly because three of four won SB's against the Bills and my wife's from Philly and have had to listen to her crap about the Eagles since last year.
  21. I went to NC State so would be happy to see Philip Rivers get to a Super Bowl and also would be happy if Frank Reich got back and won a SB with the Colts. But at the end of the day, so long as the Patriots* don't win it I'm fine.
  22. Geez, and I thought this was another attempt to get the board fired up about the Bills moving.....Doh.....but I digress.....all I know is it was the Houston Oilers who collapsed against the Bills in 1993 and I'm thankful for that.
  23. As a former WNYer I was thinking the collective scream that many WNYer's used to do at the first snowflake of the season....some were screams of happiness and some were not.....that would inspire any defence to make the stop...
  24. +1 and on top of that, you hear the same horn at just about every other stadium/sport it seems.....maybe they can come up with something unique to Buffalo.....
  25. No, I mean three seasons from now - figure next year both teams show promise, maybe one of them makes the playoffs but bow out before the championship game, next year they both make playoffs, neither advances to the championship, year three (2021) they face each other in the AFC championship....but look, if it can happen next year so much the better.
