I enjoy watching the trenches so will enjoy the All 22. Since we didn’t hear anything about missed assignments, and of course the well needed catch, it sounds like a nice start. Prior to the season, the notion was that him vs. A. Anderson will provide more flexibility. Not that AA didnt do his job before this year, having an athletic, hard nosed power TE has value. I look forward to seeing how Brady will weave him more and more into the offense.

Good for them, and hope they enjoy it. One of my best friends transplanted from Tampa to Denver several years ago. As far as the new Bills Stadium, I’m elated our culture will not change, but improve. Cutting out a ton of the elements, controlling wind, and a state of the art stadium is great, yet its still feels like Buffalo.

Whoever left stadium early needs to….
BobbyC81 replied to Riverboat Ritchie's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only game I ever left early was in the winter of ‘96. It was so cold that the vendors ran out of hot chocolate in the first quarter. The Bills were up big on the Jets, me in from California, my brother and wife from Texas, so we got the hell out of there in the 4th Quarter. Even my nephews who live there wanted to leave. -
It can’t factor in the effect Henry has on a defense and how the QB benefits, or the effect having Andy Reid scheming up plays has on your performance… Eye test is enough. If stats were everything, Lamar would have won MVP

For this game, I almost wish the Bills get the ball first with the opportunity to score a touchdown and put the Jets on their heels. I think an opening drive touchdown would put added pressure on the Jets to “keep up” - knowing that if they don’t score they can easily be down 14 by the end of the first quarter. Most opponents don’t have the patience to “stick” to the run and instead quickly turn one dimensional, which helps the Bills lean into their base package and tee off on the pass rush.

It's just an outdated mathematical number Obviously having a number in the hundreds is better than a number in the 70s or 80s But it's far from perfect, same with QBR These ratings have flaws
-
It's mostly an efficiency metric and seems to heavily weigh yards per attempt, so it makes sense that Lamar was rated higher. It doesn't measure clutchness or the quality of your throws and is no substitute for the eye test.

30 point penalty for having arm arrogance.

To be fair, every CB looks like dump against Josh.

passer rating is a dinosaur

A few Random Thoughts After the Ravens Game

Open in the sense that if you have one of 3 or 4 particular QBs, yeah he’s open. -
I just like to let my eyes tell me everything I need to know about a performance on the field. I’m still treating my NFL viewing experience like it’s 1987, before we needed nerds with calculators to tell us who is better than who.

Josh ......112.0 Lamar....144.4 Josh is passing against a secondary loaded with first round picks, whilst Lamar is picking on a combination of rookies/sophomores and athletically limited DB's. Lamar also has the benefit of a generational monster RB that allows him to pass in situations where the box is stacked. Josh also passes for 180 more yards and with a similar completion percentage. And yet - somehow Lamar has a substantially better passer rating. I don't get it.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – I Never Leave Early
LABILLBACKER replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completely agree....analytically it made no mathematical sense to go for 2 with the score 27-19? He took 3 Xpts off the board. -
Ever since I saw the Dodger fans in the parking lot on TV while Kirk Gibson was doing his epic home run trot, I've vowed never to leave early. The only exception was on a baseball trip in St. Louis where it started to rain like I need to build Noah's Ark, and I needed to drive after the game to KC. It rained so hard that the driving was difficult. But somehow the skies parted and the game resumed, went into extra innings, and I'm listening to it on the car radio. @Shaw66, I had no doubts about you staying. You're a stalwart!

Bills sign a new punter!! Welcome Cameron Johnston

Why? Is there something wrong with Prater's pelvis? -
I am glad I live in the pacific time zone. When I was stationed in Georgia it always tripped me out how late the games were on sunday/Monday. Just used to living out west. I assume the folks doing the most shaming are children, retired, or have white collar jobs that don't start until after 9am (thats like sleeping in for people who actually make society run).

Every week people here find a reason to have a "bad feeling about this game." They do but at least we got 1 weeks worth of tape of their new look offense and defense. We will be ok. Fields is no Lamar. I also don't think Pitts defense is the same standard as their defense of the past.

A few Random Thoughts After the Ravens Game
QLBillsFan replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the bigger Ravens mismanagement was on not using the full clock in the 4th. They were snapping with ten seconds left on several occasions. That’s certainly on LJ, but Harbaugh has to own that as well. -
I loved John Candy. Some great movies, like Stripes, Planes Trains etc. But my favorite role was as The Schmenge Brothers, where they introduce themselves, each pronouncing Schmenge in a different way. Subtle humor, but it really got me. Yosh and Stan - Rick Moranis the other Schmenge bro, IIRC. That was on SCTV, and then a final movie The Last Polka.

A few Random Thoughts After the Ravens Game
Special K replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
If the Ravens called the timeout at 15 seconds, they could have Josh roll out to right, hold it as long as possible, then just chuck it out the back of the end zone. That would waste 8-10 seconds....the FG would waste another 5 seconds, so depending on how many seconds Josh could waste before throwing it away, the game would expire on the FG, or there would be 2-3 seconds left...only enough for a crazy lateral kickoff return play.
