Time to Rebuild? Too Many Beane Holes.
L Ron Burgundy replied to OutOfBubbleGum's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dont see positives in McDermott. I think we already got all he has to offer. Team building, picking us up out of the gutter. I know there's no proof but I would guess he has a lot of influence on draft picks. If we didn't have Josh staying the course would be fine. Not getting a superbowl with him would be a crime though. And our guys in charge simply aren't good enough. All this and I'm betting we win a playoff game this year anyway. -
This is the biggest fault I have for him. Look, in theory I do get it. We hear it at every end of season presser he does. To paraphrase: "We don't feel we are far off. We had a few key injuries, a few young guys in there and we still were two or three plays away from winning". He's right. We get close every year. And being close puts in his mind that if we "run it back" and make a few tweaks, we will accomplish the goal. It's not a horrible train of thought. But to run it back, he only sees the positives taking place. - Injured players will return and be at full health. - All young/developing players will take a step forward - Zero older player will regress. In the real world however, it doesn't always play out the way he plans. And while Beane is focused on beating his White Whale in the playoffs (Kansas City), other teams have rebuilt, caught up and passed us. For YEARS, Beane has gotten to rest on his laurels because we get the guaranteed path to the playoffs with the AFCE title. Easy peasy, right? We're in and then anything can happen. Times are changing. The division, at least in this season, runs through New England. Beane likes to say "the playoffs show you exactly where you need to improve" or something like that. Well, what about not making the playoffs altogether? Houston, right behind us with a tie breaker. Kansas City can always rip a win streak and Baltimore is back healthy with momentum. There's a real chance that after the final week we are on the outside looking in.

Yeah but he sets the edge. Yeah but he blocks well. Yeah but he plays special teams. Its a theme.................. -
Every day it is more and more clear that if not for Allen McBeane would not have lasted more than a few seasons.

It seems you've missed the very obvious point of the post. I'm not saying the Bills won't make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl. I'm saying watching the games is not as much fun as it once was. People seem to agree. Step down from your ivory tower and realize that this has nothing to do with self-worth. Of course it has to do with happiness... this is a team and sport that we all dedicate time to and we want to watch our team win. Of course we don't feel neutral while the once in a lifetime quarterback of our favorite team is pile driven into the ground and writhing in pain. You know the most ironic part of your post? You say "we" when describing the Bills several times and still act holier than thou when describing "a team you aren't on" ... good lord. I hope you've considered therapy as well, because "we" are openly expressing frustration and that's perfectly fine.

Well I assume they watched him in college rather than just looking at the stats lol. He was always this player and has only gotten better at rushing the passer in the NFL. It was a very well known part of his scouting report in college that he mostly feasted off of the pressures that his teammates generated (and was legitimately good at rushing the passer when he lined up as the DT on 3rd downs but that's not what we drafted him for). Again, it's a valuable skill set to have, but he's never been a guy you expected to just go out and win on the edge. -
I have. I think almost nothing would rejuvenate the fan base more than bringing in fresh blood and a second set of eyes regarding this team. I can't imagine how low the overall mood and level of enthusiasm will be if we decide to run it back again with the same philosophy and players.

How many wake up calls does this team need? Brady refuses to change from his overwhelming five man protection scheme love, even when Allen is getting killed. Falcons beat him up. Dolphins beat him up. Texans almost buried him six feet deep. Eric Wood told a story about how Marrone wouldn’t give help against JJ Watt because he said he won’t change his entire gameplan for one person. Thats literally what Brady is doing out there this year.

President Trump's 2nd Term.
Joe Ferguson forever replied to B-Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And people who didn’t cheer either of those are upset as well. To wit, recent approval polls. if by the midterms, maga candidates see him hurting more than helping their campaign, they’ll abandon him. -
I doubt McDermott does more than make his philosophy known to Brady. The individual calls are up to Brady. IO do think Brady gets cute in his play calling at bad times on occasion.

It's unbelievable how much money is being paid out to unproductive players. They are all playing hurt, out injured entirely, or suck. -

We do not do well against teams we are supposed to beat.

Yes, it may just come down to this. There's a lot of parity in the league and if you aren't ready to play you're not going to skirt by with a half-assed effort, even against the worst teams. Throw in injuries and a couple of key bad matchups (Dolphins and Falcons running games; Houston's ends and CBs) and you can end up with ugly road games like we've seen over the past six weeks. -
Tehran Bone Dry and Tapping Out Beege Welborn This has been running under most news radars, but it's literally a catastrophe for the mullahs. After decades of mismanagement, illicit drilling, and indulging the citizens of the capital at the expense of the poorer rural areas, Iran is rapidly depleting what few water resources it has left. Exacerbated by six continuous years of drought, the situation is so dire that the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has said the capital city of Tehran might have to be 'evacuated' before winter. Even if such an extreme move does not prove to be immediately necessary, Pezeshkian has said, Tehran cannot continue in its current place and form. The area will not sustain any further human occupation or development. The pressure on the regime, unlike the wilting pressure in the taps, is enormous. The last water crisis precipitated violent street protests at a time when the government was in a much stronger position. This time, should street explosions begin, the outcome could be very different. https://hotair.com/tree-hugging-sister/2025/11/21/tehran-bone-dry-and-tapping-out-n3809155 .

A Few Thoughts about the Texans Game - Community Edition
ngbills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sadly this year will go down as a huge blown opportunity. The AFC is wide open as ever when you have KC, BAL, and CIN all just fighting for playoff spots. The #1 seed was there for the taking and this team has lost to 3 teams not even in the playoffs. The schedule is so easy that we have only played two teams currently in the playoffs. The trade deadline was a complete failure as it was obvious the team needed reinforcements. Beane and his ego refuse to admit he has any flaws in the roster he built. He celebrates getting his home grown mediocre players re-signed. We have coaches that cannot adjust or just make the same mistakes over and over. It is trickling down to the players who most of the time barely have a pulse. Josh is starting to look like he would rather be somewhere else than a football field, and you cant blame him. Josh will never say it but I think he is frustrated with the scheme, talent and decisions being made around him. I dont know where we go from here. Sometimes it feels like they are just trying to get to the new stadium and there is no urgency. I have heard life is more than football more times than I care to hear. -

If you want to say, for example, that they spend too many resources on defense then that is broader strategy and both of them have their hands in the blood on that. If you want to say "Kaiir Elam was a bust" or on the flip side "James Cook is a stud" that is on Brandon Beane. -

This off season Beane has his work cut out for him and its self induced. Everyone knows we need a receiver. We are currently over the cap. Guys not signed for next year: Just the DL Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan, AJE. Linebackers Milano, Shaq. Secondary Tre, Cam, Ingram, Poyer Potential Cap casualties, Knox, Samuel(god willing). OL McGovern not signed. Other guys like Moore, Guy you might want to upgrade from Rapp. Man thats a lot to replace with not much money and a draft. Hoecht and Carter will be coming back from achilles injuries. Thats going to have to be one hell of a draft next year and we're going to need those guys do more than "flash". I think we have seen peak Beane and the curve will be on the down slope. -

Actually I am using my eyes, while you guys are relying on a stat sheet and depending on broadcasters to tell you what's happening. And he made multiple plays of note last night if you had actually been using your eyes instead of relying on other people to tell you what's up. -
the defense really has been all-around okay for all the injuries, IF you look at the totallity of the numbers. problem is, they get torched the entire first half of the game. setting a weird tone for how the offense tries to react and respond. the defense turns it around at halftime, but the tone has often been set already by that point.

So, in your opinion, it would be better to fire a coach knowing any replacement you hire will not be as good as the one you just fired? -

big time. to me edmunds and groot are premium talents, more so edmunds but at a lower value position. neither are perfect and both are somewhat limited, but size strength health and length can't get coached. if you didn't know football and just went to some function and saw the guys in shorts and ts doing athletic stuff, edmunds and groot and allen (and spencer and some other guys) would stand out as big tall long giant athletic guys. you can build on plus athletes if you throw in a game changer or two, and they don't get blown off the ball or crushed like say our lbs or 7 do on every 3rd play.
