If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Ayjent replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not as worried about White as the Safeties. White is a smart player that understands where he needs to be and how to play things. His physical abilities just aren't where they used to be. He will be a serviceable starter until Hairston is ready to start. Bishop better have just been rusty with being out and then limited, because they can't be happy with what they saw against Chicago. Hamlin is what he is, a guy that is limited in range and coverage and makes the D vulnerable and have to play differently. I think the Bills will be very actively looking for someone they can sign. Bishop just looks like a guy that doesn't have it, and I know that seems premature, but I've not seen a single thing from him that looks promising in any game he's played. Usually you can see the talent even if there are things that are clearly not up to par. I'm not seeing it. I'm not really sure why McD's defense puts such a high emphasis on the S position being so difficult. It just makes replacing people difficult. D is a lot of instinct and if you have guys overthinking things it can definitely cause them to look lost and mitigate what they may be good at. So could that be the case with Cole, maybe? Hopefully...but I don't think so. And here is the thing I see, which I admit I may be wrong about because I don't know what goes on everyday behind the scenes: you have what you have, and sometimes you have to make do and find ways to optimize it. Sometimes it feels like that isn't happening enough on the D side. It's very scheme primacy, rather than talent primacy. I think they do a ton of good things with player development, but also I feel like the talent is sometimes there and they are a little stubborn in how they want to use it. Again, just trying to figure out how there are misses in what Beane and co do on draft day with such high picks and what happens from there on the D side. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2

1st rd safety just should not happen. Sign someone thats not dumpster diving for value. Upper middle end of money, and get it done with. Im not ready to give up on him yet but if he doesn't come around this season, thats the move -
Theoretically he wouldn't be the #2 guy and would be used somewhat differently, more like Mack Hollins was last year, who, coincidentally, showed up for the KC game. Not sure who in the current WR room besides shakir are going to do that.

I wouldn't use a redraft as a good template because there's very few picks you wouldn't redraft with hindsight. That being said of course after year one and some pre-season games you really can't judge a rookie class. You can't really have a fully painted picture until year 3. But even just looking at the "early returns" the 2024 class is looking not bad at all. Keon and Davis were solid offensive contributors their rookie years. Even Bishop started games his rookie season and wasn't bad. Grable, Solomon, and SVPG all flashed potential as back end finds as well. I think the class is going to hinge on can Keon and Davis take a step up and have bigger roles on the offense, can Carter or Bishop be a starter or high end rotation player, and can a couple of the back end picks emerge as solid depth/role players? If they get 2 starters and 3-4 depth pieces and role players out of a draft class where they drafted late and traded away a pick for a 4th in the next years draft that is a positive draft class.

A deep threat who can block is ideal. Too bad that person is Gabe Davis though

Ciarlo has popped many times. He is my sneaky pick for making 53

nope. bullies are not funny. yes, crudeness and rudeness are "part of the territory" of the US now. Doesn't mean we have to like it or submissively accept it. They didn't get my heart rate or blood pressure up. I knew there are many like them out there. It was good to put faces on a few. They are largely who I thought they'd be - angry young men. Call it a sociology experiment... -
He makes Josh worse.

I’d be totally fine bringing him back on a cheap-ish deal. I think I’d rather see them try to find a way to bring in Justin Simmons though (who is still a free agent), especially since he specifically said he’d love to play for the Bills. Even just on a 1 year deal for now to see how he fits, and to give Bishop some more time to develop. Simmons/Rapp would be a nice safety duo.

Overreactions to Preseason games
Rich Stadium Original replied to Ya Digg?'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I think over the last few seasons, fans have seen playoff losses partly due to having some bad depth at certain positions ( see Chiefs game--Bills linebackers/secondary) I think most everyone has confidence in the Bills starting lineup, and that the team will do well IF THEY STAY HEALTHY. That preseason game may be doom and gloom for some in that for key positions, they can see just how bad some backups are...and don't want a repeat playoff performance and elimination. -
I have no idea who this man is

Bills hosting Gabe Davis for visit

It’s august 19th. It’s not going to cost anything and it’s not going to come at the expense of anyone that matters. It’s not a bad idea here. -
@Joe Marino spotlighted him on the Locked on Bills podcast this morning.

No. Next draft will be all safety and DL. We'll pick up some scrap heap WRs in FA that everyone will lose their minds over in the offseason only to see in preseason games why they were on the scrap heap

I think it's an indictment of our system more than anything. Tampa 2 with overly sensitive reads and complex schemes makes it hard to digest and process in real time. -
I’ll be very upset if we re-sign Gabe Davis. The main reason Josh’s interceptions decreased was that he was no longer throwing to Davis, who was the target resulting in most of his interceptions. This would be worse than bring back Hamlin
-
The Bills need more players who play big in big games. That's Gabe Davis. There's zero reason not to do this
-
Ya, but multiple times exist where Allen and Gabe weren't on the same page resulting in INT's or failed conversions. Gabe is not a good WR and our consideration to bringing him on the roster is a direct reflection of our talent. Tory Horton lasted until the 5th round and we didn't even deem it necessary to take flyer. The Beane love on this site has just gone too far. This roster is depleted at WR, DB, and is finger crossing at DL.

I don't know if he's even healthy enough to play yet. When he visited Pittsburgh earlier this year he didn't pass their medical checks. I hope we are bringing him in just to do our due diligence in case we need him in an emergency situation later in the year. The offense immediately became more efficient and less mistake prone when Brady took over and started diverting targets away from Davis. I have very little interest in bringing his high variance play style back into the fold. I guess if he's used in a very very limited role I'd be okay with it.

Bills hosting Gabe Davis for visit

How about the colts playoff game? How about the 13 seconds game? Those games happened. In season altering spots Josh went to Gabe. Let’s be real here. Diggs and Josh looked like they weren’t on the same page at the end too…we going to act like they didn’t have chemistry? -
Ironically, Gabe is a guy no one seems to want. Remove the injury plagued year last season and he is more productive than Palmer and Moore who everyone seems to want. If Gabe is willing to play teams I'm all for it. Even not he does all the little things blocking wise Moore does not.

One of these years we'll have a good offense!
