I am surprised, given the love of Doug Flutie in Bills Mafia, that he is not on anybody's list. Don't get me wrong, I do not think he deserves to be there, but I thought someone would suggest he should be there.

President Trump is Quite the 'Deal-Maker'
Doc replied to BringMetheHeadofLeonLett's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Ukraine's always been effed. Maybe one day they'll realize that... Iran shot their load. Israel however has more in store if need be. The Constitution's fine. Yes, by rioters. It's starting to resemble the Summer of 2020, which is squashing it quickly is in the best interest of everyone. And you must have missed the previous 4 years. -
Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
QCity replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Voided guarantees, now there's an oxymoron. Just give him the standard rookie contract. There wasn't any issue last year with Mims at #18. This seems like a very, very petty battle to pick. -
I think he is here to help develop our DB's

I mean anything is possible, but I really don't think this has much chance of happening without a slew of injuries making it happen personally.

I’m more of the opinion that Iran will be Iran and they can never be trusted. So I don’t out this on Trump. But reading Trumps rhetoric today, he just constantly goes to the biggest threat he has. The boldest language. Yet nobody ever seems to give a crap. As I have said before, you can’t always go all in. People will eventually see most the time it’s bluffing. I’m concerned this will eventually back his ego into a corner and he will make an overly aggressive action to compensate for all the previous threats nobody took seriously. His posturing is eventually going to cost him and us.

It had nothing to do with Bernard being hurt. They were giving everyone a shot with the 1's in a completely open competition. My stance is, like Gunner said, they most likely want Hairston to be that #2 CB. But they don't want to overwhelm him and the other Rookies, who just got the Playbook. So they're starting Hairston out slow and putting White out there for the time being. So his being with 1's now seems more circumstantial. There's lots of guys running with 1's in June that aren't going to be Starter's. Forrest, through circumstance, ran with 1's at times and I think he's a longshot to make the team. I also think, given how he looked last season, they also wanted to test where White is at by putting him against the toughest competition. And the results didn't seem great. I think Training Camp and the Pre-Season are a different animal than Non-Contact June OTA's. I believe even if Tre responded better than he did in OTA's that Hairston is going to run with the 1's in August. I doubly think that given the reports of Tre's performance. I don't want to make it seem like I'm bashing Tre. I am rooting for him and would like to see my penciling him in on the 53 turn to ink. But yesterday didn't seem like he was all that much better. He was in position to make a tip drill pick. But he still was getting beat. All of this to say that I think OP's take that running with the 1's in June secures his spot on the Roster is putting the cart before the horse.

I feel like there is. whats the line about having 2 of the top 32 pass catchers in almost every Super Bowl team? How many of those guys were signed in FA vs were drafted or traded for? Off the top of my head, guys like Hill, Brown, Kittle, Aiyuk, Smith, Kelce, etc etc. I’d imagine next to none of them were Josh Palmer or Curtis Samuel tier FAs that got their best seasons at the right time, right?

I'm not a fan of the money given Samuel or Palmer either......but I also wouldn't say that they had "next to no chance" to be a top 32 receiving option when signed. The figure to aim for is 60 yards per game. That gets you inside that top 32. Samuel hit 57 ypg in 2020 playing for Joe Brady...........so while you and I might see him as a sunk cost now........you can see the logic in thinking he could be a little better with Josh Allen. Palmer had 58 ypg in 2023. As a precise route runner who gets separation he sorta fits the profile of Brown, Beasley and Diggs.......players who did get a bump playing with Allen. But those were their BEST seasons. I'm the guy who always reminds @JerseyBills that when you sign Trent Sherfield you tend to get something close to the average Sherfield season and not the single outlier. But in the end..........the cost of trying to back door your way to a very good 60 ypg option in free agency appears to be about 1/4 of the real cost of paying a 90-100 ypg WR1 (if you could get one). That really doesn't seem all that out-of-whack if you believe that individual passing game talent is much more important than individual running game talent. Which it is. JAG RB's can run for 1,000 yards with good blocking. WR is more of an island spot so that individual production means more. And as far as focusing on the draft over paying top dollar to retain or acquire WR talent..........I don't think there is a clear succeed/fail correlation there. Your argument needs that to be convincing.

I didn’t realize all these teams knew what those guys were gonna do AFTER they gave them contracts lol. What a strange way to evaluate a market. If Brandon Beane had paid Palmer $30M AAV, maybe he turns into the next JJ.
