No - they'll be there. The AFC is not strong. They're still a great team.

I get that it's a division game, but I'm starting to think the Pats hype is a bit out of hand - both here & nationally. It just seems like a lot of that is based on scoring 42 last week. And some thought the Panthers had turned a corner because of their previous week. But that's a bad team. I watched the highlights - it almost looked like they hadn't practiced this year. The special teams play was abysmal, and Young didn't look like a pro QB. The Pats lost to Pittsburgh & the Raiders. If a guy doesn't step out of bounds by an inch or so, they would have lost to Miami. We're a mile better than them, we're at home, we usually play great in primetime, and we're coming off of a somewhat lackluster effort which should be motivating. I still think the jury is out on Maye. He plays great when the line protects him. Any team that can get pressure on him can cause turnovers, and I think our line will keep great pressure on him all day. Their O-line is weak in a few spots.

It's just way too early to say. Only 4/17ths through the season, a lot can still happen.

Hailed as 1 of the best POTUS in recent history even with his promiscuous sexual escapades and yet he is so different from the orange man in what ways only that the times then were different than they are now . Even though his actions are basically the same and his platform on illegal immigration is almost identical to the orange man Trump is the villain for doing exactly what he did ... I'll bet you won't hear much from those with TDS that usually mouth off here on this post !!!!

Yes to all of this... someone needs to reimagine this defense looking at the players we have... I do not want McDs philosophy any more... attacking defense.. punishing... you get beat... so what you got Josh... our slow retreat defense that relies on turnovers and hopes to hold teams to FGs... fine in the regular season... has not got it done in the playoffs... if we run this back to the playoffs in the same lane I would suggest we probably get the same result we have gotten for 5 or 6 years.

NOW is Bobby Babich's seat hot?
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, that is what I was hoping for, to see the same turn around the Eagles had last year on defense, going from one of the worst in the league, to the best and NFL champions. Yeah, it took them a bit to get their footings, hit their stride, but they never looked like this and the fundamental problems we see. I am not basher, like you and yours, and have never been. Kind of like what I have found my whole life, such as when the biggest liars always call everyone else liars etcetera. You seem to have freezers full of pounds of flesh that you have tried to extinguish over the years. What can I have against Babich? The only thing is that he seems to be undermining our defense, running it into the ground which may break the team. -
IMO, tackling at this point IS a coaching issue. I cannot accept that these guys made it through High School ball, College ball, and got drafted into the NFL without knowing how to breakdown and tackle. This is a scheme/attitude issue. I believe another big part of it is McD's notoriously soft practices. These guys dont tackle at all until the games start. Open field tackling is an art, and these guys are a bunch of preschool finger painters right now. Watch the tape of the Detroit Lions spies on Lamar. Amazing breakdown techniques and they tackled him in the open pretty much every time.

trump has radical ally changed his view on a government shutdown. He previously blamed the president for a shutdown. Now he seems to view it as a weapon.
-
yep - I see it this way too. This will be a tough game just like the Miami and the NO games were. Cripes - people were saying "rest our starters at half" for the Saints game. The Pats are the best team we face since Balt in week 1. It won't be easy but I do think we will be disciplined enough to win. and a Pats fan can...ahem.. check notes and say "are you afraid of Palmer/Moore/Coleman" just as easy as we can pick apart their bottom feeders. They have a great TE, they have 2 very good WR's if Diggs shows up. Good coaching. Good lines. Gonna be a game bud... get ready! GO BILLS!
-
They don't need him to be a superstar but a real threat would be nice! It only works because Josh has to play at a super human level. We have several quality receivers but nobody that scares you and no guy on the boundary we can depend on when we need a big play. Hoping Coleman progresses further and quickly or once again its going to be all on Josh. Will we stack regular seasons wins? Sure. But not sustainable to go on a Super Bowl run in this conference. Coleman has shown flashes but he's got to be way more consistent to take the next steps. He's nothing more than a marginal starter at this point, that's the truth and I was a huge fan of his coming out of college.

Strong chance Ravens miss playoffs?
Royale with Cheese replied to TFBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Their defense was struggling mightily before the injuries. Now they might be without their starting QB. This will be a struggle for them to make the playoffs. -
You're confusing @Einstein and @Einstein's Dog

Firing just the DC and leaving McD in place will almost guarantee an internal promotion and running the same crappy scheme. So to answer your 2nd question first, yes its likely we promote Al Holcomb. To your first question... It absolutely shouldnt be Al Holcomb. It should be an outsider who can run their defense on their own, much like McD lets the OCs do their thing without a ton of influence. Need to find the next Spags/Fangio/Lebeau type of guy who had a crack at HC, but now just wants to punish Offenses until he retires.

Strong chance Ravens miss playoffs?
ChevyVanMiller replied to TFBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
A scarier thought is the Ravens hang on long enough to get 10 wins and sneak in as the last wild card, while getting healthy at the end of the season. Then the Bills, as the #1 seed, might still have to beat them and KC to reach the Super Bowl. -
I spent the better part of yesterday looking at the all-22. They are doing a bunch of things that I didn't see last year. They are bringing 7 guys to the line and having 3 drop into coverage. On one play, Bosa dropped into coverage. They are also playing with 9 guys in the box more often than they did, where Taron Johnson plays more like a 3rd LB than a CB. And there are most certainly a lot of other things that I don't see. The upshot of it is that they are trying some new things and the guys don't seem comfortable out there. And that does fall on coaching. But the Bills are not unique in this. Last year, the Eagles and Ravens had some new players and scheme elements on defense and it took half a season for them to come together. The 2024 Ravens had a pass defense as bad as our run defense for the early part of the season, but then they made a few minor adjustments and it tightened up. But if what you want is not improvement but your pound of flesh, hope for losses in these next two going into the bye. That'll get Babich fired.

Strong chance Ravens miss playoffs?
RochesterLifer replied to TFBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Ravens are a good team and a strong organization going through difficult times. I expect they will get healthier, claw their way back, and crawl into the playoffs. They will be coronated "the team no one wants to play." Then, 😁 we will beat them by 14. -
Who cares - It's the Colts we need to worry about! sarcasm..... with our D.. we are lucky to beat KC. sarcasm.....

Keon ran a great route. It wasn't on him at all.

Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF
Fan in Chicago replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldnt say the board is frightened as much as acknowledging that the Bills will have their hands full especially with the defensive woes and lack of big play ability on O. The Patriots will be a good health check before we get into the real fights with the teams you mentioned. Of course we have the better chance to win but Vrabel can craft a plan to give us fits. I think this is good. We have been coasting through the AFCE lately and a little challenge will be a good thing. -
Since we've already made these our things, why drop them now? I despised table jumping at first because it made Bills fans look like drunken morons. But now I love the odd uniqueness of it. I hated Zubaz at first, too, and now I own a pair because it's the Billsy thing to do. I don't want the Bills to devolve into every other fanbase. IMHO, all the things that set us apart, including btw the immense charity giving, should be sustained and embraced.
