I do wonder if Brady will be "picky" with a head coaching spot or not? There's only 32 of these jobs and only 4-9 usually come open a year. But not all opportunities are good ones either. Ben Johnson after 2023 was red hot but he came back with the Lions and now he found himself about as good a situation as he could in the Bears (young QB with 3-4 years left on their rookie deal, good cap space, solid draft pick position, and not bad talent overall). Brady was in the mix on a lot of coaching spots but never seemed to be in on the "better" opportunities. Long ways away from that but fans can't help but speculate.

Bills Defense, will it get better as season goes on
BillsShredder83 replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wonder if were tinkering with philosophy, since we brought in a few new coaches with different scheme backgrounds. Could be were seeing a learning curve from some of the guys like Benford, Milano, Bernard. Honestly I cant confirm or deny, complete speculation... but would make sense -
I doubt he is getting fined for this. I will say that the amount of fake AI news on social media (facebook in particular) is out of control. I know we stopped trying to fact check the internet, but it is getting out of control.

The League's Top Ten Coaches All Ought to be Fired

That sounds like one of us. Just sayin’. Actually, I was hoping we could follow in the footsteps of the immortal Barry Switzer, as long as we are going with the Flukey History category. -

I know I know, it's just those unreasonable Bills fans who think that's McD achieving the same pinnacle of success that Rex Ryan did with Mark Sanchez is disappointing. -
I think he talked **** about the quality of pizza in Buffalo so pretty egregious

Tyrod Taylor always smoked the Dolphins when he was on the Bills. It would be amazing karma to have him end McDaniels illustrious Dolphins career with a statement win. -

Start of the season really could not have gone better for the Bills…
billsfan89 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
If they lose next week and go 1-3 they would have to beat the Jags away (not an "easy" game but one they "should win") and win against the Lions at home another game I could see being a 50/50 knuckleball type game. Getting to 3-3 is going to be key for them. If they go 2-4 that's a big hole and their schedule does not let up. They have to play the Bills away, Colts at home has suddenly flipped from a reprieve to a tough game, Broncos twice in what could easily be a split, Chargers at home, and Commanders at home. Granted they do have some games where they can "get fat" on. Raiders twice (although the Raiders being better coached makes them less of an "easy" out), Titans, Texans (suddenly an easier projected game), and Cowboys. If they can win those 5 games and get a few of the other tough ones they could get at least 10 wins and at worse make a wildcard. -
Bills Defense, will it get better as season goes on

We really don't have much depth in the secondary. Rapp & Bishop in particular have to stay healthy - big dropoff there if either gets hurt. Hairston will be a welcome addition at CB. Hopefully he adjusts to the NFL pretty quickly. I think Strong should start over Tre while he's out. I thought Strong looked really good when he played. -
Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?

there's actually data from last season that suggests it actually isn't that difficult (completing deep throws vs modern shell type defenses), teams just aren't doing it ... The average depth of throw against two-high coverages was 7.8 yards in 2020. It has dropped all the way to just 6.6 yards in 2024. Offenses threw the ball an average of 1.9 yards short of the first-down marker against two-high in 2020. This year, they are throwing an average of 3.2 yards short of the sticks against the same coverages. In 2020, 11.6% of passes against two-high traveled at least 20 yards in the air. This season, that number is all the way down to just 9% of passes. These aren't the overall numbers. They are JUST against two-high. Teams are getting worse at attacking these coverages because they are surrendering to what the defense wants them to do. Completion percentages against two-high are slightly up. Drop rates on those throws are down. The rates of off-target throws are down. "Take what the defense gives you" is a common theory of offense, and teams are taking that to heart -- but it's not working in their favor. And here's the other thing: teams that do throw deep against two-high safety looks are seeing more success than ever before. On throws of 15-plus air yards against two-high so far this season, NFL teams have a 50% success rate. Quarterbacks have a 19.9% off-target throw rate, 8.1% touchdown rate, 5.1% interception rate and 35.3% explosive-play rate, while receivers have dropped just 2.9% of their throws. Teams are gaining an average of 13.3 yards per attempt and 0.65 EPA per dropback. All of those numbers are the best of any season since at least 2019... -
I’m afraid I misread the title. Never mind.

McDermott on very interesting NFL Films video on goal line fades
Augie replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can see it in the huddle now: “Broken play on three!” I’m sure the fade is generally a bad choice for most teams, and a worse choice if you have Josh Allen at QB. Give something good a fair chance to happen. -

I also do not think Bobby Babich is particularly good. The third down defense is a problem not entirely because of how he calls it but definitely partly how he calls it. I know he is still a relatively inexperienced coordinator and he has had some highlights (his regular season gameplan v KC last year was outstanding) but I feel like he is a weak spot. -
I don't blame them one bit. They already have 15 assistants to the GM. What's one more?
-
The Bills should be looking into it and maybe they can learn something to avoid that. It's in Bosa's gene, bro!

Seahawks had a punt return for a TD, and a blocked punt that gave them the ball at the 11 yard line. They also had a short field for one of their scores due to turnover on downs. Saints seem capable of beating themselves, so we’ll likely see a conservative game plan again.
