  1. Past hour
  2. Point is, the Bills didn’t even need their last timeout. They used them when they needed them. One of them eventually led to a punt and the other basically took points off the board. [Cue the “but what if they DID need them later” wailing…. They didn’t.]
  3. Folz around January 30th ”who could believe that the Bills would fall to 0-5 vs the Chiefs in the postseason and the defense would get shredded again, maybe a few more 90% defensive offseasons with McD’s right hand man picking all the players he wants will change it!”
  4. What makes me nervous is the Bills first four games were against pretty horrible competition, and it looks like even Baltimore isn't that good. And 3/4 at home. How much did this actually tell us?
  5. Next they'll bring on Foghorn/Leghorn. I say I say Boy!!!
  6. Very interesting and valid points…
  7. I understand the average person on this board isn’t the audience for halftime anymore, but this is a real bizarre choice for the NFL.
  8. Yeah, sorry. I got confused there for a second. Thanks GB
  9. To be fair, the defense bailed out the offense in the 2nd quarter. Otherwise, the score could have been different.
  10. I want to add, Hawes was dominant in blocking again, I noticed a few runs go his way and it opened up a lane, he's a dog
  11. Roger Goodell’s grandkids insisted.

  13. Offense: - QB (A-) -- 72% completion, 3 TDs, big runs - RB (A) -- 100 yards and a TD - OL (C) -- Pass blocking gave up B2B sacks _ OC (C) -- Still don't like 4th down call Defense: - DL (C-) -- too many yards rushing allowed - SECONDARY (B) -- Bishop's play was enormous - DC (C) -- Rattler rattled -- No plan for the running QB Special Teams on Offense: PR (C) -- Nothing Special -- let Bills get pinned in deep by failing to catch ball KR (C) -- Nothing Special -- Samuel not better or worse than Codrington K (A) -- 4/4 XPs and 1/1 FG P (C) -- Nothing Special -- Not better than the punter we let go. Poor punting distance Special Teams on Defense: PR (C) -- Held my breath a few times. Got the punter killed on B2B weeks. KR (C) -- Nothing special. Overall: - Bills (B) -- I never believed the vegas line. Figured Saints were playing for their season - McD (B) -- Nothing stood out to me. Thought his TOs at the end of the half were unnecessary. Bills were not playing well in 2nd Qtr to want another drive.
  14. The penalty given when the offense snaps the ball and a defensive player who is exiting the field on defense has one foot in the field of play seems a little ridiculous to me. I mean how many times must the players etc on the sidelines accidentally step their toes on the field technically doing the same thing. Should the NFL refs / replay assist flag those too?
  15. Fixed it for you. Our two stars aside, this is still the same old Cardiac Bills we've had through the years. We barely know if we're going to make it through each game.
  16. Hard to believe we are done with 4 of the 17 games. Here are my takes at the end of the 1st quarter of the NFL Season. Josh Allen continues where he left off: Josh is in form and trending towards another MVP caliber season (and hopefully a SB Winning season). He was super-human against Baltimore in the 4th quarter throwing for 250+ yards to mount a fierce comeback that resulted eventually in a 41-40 victory. Josh is playing percentage football that protects the football and at the same time ready to do his Josh Allen Magic. Rise of James Cook Two weeks into Training Camp, it was not clear what was going to be the situation with James Cook. There were completely opposite views with most of them insisting that Cook was a two-down back and also couldn't block. Four games into the season, Cook has proven most of them wrong showing that he can be a workhourse back grinding yards in chunks. His speed has been outstanding and that complimented with his vision has elevated his level of play that would be suprising even to James Cook. Now the question is - can he take this all the way through the 18-week grind into the playoffs. The Slithery Shakir Shakir has been amazing during this 4-game stretch. Its statistics will not show what he has done; but tapes don't lie. He continues to make clutch plays as evidenced by the key 3rd down conversion against the Saints. The two TDs that he scored are amazing highlight reels...In one, he just moved so fast that there was not a single defender anywhere close to him. On the second one, he clearly showed that he can break tackles while maintaining his balance and rumble into the end zone. Free Agent Contributions Josh Palmer signed a $35M contract to be the speed receiver. He has made a few critical catches to move the sticks, but nothing much beyond that. Hoecht and Ogenjobie are on the suspended list until week six. Bosa has shown some flashes to get to the QB. The Bills focuse don re-signing their own players and hence not much expectation from the Free Agent signings. Re-signing your own players The Bills signed Shakir, Groot, Bernard, Benford and Cook to large contracts ($50M+) and the results have been mixed. Cook has been amazing and the driver of this vehicle. He has been everything and more than advertised. Shakir continues to be Shakir and Bernard too though to a lesser extent. Rookie Contributions Walker and Hawes have been great making critical and clutch plays. Sanders and Strong have been on the field but have been just ok. Hairston is still working through his rehab and possibly still out 3-4 weeks. Jackson and Hancock have been healthy scratches. Need more strong performance from this group if we have to move the needle against Baltimore or the Chiefs. The Same Old Same Old The Bills invested heavily on Defense in the offseason. They signed Pass Rusher Joey Bosa and Hoecht along with Ogunjobie to play Defensive Tackle. They spent the first four picks in the NFL draft on defense, drafting Hairston (CB), Sanders (DT). Jackson (DE), Walker (DT), Hancock (S) and Strong (CB). They are also re-signed Benford, Bernard and Groot to massive contract extensions. However, the results in the 1st quarter of the season remains the same..Last against the Run and inability to get off the field on 3rd and long has made Bills fan crazy and frustrated. The Bills continue to serve a ultra-conservative offense even though it is led by the league MVP. However, Josh Allen has learned to play within that system and keep the chains moving and the points coming. Milano and Spencer Brown continue to miss games as they did the last few years. While it might give opportunity to other backup players. not having them on the field hurts this team more than anything else. Bills in Q2 of the Season - What will they do? What do the Bills need to fix to improve their play? * Pass Rush - This is non-existent now..they need to get better in this area if they want to beat the best QBs in the league * DT & LB - Change is coming in both these positions to stop the run. The Bills need to find a way to stop the run bleed. *. More involvement of Coleman and Palmer. Both these guys need a lot of touches and Josh needs to get the ball to them. Result - 4-0 The most important aspect of the season...the Bills are yet to lose a football game. They have scored 30+ points in each of those four games. They are leading the division by 2 games and are 2-0 within the division with a critical and important game coming this Sunday against the up and coming Patriots on SNF. They are two games up on the 2-2 Chiefs awaiting a week 7 showdown in Orchard Park. They are a game ahead of the surging chargers and the 3 1/2 games ahead of the fading Ravens team. While there is a ton of things to fix, the team has stuck together during the tough times that has taught them on how to win the close games. At the end, the only thing matters is the final scoreboard. Go Bills !!!
  17. Bills look good to get through the AFC this year. I am looking at the Eagles game as the real test. See ya in December.
  18. Let's put this in perspective; the folks who come to this forum are not the target audience for halftime show entertainment. We're football fans. The target audience is aimed at the (mostly) younger crowd who are primarily into the party, commercials and the overall spectacle that surround the Super Bowl. That group frequently has little to no interest in the game. They're the same people who'll be non-stop talking, scrolling through Tik-Tok, taking selfies, and double-dipping with chips for 4 hours. 😊
  19. Take away the second quarter, and that game is fine. But the INT, penalties, sacks and poor field position just made it a hard watch.
  20. So some how with the disproportionate amount of draft and salary cap resources we have spent on the D in the past few years we have been able to select players with poor tackling skills? Is that what you are saying? It is not only the defensive and play calling which our Head Coach is clearly responsible for. Was our Head Coach at all influential in the defensive players we drafted and signed?
  21. You think the Head Coach is to blame for tackling? I am not sure I agree with could "easily have lost" I never felt we would lose yesterday or vs Miami. Baltimore, sure. But the defense does suck. It has made some exceptional plays - Oliver in the opener, Bishop last night.... but it's fundamentals have been woeful. And some of the defensive playcalling is mystifying. I'm not saying it is all on Bobby Babich but the Bills have never had this level of 3rd down issue until he became DC. At some point you have to hold him accountable.
  22. I'd go QB - B+ RB - A+ OL - C- OC - C DL - B- LB - C DB - C DC - D+ McD - C+
  23. My take is we’re gonna lose next week. With the current standings, our opponents to date have a combined 3-15 record. Our thrilling opening night comeback vs B’more turns out to be just like the last 3 games. Very flawed teams who woulda/coulda/shoulda won! Ravens are now 1-3 on merit and now Lamar is hobbled. The Pats* are 2-2 and just had a dominating victory over Carolina. Drake Maye is more polished than Josh was in his sophomore season. “HIM” had a TD & over 100 yrds receiving. They already know they’re the only team in the Division who can rival the Bills and we’re not even in October! They annihilated the Panthers as a tune up for Buffalo while showing the League they are legit! They know the chump change we’ve escaped tell the story WE also know. That we have an all-timer at QB, an impressive RB and 51 Jimmy’s and Joe’s who are easily fooled and allow their opponents to gouge them all day, choosing only to defend the deep third. They know we suck at tackling and playing Man in coverage and only Bosa is a threat to disrupt the pass. Yesterday showed more about how bad the Aints are than the perceived good the Bills are. Go ahead Sean. Sit good players who CAN go -if needed, again. If Allen was bummed the last time the stadium emptied out in the 4th quarter, he’s in for a shock next week. It’s likely gonna look like the Covid year -imo.
  24. Definitely don't do that one. A Davis play is like waving the white flag. Dennis Allen? He is the DC in Chicago. Brandon Staley is the defensive coordinator for the Saints.
