I remember that hit Boldin took - I watched it live. It was BRUTAL. Yet he held onto the pass IIRC. I have long said that if Boldin was the target instead of Lee Evans on that fateful play vs the Pats in the 2011-season afc championship game, there was no way that leigh bodden was gonna knock it out of his hands. Boldin is a first ballot HOFer in my book and was arguably the MVP of the Ravens-Niners SB.

Keon Coleman success by route - Not pretty
The Firebaugh Kid replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we all want him to succeed obviously but it’s just a strange skill set that I’m not really sure ever lends itself to being more than like a third or fourth option. And we all know the other options that were available at the time. They wanted a contested catch guy and that’s what they got. -
Purdy and 49’ers extension. 5 years 265 million
BillsFan130 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's an interesting topic. Because what QBs can you win with, that make let's say 45 plus a year. Josh, Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar, Stafford , Hurts I think are the concrete 6. (Although Hurts contract is very back loaded) Then I would say you got maybes in Herbert, Baker and Goff Then there's a big drop from there. (Lawrence, Dak , Purdy etc.) I think your overall point is it's dumb to pay Purdy 45 a year (that was the real number that came out), cause you're not going to win with him at that number. Which I would agree with -
Yeah, there's nothing that can be done about it now except hope that Coleman can improve. As it stands now, I think it's a good example of how they might be better served taking a more flexible approach on scheme fits.

Thing is that middle class is very small. Baker is probably the ideal landing point. $33m AAV and performing as well as many of the $50m guys. Its just hard to find them. -
They will disappear into the woodwork until he has a bad game or drops a key pass. Then they will be back in force. I’m hoping for noticeable improvement. Time will tell.

Looks like there is a preseason Bills at Tampa game on Saturday 8/23/25 at 7:30. Ticketmaster has tickets priced $100+. I'm obviously not falling for that, but how much do you reasonably expect to pay for something like this? Would this be preseason game #2 or #3? Any chance of any starters? The 7:30 start time seems a little tricky, leaving around 10 after tailgating for hours but such is life - otherwise there would be some serious heat to deal with. Good opportunity to practice some day drinking/tailgating prior to Miami for us older Floridian fans. I'm thinking about doing this, any suggestions and tips? Thanks.

Who else could have given this speech ? "Before our eyes, a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts and tired divisions of the past..." "... and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce, not chaos; where it exports technology, not terrorism; and where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together — not bombing each other out of existence. This great transformation has not come from Western interventionists… giving you lectures on how to live or how to govern your own affairs. No, the gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called ‘nation-builders,’ ‘neo-cons,’ or ‘liberal non-profits,’ like those who spent trillions failing to develop Kabul and Baghdad, so many other cities. Instead, the birth of a modern Middle East has been brought about by the people of the region themselves … developing your own sovereign countries, pursuing your own unique visions, and charting your own destinies. In the end, the so-called ‘nation-builders’ wrecked far more nations than they built — and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves...." Yea. I don't think Keon is even that good at jump balls. What he IS good at is YAC once he has ball in hand. That is where his mix of agility, athleticism and size is at its most dangerous.

Guys. I know. I was imitating Beane lecturing the fan base.

If it is something else that will get proven in the long run. Talent always wins in the NFL. There are guys who get misused and then go somewhere else and excel. I don't think that has happened a ton with guys the Bills have had. Poona Ford is one. I don't think the Bills maximised him in his one year here. But there are not a ton of others. In actual fact quite the opposite. There are numermous guys - EJ Gaines, Dane Jackson, Jordan Phillips etc who could never replicate their success here in other stops.

Purdy and 49’ers extension. 5 years 265 million
Kirby Jackson replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Steeler fans and people that follow them hated that decision. He has a starting role this year. Again, he’s not Peterman. You’re better off paying him $20M than Purdy $53M. There are 3 tiers of QBs: guys you win because of, guys you can win with, and young / unproven guys. The worst place to be is having “a guy you can win with making guy that you win because of money.” That’s Purdy -
Prather is an ambitious kid who is pushing the envelope by having declared for the draft. He had another year of eligibility and he surely would have benefitted by transferring to a bigger program and conference for his last year of college ball because he is raw and his game is in need of refinement. Analysts frequently disagree of course but something I found a little odd was coming across diametrically opposed views on certain aspects, specifically footwork, release, route running, and hand use. What I think that winds up meaning is that he has shown that he can do it all well enuf except that he doesn't do it all the time. In other words he is not consistent, which is hardly surprising him being a youngster who lost targets to Tai Felton (who was drafted around 100 by Minni). Too me he may have declared too early and would have had a better shot of making a roster after next years draft. That's why I think he probably belongs on the practice squad. But if he makes the roster because he shows greater consistency even in spite of the limited reps he will get in OTÀs and preseason games I think it will be reasonable to conclude that the Bills found a diamond in the 7th round. It does happen. Jacobi Meyers was undrafted.

I've tried that in recent years and no, it didn't work out. It was better to purchase sooner and not have to stress about it. That's what I did for this coming season. Now if you're the type to wait until the morning of gameday to see if some people desperately need to unload their tix for cheaper then that might work. But for me to save $50 or whatever, I'd just rather have the tickets well in advance.

Fair points- Although I used to say Tua is a system QB. And maybe he is- But he's absolutely vital to THAT system. Miamis offence goes to absolute s*** when Tua gets injured lol -

In today’s NFL WRs by the end of year two now you know if they are going to be good or not, either by production or efficiency stats. For example, Shakir 2nd year he had a yprr over 2 which is very good. So he was a good player and then year 3 he just got more volume.

I agree. And deception of supporters happens on both sides as we are seeing with regret of many Trump voters.
