Can you imagine if Beane had done this (‘22 draft)…
GunnerBill replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bill Belichick D was about size and run play at defensive tackle, big interior linebackers at the Will and the Mike, length at the outside backer positions (I mean by the end he was just drafting pretty much carbon copies of one another at that spot - Ronnie Perkins, Chase Winovich, Anfrenee Jennings - talk about physical prototype!) and then he liked really sticky aggressive corners and wasn't really bothered about size - he probably took as many smaller corners as big ones - and he liked safeties who were ball hawks, ideally who had played corner previously. He valued guys who played his way. Yes, he wanted smart football players, I don't dispute that at all. But he didn't draft coverage linebackers, he didn't draft 4-3 hand in the dirt defensive ends and he didn't big thumping safeties. They didn't suit his system he didn't draft them. You can choose not to believe it, that's your choice, but the Patriots had the smallest draft board in the league year after year after year. You had to be smart, you had to fit Bill's system and you had to love football. If you didn't tick all three boxes you were off the board - and that's before the normal injury and character red flags. -
They can't

Assuming Carter is cut, I’m going to reach out to Joe Marino and see if I can get him to conduct some kind of study on how many premium draft picks this team has wasted and cross reference that with other teams. I tend to think the bills are in the top 10 in terms of wasted premium draft picks (1-3). Or maybe we’re just babies. But I intend to find out if there’s any kind of truth to that.

Dolphins Sign Rasul Douglas
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills know Rasul Douglas’ weaknesses very well and that is the exact reason they didn’t sign him. Allen is going to have a field day against this Dolphins D, but that’s been the norm since he came in the league. -
I expect the Bills to lose this game. It just feels like a loss to me. They have been too banged up in the preseason and have a lot of new parts on defense anyway that will take time to mesh. If we win it will be because Josh Allen wills us to victory and/or Lamar turns it over a couple of times like he tends to do against us.
-
Can you define what you mean by wasted? At the very least, you need to state who Beane should've picked instead and why? I don't think anyone will argue about Basham, but the rest of your list is questionable.
-
Dolphins need everything firing on all cylinders if they even want a distant shot of taking the division. Losing your kicker is massive. Not good for them. The FA crop is terrible.

Every player on the Bills’ roster could go down for the season and this team would still have a shot at the Super Bowl—except one: Josh Allen. Mitch Trubisky is on the roster for one reason: to keep the team afloat if Allen misses a few games. His job is to win half of them, nothing more. That’s why spending a high draft pick on a quarterback makes no sense. No rookie or developmental QB is going to step in and win more games than Mitch—or any other free-agent backup—if Allen goes down. And they certainly won’t carry the team through the playoffs. The smart play is to invest those valuable draft picks in depth everywhere else: offensive line, secondary, receivers, defensive front. Build the best possible roster around Allen. Because if he’s on the field, the Bills can beat anybody.

Those are columnists and beat writers. I agree with you on that and like those guys. But if you are comparing Sal to those guys you are confused. Sal is not a columnist or a beat writer. He is the sideline reporter and team insider for WGR the official station of the Buffalo Bills. These are two very different jobs.
-
We’re not allowed to question the amazing Brandon Beane, he drafted Josh Allen when the WGR guys said not to, so he gets a free pass on every decision he makes remember? We don’t need WRs fellas, we’ve got to draft multiple average D lineman every year for our amazing D that shows up every playoff against KC…No need to find a few playmakers who can develop cheap with Josh and maybe get some separation and make a clutch catch in crunch time. We trust you Beane 🙄
-
anyone listen to WGR this morning? listening to the morning show they are doing a draft of former players who will re-sign with the Bills. ... the first pick they did was Rasul Douglas. just an hour later he was reported he signed with the Fins. lol

I voted Carter as I do not consider Elijah Moore a surprise.

Well, the Bills and their fans kinda do deserve one at this point, right? And yes, the point of having a rooting interest is the hope that your team gets to the top one day. It's just bizarre to me that some have this attitude that you should just be happy and content that they don't suck for a change. -
i want journalists who report the news they share, who dig for stories and report on events as they are told. Wawrow does this, Tim Graham does this. They're not all negative.
-
I really don't think there is one this year because they are in a real numbers crunch at corner, safety, interior line. The only guy i could see getting the axe and then being brought right back in a week or two is Gilliam but I highly doubt they do that. I think what they do with Strong, Green, Gilliam, Codrington, VanDermark today is really interesting.
-
Epenesa and Singletary are absolutely not wastes. One got an extension and the other has remained a productive running back in the league.
-
I’m glad that we cut Ciarlo IF we only keep 5 LBers. If we keep Ulofoshio over him…. That would be a bummer. I’m hoping 5 LBers because that’s one of the ways we can keep 6 WRs
-
cool. I like Sal and am an adult enough to know that he gets paid by WGR and is part of the Official Radio Broadcast of the team. That is part of it for anyone in that position. If they give you unlimited access essentially because you are always with the team you can not be giving out everything. If you want guys who scream and yell and complain about everything and who are negative 24x7 then you should go be a jets fan and listen to WFAN all day. That is all they do.
-
Dewane Carter most likely but least surprising.
-
Moore
-
I knew he was a steaming pile of dog crap from the moment they drafted him.
-
Zappe too. Remember when he was the savior of the Pats?

You may have missed this in the opening post in big giant letters. This is a thread for listing Bills cuts only; not discussion, speculation, complaints, etc. It is for folks who just want to pop in real quick and click one thread to get information without wading through other stuff. For discussion on these cuts please use the other thread, not this one.

If Beane cuts Allen, that would be grounds for firing. I’m sure we could get at least a pick swap for him!
