Guess Who Has the #1 Pass Defense in the NFL?
FireChans replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
8th in NY/A passing and 31st in Y/A rushing. -
Pretty sure we've made Brady a top paid OC. I dont think it's a spending issue. I think it's more a McD needs to be the biggest fish issue. Brady was specifically the "Passing Game Coordinator" that legendary year at LSU. He ran a pass-happy offense before, and started that way here. But McD wore him down and enforced a run-first, "Complementary" gameplan (aka dont expose the precious defense). We certainly arent going to bring in an experienced DC that runs a different scheme than McD's. No change to a Schwartz/Spags/etc type. Plus those guys could be hired as Interim HC. So aint happening.

This would be the perfect signing. He's old and washed and those are 2 traits Beane looks for in WRs 😂

Everyone is of course free to say or write whatever they want, but your post is the fan's reaction equivalent of snagging defeat from the jaws of victory after a solid win. Not perfect by any stretch, and it doesn't mean we're SB bound or even playoff bound necessarily, but your 1-10 take is way too "glass half empty"/pessimistic/negative/woe is me than warranted in my opinion. -
Any MD's on this part of the board?

oh my god...are you worried about you little closed of world changing? are you worried that if you stop screaming hoax and fake news you may actually have to wake up and see what needs to be done in this country to get it back on track. if you can't handle even the most tame of debates, that's on you. i don't complain about the state of the place. i just complain about people that have no ability to think for themselves and just use basic logic to determine if something is right or wrong. i think this place takes up far too much of your life. -

I’m not sure if it’s a real stat, but I’d be interested in something like success rate per pass attempt or something like that. Teams have so much success running against us, that any volume stats for passing (yards, TDs, passer rating to a degree) won’t tell the full story. -

Great write up as always, even sans the music lyrics. I have to totally disagree about #5 and Brady. Why would it frustrate you to see that same play working so successfully. It is more an indictment against the might Mike Tomlin and his DC. If you have a play the opponent cant stop, you do exactly what the Bills did, keep pounding it. It was demoralizing to the Steelers and a hug bonus for our O Line (esp with both tackles out) to run the ball. #9 and Josh. I have been thinking the same thing all year. He has seemingly been really hyper engaged or floundering and seemingly disingaged. And I hope this thread doesn't dissolve into armchair marriage counselors second guessing his wife/ -
I mostly agree with this. Our passing offense scares me though. In 6 games since the bye week we've only seen the passing offense have 2 good games. It's just hard to imagine winning 3 road games in a row and then the Super Bowl without such an inconsistent passing offense. I guess the optimistic scenario is we get Kincaid and Palmer back healthy and that ends up being enough. We will still have to mostly rely on the run game though and I worry about what will happen when we inevitably get in a playoff matchup where the run isn't successful.

In past years, usually by the middle of the season we usually get a good indicator of what this team is. It's week 13 and I still have no clue who this team, probably bc they've been so inconsistent and weaker than previous years. I say this to only say it makes my stress levels go up significantly.

If we beat the Bengals, we’re winning the AFC
Alphadawg7 replied to No_Matter_What's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I am not saying we can't - and I certainly hope we do. But this is more about my confidence in if we will. I have in the past seen things out of this team after mid season slumps to where I have gone on the record with a thread predicting we would win out, and we did every single time. This year though, something is off with this team. Just feels like there is less fire and fight in this team than years past. Allen seems off still - he looks less decisive, slower to evade and escape, less explosive with his legs, etc. The team was completely anemic the first half of football, I was at the point of ready to clean house at half time, especially with how defeated McD sounded being interviewed as he left for half time. As far as injuries go, I agree if we get some of those guys back we could see a boost. But, at the same time, many of the issues were there when those guys were not hurt too. I also think our biggest loss was Hoecht who is out for the season. And will the coaching staff have the balls to play the guys playing better when everyone is healthy, like Shaq for example at LB. Rooting for a win out and strong playoff run for sure -I just lack the high confidence this year that I have had in previous seasons at key turning points. Now we go out and look good and beat the Bengals I will start feeling a little better about it. -
The Bills should snag Thielin and waive Coleman for the speed upgrade. And, my neighbor’s best buddy in Los Angeles says Clay Mathews is in wicked good shape and ready for a comeback. He was on an episode of the Mindy Project looking so fly.

I honestly wonder if we win that game if Queen doesn’t get that late hit on Josh and Bosa doesn’t get the strip sack. And why did it have to come to that? We were slugs prior to those happening. -

Guess what defense has been thrown on the least amount in the NFL? -
Odds of Wild Cards meeting in the Super Bowl could be high.

I believe any AFC playoff team could string together two or three wins to reach the Super Bowl. Right now, some are stronger than others, but I wouldn't discount any team that makes the playoffs (except maybe the Steelers, unless they beat the Ravens twice) As of right now, I'd tier them: (*wins division) Patriots* Texans* (I think they sneak in somehow) Chiefs (Chiefs probably need to win out, but it's possible they could, and in the process knock out the Jags, Colts, Texans or Chargers) Broncos* Bills (win three out of five should be enough to get in) Jaguars (head-to-head matchups with Colts and Texans) Colts (same) Chargers (tough schedule, Herbert health) Ravens* (beat Steelers twice?) Steelers (could swap with Ravens) -

The Bills are 6th in team defense in the passing game: https://www.nfl.com/stats/team-stats/defense/passing/2025/reg/all. Sort by passer rating. Passer rating differential is the most predictive of all NFL stats in determining winning and losing. Here is the top 10: The Bills team passer rating on offense is 99.5, and the +18.6 differential is reflected in their 8-4 record. -
I agree and have come around completely to it this year. We all know it won't happen though. If were hell bent on not changing, WTF is stopping us from going out and hiring the best G-D OC & DC possible. Stop being cheap. We can pay backups a few million... but shelling out a few mill a year for top coordinators seems like an incredibly cost efficient, highly predictable output chances.

70's & 80's... People in general had more disposable income to blow on sports merch... When it, team consumerism, really took off. With Boomers... When it took flight... Silent Generation, like my parents, had to be convinced that they wouldn't be caught dead wearing team apparel. Slap on that SabreJak dad! "Over my dead body!" He got with program in later years, but severely tempered. LoL...

Announcers are set, maps will be known soon!

If Bosa did pull his hamstring to any degree, I’d be shocked if he’s out there on Sunday. He’s way too important to any postseason success to be playing games with injuries that could get worse this late in the season. Get Dawkins, Palmer and Kincaid back and see if this Offense can win a shootout.

We missed the boat with Johnson and possibly Vabrel, I'm not sure there are coaching candidates to that caliber this summer. Even the coach for Cinci, he hasn't done a thing. If he became available I don't know if he's an upgrade? Folks act like it can't be worse. It totally can. You can't just "make a move," you have to make the correct move. You HAVE to be correct. The world where we miss having the 11-13 win, Divisional-AFC title knock out games absolutely exists. Pegs NEEDS to get the timing right on the next GM/HC. It's easy to pound the table and say 'make a change,' but who are we bringing in? Who replaces McD? Who replaces Beane? I'll hang up and listen. Or not because I know the responses will essentially be "it doesn’t matter" over and over again.

I think we played well yesterday but I also believe the Steelers being inept covered up a lot of the same issues we've been seeing. We definitely played better than we did against Miami or Houston but still not at the level needed IMO. -
