Dorian Williams in the Hoecht/Lorax role?
BillsShredder83 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is this "The Players and Coaches Defining The 2025 NFL Season" episode? Going to wrap up work checking this one out. Man if this is true, it is absolutely BAFFLINGGGGGG decision to wait this long into the season to take over the defense! Infuriating, and at the same time would be a crazy welcome relief. We've invested over and over and over on that side, just continuously pouring in... and next to no progress to show for it. If last week is our new floor (not insane - ton of young inexperienced out there), hell, even if thats our new ceiling, I'd sign up for that right now. Very interesting, and I guess I'm ready to be hurt again -
Well the Bengals tend to operate on a tight budget of cash beyond just - cap space. They struggle to pay out these huge signing bonuses because that hits the bottom line at the end of the year. The reason they're bad isn't even cap constraints though - they just are really bad at drafting. 2021-2025 - Outside of Ja'Marr Chase its really challenging to find an impact player on either side of the ball.

Dorian Williams in the Hoecht/Lorax role?

They put Solomon into Hoecht's role after the injury. On one play when I specifically watched him, he lined up inside & brought great delayed pressure resulting in an incompletion. I agree we definitely need to keep using that role, whether it's Solomon or Dorian. -
Dorian Williams in the Hoecht/Lorax role?
Buffalo716 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dorian has immense physical talent Sometimes it's the recognition and the other stuff that he lacks in He does have a great combination of linebacker size and speed.. he certainly is pretty explosive I'd have to go back and watch some of his college tape again to see how his pass rushing was.. but he is better when he's just attacking So getting him closer to the line of scrimmage right on the ball might help him get involved He's not going to have a bull rush like hoecht... But he might be good blitzing up the A b gap -
Hoecht should have made it clear to the world, that what we've been lacking is that animal who we can list as an OLB but can be put between the Tackle and Guard. Something we haven't done since Lorax. I personally hope Jackson will turn into that. It hopefully opens McD's eyes to if you want pressure up front, ya gotta have the troops. Rushing fo only against 6 plus a back is so 90's....or for teams with 4 top 20 picks on the line. If ya don't wanna blitz, you gotta have the horses. Your young 2ndary will thank you, like they just did.

' So have the Chiefs.

It’s pessimism…team gets overwhelmed by the end of the season

Shaq Thompson is at best the same size as Dorian Williams. I actually think he's smaller. -
good point. Beane would have blown right past Jefferson as he ran to the podium to draft Noah Igbinoghene or Jeff Gladney.

Bills don't "need" a WR, they need to use the ones they have better
oldmanfan replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Correct me if I’m wrong but my understanding is other teams are playing two safeties deep. That will minimize the deep throws so many are calling for. What I’d like to see are more crossing routes in the intermediate zone to get WRs open more, particularly Coleman. But that’s nit picky; it’s hard to argue with the success of the offense thus far this year. -
James Cook, and the Underrated Value of Running Backs
BillsShredder83 replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he'd need a true #1 on the field with him to pull it off. Could very well be wrong. Dont see him get the volume of catches you'd like to see over the middle/underneath. I miss Cole Beasley! Absolutely not crapping on Khalil either, I love what he brings -
Hot Take: “Old Joe” Flacco exposing what some (including me) suspected…

Agreed on Thompson and Epenesa. Thompson is a more than adequate reliever for Bernard or Milano. When Hoecht went down the pressure went up for Epenesa to be productive so Buffalo can manage Bosa's reps properly
-
Same for any privately held company. The only ones who the valuation really has significance to are investors and the company has had no trouble raising a quick 1/2 billion in 2 rounds of funding.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if they did. Beane sounded really disappointed that he wasn't able to make a move yesterday...that teams decided to hang onto players rumored to be available. Then he said he won't stop and reminded the questioner that Jordan Phillips was not on the Bills at the trade deadline last year yet played in the playoffs.
-
That's not true. They were definitely taking a WR that year. They decided to take the sure thing instead of the lottery ticket. Considering how well Diggs paid off I'm not remotely upset at them over it. To me the more depressing "what if" scenario is when we took Cody Ford over AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin. That was Beane's biggest whiff IMO. Epecially since it isn't just hindsight, Brown and Metcalf in particular were seen as great prospects with uncoachable physical traits.

I don't think he's big enough nor atheltic enough. Shaq Thompson should play that role. If Milano gets healthy again and Bernard can stay on the field a hybrid nickel with Thompson playing that role is the best bet. Hoecht was going to be the DE/LB. I don't see Williams having enough ass to set the edge or -

He also seems to have a solid knack as a spy - and running QBs have absolutely killed us for years. -

For me I want to see if the D has turned the corner and if it has, does that change how the O operates going forward? For example let us say Buffalo is leading 21-10 at the half against Miami and receives the 3rd quarter kick off. We are in control of the game. Are we going to continue running Cook and control the clock or are we going to try and get some true chemistry between Josh and the boundary wide receivers? Is McDermott going to be able to accept a 3 and out going 5 yard short pass, 2 yard run, incompletion, punt after only gaining 7 yards versus a constant barrage of 6 yard runs, wide receiver screens to Shakir plus the usual TE catches eating up the clock for 8 minutes and having to settle for a FG to be up 24-10. I think having a defense that is confident and playing well and stopping the opposing regularly might give the offense a chance to shift somewhat should they want to. I think Palmer and Moore should be a true part of the offense going forward and everyone is then genuinely eating. If our D becomes leaky again we stick to the established formula/template that we have done so far. I have no problem with Buffalo defeating opponents off the back of Kincaid, Shakir and Cook and the primary 3 skill players but I am guessing that we will need Palmer, Moore, Coleman, Samuel and potentially Gabe Davis to shoulder some of the burden to get the W come January and February. -
Or maybe he's fat and outa shape sitting at home and we're watching the clone on TV!
