I would send you an Incredible Edible basket if the statute of limitations had not passed.

My mantra in the offseason was 40 PPG offense. The team went a different direction. If it was up to me that is still what I would have tried to build. That being said on the whole I liked most of the investments they made on defense, especially early in the draft, and I'm glad we will likely find out once and for all if the talent or the coaching is the main reason we can't slow KC down in the playoffs. I understand the logic behind this offseason's strategy but I won't be convinced it will make a difference until I see it happen.

Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
mjt328 replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
No so much. Like the Bills with Josh Allen, the Bengals struck gold by drafting the right QB. One of Joe Burrow's injuries also helped them luck into a prime draft slot, where they could draft Jamar Chase. But lucky breaks only last for so long. At some point, it comes back to the franchise making smart decisions. For a brief 1-2 season period, the Bengals did surpass the Bills as the AFC's #2 team. Hard to argue that point. But the Bengals shine at the top was very short-lived, because they have a terrible owner and crappy front office. The big difference between the Bills/Bengals is that once players started getting paid and vets started aging out, we were able to keep a competitive team together. They have not. Over the last few years, we lost Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Mitch Morse, Tre White, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. And we just kept right on rolling. Last season was our big test, and we passed. Our offense was better than ever. Meanwhile, the Bengals have been a downhill trajectory for the last two years. Their O-Line is really bad, and wasn't upgraded much in the offseason. Their running game hasn't been effective since Joe Mixon left. Their defense is terrible, and Trey Hendrickson is holding out. The situation with their top pick is a joke. Depth across the team isn't great either, which is why they can't seem to overcome injuries. -

The restaurant/bar I worked at in the late ‘70’s was a hopping’ Disco, lines out the door year round. Started there as a long hair dishwasher, thought this music….ugh. It all changed when I started waiting tables late night as the only male, got a haircut and, well I made a lot of money, especially ladies night. 😏

One thing’s for sure, NO Drought-Era players need apply for the best of the best.

I like this list cause you included so many 60's Bills. That D back then was loaded. Other guys like Stratton, Dunaway, McDole, Edgerson, Saimes.

My guess is that the Trump administration saw a chance to do what many have privately (and publicly) wanted to do for a long time: neutralize any Iran threat. Russia could've made this difficult, but they're a bit preoccupied right now. (Ukraine war surrender monkeys: think about what would've happened if we'd allowed them to overrun Ukraine in a month.) Hezbollah in Lebanon and whatever Iranian proxy in Syria can't get to Israel now. Houthis in Yemen are a pest but nothing more. Other Islamic world opposition muted because of Saudi hatred of Iran. Hence, the green light - explicit or implicit - for Israel to go ahead. Way, way too soon to tell if this is a good idea. But that's why I'm guessing it happened, and why it happened now.

I just stumbled across this. Given Buffalo's offseason activities, do you still feel the same? This is an honest question - not a challenge.

Oh okay, I get what you mean now. You’re saying music had to pivot to something else because disco wasn’t it 😅 First rap song I remember was Rapper’s Delight, but there’s actually a (white) woman who was credited with the first rap song, though I can’t remember her name.

President Trump is Quite the 'Deal-Maker'
sherpa replied to BringMetheHeadofLeonLett's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Back to the subject, I never thought he was a particularly good deal maker. His deals involved negotiating real estate deals. Real estate is a particularly easy deal, because both parties are dealing with an appreciating asset. Thus, it is profitable to both parties to conclude an agreement. I am not aware of him ever getting a tough deal done. -
Ridley had over 1k yards in three of the last four seasons and was injured and out for most of the other one. Mooney sandwiched a couple 1k seasons - including in the one right after he got the contract - tho, right? Oh, and he was in an inept Chicago offense for those two seasons you pointed to. They do not compare at all to Gabe Davis. Try again.

RB and WR markets are actually insane.
fergie's ire replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Part of the problem is the "wins against replacement" idea with running backs. How much more does a top RB get you than a good RB. Cook played in 16 games for 1009 yards which is about 63 yards per game. In the game where he did not play, Davis had 97 yards, and, while the Jets defense was not as good as most thought it would be, it is still pretty decent. One game is the smallest of sample sizes and I am not saying Davis would average 97, but how far would he be from Cook's 63? Now, Cook had quite a few runs of over 40 yards and that explosiveness is something we may not see from Davis. That threat is certainly worth something....but how much? -
Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
Sierra Foothills replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Back to the topic at hand, The Athletic digest which I receive via email every day said this: "Stewart and his agents asked for a standard, slot contract for his draft position (No. 17). Cincinnati wants to set a new contractual precedent with more aggressive language around voided guarantees. Stewart understandably does not want to be a guinea pig for all players that come after him." I would agree with this characterization and Stewart's reaction, 100%. -
I think people were (myself included) breathing a sigh of relief, rather than cheering. "like from a Shakespearian/Greek tragedy/film noir perspective"? 😁 You may be (no sarcasm here) too smart for me to mess with.
