It’s more than stats. They didn’t have their top guys for all or most of the year. They had to battle every week just to eke out wins. Credit to them that they were able to make it to the Superbowl that way. They’re a lot more full strength this season, especially the offense.
-
Because very good GMs make moves when they recognize that they just don’t have the personnel to bring them to the SB. If Beane does not make a move there is no way Bills go deep into the playoffs. Now way at all!

The entire remaining schedule is bonkers. At work we went through all of the games remaining and predicted winners and losers. In many scenarios the broncos & Colts had a good chance at the one or two seed. The top of the AFC is tough, the bottom not so much. Where teams like the Patriots have the fourth place schedule remaining they have a couple tough games against the buccaneers, the bills, and I even count the Falcons as a tough game. The Ravens are a x Factor. Another loss or two and I can see them checked out by week 16 when I face the Patriots. The Chiefs have us, the Broncos twice, the chargers, colts, steelers. That's at least two more losses snuck in there, without the factor of that weird raiders lost they always seem to endure. The Chiefs in third place in their division have a harder row to hoe. The Steelers have the colts, lions, us, and Ravens twice. They got 3 more losses Chargers: Steelers, jags, Chiefs, eagles, broncos. Broncos: Packers and Chiefs twice I fully expect the playoffs to be 1 2 3 with the colts, broncos, Steelers... And no particular order. Whoever wins the AFC East before, it depends if the Patriots beat still in the match. At this point I would say the Bills and Chiefs are wild card with whoever else squeaks in, at this point the Ravens.

It’s relative to them. They went 11-0 in one score games and scraped by in a few. The team, especially the offense and the way Mahomes is playing is definitely better right now than last year club. But yea, in the end the W’s are all that matter.

Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah - stats are king in football. They won a lot of tight games though, and i think some of their season long stats are a bit affected by the week 18 game where they had less than 100 yards of offense and were shut out. -
He’s not Quinnen Williams. quinnen Williams is not a top 5 defensive player in the nfl. I don’t think he’s top 10 In this board, decisions are made without thought and rationale. Only

Wasn't this how Josh was in the weeks leading up to Dorsey getting canned? He'll do his 5 step drop. His reads aren't open, he bails early on the pocket. Then he looks dejected and helpless on the sidelines. Is Brady not running plays where the routes match the qb drop? Are the wrs not where they need to be? Or is it Josh? Probably a combination of all. But it's still on Brady to get this working.

Horrible Year To Be Buyers at Trade Deadline
The Frankish Reich replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't sleep on Devaughn Vele. Maybe the Saints want to move one of the starters and give Vele a chance, but right now it looks like they don't value him. He's the one I'd want. -
Exactly. That is like the Bills trading with KC, we all know teams don't do stupid things like this.

Horrible Year To Be Buyers at Trade Deadline
BillsShredder83 replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think all the hooplah around here about that interview is the most overblown topic on this site that I've seen since I can't remember when. Beane was a bit prickly that day, but at the same time, he did what leaders do and stuck up for his guys. I think some personal frustration seeped into his response too. I 100% think he had the wrong delivery, and thats the only reason its noteworthy, but thats what I want a guy in management to do 100 of 100 times... Stand Up for Your Guys when they aren't around to defend themselves. Criticism (constructive or not), serves nobody when public facing in the 4 major leagues. We're not privy to all the FA's/attempted trades we've unsuccessfully attempted to lure into (Metcalf?) the building. Nor are we aware of all attempts to move around the draft board, that just didn't pan out. WR's havent exactly been falling off of trees the last few years. Beane needs to shoulder the load of having given that extension to Diggs when he did, knowing what we know now. It lead to him having to offload a toxic asset prematurely, and eating a dead cap hit to do so. In no way do I think we went into that offseason, thinking a deal needed to be made. We were going to try and tread water with it another year... Diggs blew that up. When he inked that deal, it seemed like a no-brainer, squash the one gripe the guy had... I don't think anyone saw that bipolar mental episode coming, def not at the extension, and def not at that point in the offseason when we unloaded him. It's easy to point to Minnesota and say "he did it while he was there!" That's one data point. The guy had some credible gripes too. Contract. Playing 2nd fiddle to other WR's... being on a run heavy team. We took a chance on a good WR, taking the next step, hoping he'd become great. Diggs did that. He balled out and put his heart in maybe more than anyone on those 2021 + 2022 teams. Predictably, things like that can break a guy, especially a diva. Beane deserves criticism for his part in those decisions, but he didn't make them wholly himself. That episode REALLY screwed up our timeline... and I agree overall, he hasnt done enough at the position, but I dont know how many legit chances he's had to add the fix we need either. TL:DR I'm behind Beane doing what he shouldve been doing, supporting his guys when spotlit in the media. Anything resembling criticism needs to happen behind closed doors. Justtttt Maybe next time lay-off the caffeine before sounding off B.B. and that's the real mistake here, hand serving a sound bite to the media -
And you send back a couple of likely late in the round picks... and spare parts. If they were on expiring deals, you could maybe see it if the players essentially forcing their way out. But Wilson re-upped in April of this year.
-
Everyone talked about them during last season like it’s a down year despite the results. I think they have a better team this year regardless of records.
-
All this talk about the Wild Card race leaves out the fact that because of scheduling weirdness these teams in the hunt will all be playing each other in the coming weeks, sometimes twice. For example, Jags still have the Colts twice, the Broncos and the Chargers. All these teams won't be able to have 2-3 losses for long.

[This is an automated response] As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive topic titles. A single name if far too vague to post as a title and provides little insight into what specifically the post is talking about. The topic starter can edit the topic title line to make it more appropriate. Thank you.

I thought threads like this only appeared in the offseason when people are bored. Unfortunate.

I'd throw multiple draft picks at them for Garrett Wilson, no doubt. He would dominate with Josh throwing him the football. Since we're always picking low, I'd give them 2 firsts, any WR not named Shakir, and not even think twice.

GOOD! Per four senior DHS & Trump admin sources, a mass removal of ICE leadership around the country is underway, with up to 12 ICE field office chiefs being removed & reassigned in an effort to increase deportation numbers. I'm told the move is spearheaded by Corey Lewandowski, and a handful of the ICE Chiefs will likely be replaced by Border Patrol & CBP officials, some of whom will be hand-picked by aggressive & controversial Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino. I'm told some of the ICE leadership removed from their positions include the ICE Field Office Directors in: - Los Angeles - Phoenix - Philadelphia - Denver - El Paso - San Diego - Seattle/Portland - New Orleans Border Patrol officials taking over ICE leadership positions would be extremely significant, as Border Patrol and ICE do different things, and I've done numerous ride-alongs/embeds with both. Generally speaking, ICE typically conducts very targeted operations, largely going after criminal illegal aliens or those with deportation orders, but almost always knowing who they are targeting for arrest, often conducting surveillance to learn their schedules before and waiting hours before arresting them if needed. Border Patrol, under Trump 2.0, while sometimes doing their own targeted operations, has been extremely aggressive and has been at the forefront of some of the most controversial immigration enforcement operations we've seen so far, carrying out roving patrols in Los Angeles, Chicago, etc, often at Home Depot, car washes, flea markets etc, leading to a handful of federal judges around the country issuing injunctions against them. A majority of the viral videos you see online are Border Patrol agents, including the use of a Trojan horse style Penske moving truck at a Los Angeles Home Depot, an operation organized by Bovino. ICE often gets blamed for what Border Patrol does, as the media and activists often cannot tell the difference between federal agents, and everyone is called "ICE". I'm told there are growing concerns about the political and PR fallout associated with some of the roving patrols Border Patrol is conducting as lawsuits continue to stack up and mid-terms approach next year. I'm told there is significant friction within different wings of DHS and the administration, with Border Czar Tom Homan & ICE Director Todd Lyons preferring to prioritize targeting criminal aliens & the "worst of the worst" or those with deportation orders, while DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski, and BP Commander Bovino prefer to use aggressive tactics to arrest anyone in the US illegally, including but not limited to criminals, to ramp up deportation numbers and achieve President Trump's promises of mass deportations. I am hearing from both sides of this friction. One senior DHS official tells me: "ICE started with the worst of the worst, knowing every target they are hitting, but since Border Patrol started in LA in June, we've (DHS) lost our focus, going too hard, too fast, with limited prioritization. It's getting numbers, but at what cost?". Border Patrol agents I've talked to defend their tactics, with one telling me: "What did everyone think mass deportations meant? Only the worst? Tom Homan has said it himself, anyone in the US illegally is on the table." It's quite a situation, as both sides of this are on the same team, with the same end goals, but different perspectives on how to get there. Another DHS official confirmed the personnel changes to me on deep background, adding that the moves are based on performance and doing what is needed to achieve the best results.

How about THEY rebuild themselves better... they should take a cue from Bermuda, that island is much smaller but their building codes are top notch... enough to handle a Cat. 5.

Only in Madden can you force a trade with a division rival where they send you their best offensive and defensive player.

Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
They went 15-2, started 9-0, and benched their starters in week 18. They had 2 losses - @Buffalo, and the super bowl. I'm not sure that would qualify as a "down year" -
Jaguars have a tough road coming up.. Colts twice Broncos Chargers A lot could hinge on those games. Chiefs sort of win either way there. If the Jags beat the Broncos and Chargers that's obviously good for then, but if the Jags lose those games then the Wild Card opens up.
