Moore has done nothing to leap frog Samuel. Imo top you dont need special teams ability in the top 4 after that you do. I have Shavers solid at wr 5. Question do you keep 6? Instead of Codrington Shenualt or Hamler for return duties. I dont want Codrington on the roster. I think Moore is firmly on the bubble. I havent seen anything that warrants him on the roster over Samuel. After that he doesnt offer anything to special teams to warrant a role. Looking at the financials cutting Samuel is pricey. Moore has not warranted that kind of investment. I think Moore the receivers they ran out to start the game last night was pretty indicative of the depth chart, and the lack of availability of Samual and Shakir at the moment. They view Moore in the same role as Shakir. The depth chart has Hamler listed behind Coleman and Samual, which is interesting. Moore played the first half and I believe Hamler played the 2nd half. The reports out of the Bills Bears joint practice was that Moore's connection with Allen was starting to pop and that they connected on some nice chunk plays in 11 on 11s. I think there is more to Moore than what we've seen in our limited view. When Mike White, or even Mitch, is playing QB, I take all WR reps with a grain of salt. Shavers has had some nice moments. The comeback route last night was a good rep. He had a great release on the go route but then started looking back to the QB causing him to slow down and then wasn't able to catch up to White's throw. I think they're going to keep 6 at WR this year: Coleman, Palmer, Shakir, Samuel, Moore, and Shavers. If they keep 6 WR, I'm not convinced they'll keep a roster spot just for return duty. Ray Davis has returned kicks. Shakir has returned punts.

Bad night for the young defensive linemen. Really all of them - Sanders, Walker, Jackson, Solomon, Carter. Sanders and Walker in particular I was hoping to see them build off a good showing last week and instead they mostly laid an egg. Disappointing to see them struggle when the Bears had their starting OL out there, more disappointing when it continued even when their 2nd and 3rd stringers got on the field. Walker had that one really good pass rush at the end of the 1st half, other than that I saw him get out leveraged all night. Sanders was getting blown off the ball on combo blocks and in general was just totally ineffective pushing the pocket. Oh well. I was probably getting my expectations too high after their performance last week. I expect both to look better when they are used situationally and with established players next to them instead of fellow rookies. Carter continues to look like a complete bust. If you watched the game blind and didn't know he was a 3rd round pick last year you wouldn't think he was going to make the roster. This is a guy they are hoping to be their backup 1T this season presumably with an ability to take on doubles and shed blocks, and instead he is getting stonewalled by a 3rd string RG as the RB runs right past him for their 5th TD of the night. Solomon I didn't watch as closely as the DTs but when I did see him he was getting walled off and was getting no push. I saw one good reports where he at least walked the RT back but I'd hoped to see more from a player that reportedly had a good training camp. Landon Jackson I'll say it at least wasn't as abysmal a performance as he had last week, so baby steps and all that, but still doesn't look like a player that deserves to dress on game days and that is a poor outcome for a high 3rd round pick. The young DL was the primary thing, maybe the only thing, I really cared about last night and I came away disappointed to say the least. None of these guys are starters but they are all supposed to play important roles this season so I wanted to see more flashes.

We were in Chicago on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and we took a small tour bus around the eastern part of the city. The driver pointed out the original stadium and then the expensive addition on the top of it, the part that looks like a UFO landed on it. So Chicago spent all that money on upgrading their current stadium and now they're going to spend billions on a brand new stadium. The old one is near Lake Michigan which is also where the museums etc are, and Wrigley Field is also on the eastern side of the city but farther north. Maybe the new location was chosen to try to spread the wealth or maybe it was to reduce traffic congestion on game days.

Yeah, this. Bishop starts 2 yards inside him, sprints to about 2 yards OUTSIDE of him. Leverage was absolutely awful. It's hard to really know what the issue is here: 1) This seems like basic level stuff for pro DBs. 2) Hopefully our safeties aren't asked to run a lot of man at the LOS against slot corners 3) He has missed significant time 4) We want these mistakes made in pre-season but this, again, seems like basic leverage concept. 5) Is the game too fast for him? 6) Are we over reacting to 1 pre season play?

I dont expect him to be anything but a core teamer. That will get him a handful of offensive snaps a game. That type or wr will play on Sundays. Bond would need injuires for him to see the field.

This seems like the year we might carry six WRs on the strength of Shavers, and Shenault's ST abilities.

Bishop seemed to be ok in man to man here with Odunze.

It's 100% true. Trubisky has proven to be awful throughout his career. Mike White was already that crappy AFC East QB, and would quickly shift to the worst in the division. And yeah, Buechele blows. He's camp fodder. 3-4 wins without Allen. The Bills have one stud on this team. To me, that's mind boggling 8 years into a regime. They get credit for Allen for sure. But geez, otherwise, it's a collection of medicore talent all over the field. I mean, really, with all of the WR injuries that the Bills have had, does it really matter which three are left out there starting? They have like 12 WR's on the roster, it seems, and all of them are mediocre. And really, none look better than Shavers. To me, it's just as frustrating not equipping Allen with talent than it is not making the playoffs for almost 2 decades. Just my opinion. The same result is coming again from the same exact blueprint we've tried for the last 7 years.

I dont see much of a pick. I think he jumped outside too quick and then wasnt ready for the inside move and got out of phase. Its a sorta tough assignment being off ball man coverage on a WR. he failed at it and hopefully grows.

I tend to agree - this is a purgatory team similar to the Fitz-era Bills without Allen. 6 to 9 wins, showing up "in the hunt" towards the end of the season. Note how the media said the Cook signing was all about taking the pressure off of Allen. The problem all along has been a travesty of a defense in the playoffs giving up 30+ points a game. That has always been the problem with Allen feeling the need to put on the cape, and you'd think someone - anyone - would notice this and call them out about it. Sadly, we are where we are and you can expect more of the same this year.

Hamlin by all accounts is a solid Special Teams player and as a backup he's a solid player if you gotta plug him in for injury. He's a cheap good backup who adds value on Special Teams. Not sure who is that much better off the bench? Are we really that thrilled with Forest or the rookie or Lewis?

From my limited viewing last night nobody seemed to have any energy and at one point Mike White was seen yawning. I had read somewhere that the joint practices got quite chippy, so was this grouping a way to prevent injuries possibly? Few looked like they were making the 53 from what I saw. preseason is preseason but that was embarrassing

No I think he was. My bad. Regardless he didn't lose on the play because he just got out "athleticismed" he got beat mentally before he got beat physically.

the matchup of our defense against the offense; especially certain QB's. Tua, Jackson, and others cannot process our defense like others or teams better run on offense lie the Rams, Chiefs, and yesterdays Bears.

The truth of it is probably somewhere in the middle. Hamlin is just good enough to be a viable in our scheme. That being said, if the defensive front isn't generating pressure then Hamlin is going to get exposed, hard. It used to be that our safeties and secondary helped hide all the problems we had with our defensive line. Now we need it to be the opposite. Whether or not it's going to work remains to be seen.

This exposed alot of guys on the bubble. Shavers and Hancock are the only bright spots. White, Moore, Andresson and Bishop disappointed as guys looking to take a step forward. Bishop as a starter getting shook for a TD is tough. On the flip side WR3 should win vs a safety. Moore and White are looking to take spots as WR4 and QB2. Neither seems very likely imo. Joe looks less and less like an NFL linebacker. Too far behind in coverage ability. Ok on teams but at this point simply a core teamer. I think its a farewell to Codrington. Not a NFL corner. Played outside cb last year and nickel this year. Good at neither. Not dynamic enough imo to be a return specialist only. I think Shenault is live going into game 3 for a final roster spot. Return man who will play all teams with some juice to play offensive snaps.
