The problem with these newer manual reel mowers is they are cheaply made, and little care is placed in their manufacturing. Grass is ripped, whereas the manual reel mowers of the 50s actually sheared the grass. My father had conniptions because our mailman would toss the twine from mail bundles onto the grass, screwing up the sharpness of the reel. The air would be blue with curses when that happened. 🤬

I really don't know how much healthier we can expect to be that late in the season. That was the healthiest we have been in years.
