Game week thread - Bills at Texans TNF

Why is Hartman out? -
All I know is that our front seven do not stop the run well and lack a pass rush. Bad combination! Our DB’s have to make far too many tackles.

The more I think about this game the more I think James Cook needs to be the star. If you can find a way to get Cook around 100 yards in the game the Texans safeties can be had. They haven’t been great in the deep middle of the field this year, and that might be the only real weak spot on their D

I think the Bills defense under McD demonstrated several years ago in the wind game against NE that they strive to make offenses one dimensional... as long as that dimension isn't running the ball. The more things change...

Should we look to trade Keon after this season?
artmalibu replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall
I say no to the trade because he is still worth more to the Bills than any other team. The biggest problem with him is the expectations, he is not the type of WR who is a #1. I thought at best he was a #2, he was not known for his route running, speed or being shifty, he is big and physical. He projects well to win jump balls and block downfield. The bigger issue is the the Bills have a weak pass game plan. Three guys got here to produce less than they did with lesser QBs. So, I do believe he is more talented than his production suggests. Bean did not miss on the talent but did miss on the guy. I would not try to trade him since he has no value. They should try to develop him as he does have tools that could be useful. If at the end of the next preseason the light doesn't go on for him trade him for a bag of used footballs or cut him and move on. -
Gotta get this game on Thursday. If we get the W? We're right there among the Colts, Broncos, and Patriots. Colin Cowherd having Ravens (5-5) 2 spots ahead of us on his Hierachy is absolutely laughingly bad. We'll see this Thursday if that holds up.

So you are saying it’s not about the people but it’s about people that know how to do the job? It seems like that’s a serious contradiction. I want the personnel on the field that are more likely to do the correct thing

It’s personal reasons…rumor has it it’s for the birth of his child but I don’t think he wants to be public about it -
Exactly. Each week this year is like a box of chocolates lol
-
Texans are third in their division and have no room for error
-
Let's get the W Then all we need is the Pats* to drop one game somewhere. Then it's on!
-
man, Stroud missing so much time is concerning
-
What's going on with Shakir? He reaggravate his injury? If he's out I expect Coleman will then be active. Playing is another story.
-
Ya I'm not against them if they work, just feel like we've seen alot of them since the bye week

Should we look to trade Keon after this season?

Pretty sure we currently have a good o-line. And I'm not definitely defending Beane here. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-sacked-quarterbacks-this-season Otherwise, James Cook wouldn't be getting good yardage numbers and Josh Allen would be top 5 in the NFL in getting sacked. -
I think defenses have decided that James Cook has to be stopped and are stacking the box more in the last couple games (Miami and Tampa) In the Buccaneers game, I think Brady started to figure that out and adjusted his strategy accordingly. Houston will look at what Buffalo did and try to counter it. That's how the NFL works. The best teams are not one dimensional. If opponents focus on shutting down one aspect of their offense, they will have the ability to do something else. No defense can shut down everything at the same time. Most of the time there is a guessing game going on between offensive and defensive coordinators on opposing teams when the teams are multidimensional.

I'm expecting a painful day when the Bills D gets shredded by a back up QB and Josh has to outscore whatever they give up. Sweep the leg!

It was one of his statement “don’t ever question me, Gordy” games. He was amazing, unfortunately, a few will still question him. I believe Chris Berman mentioned that Otto Graham had 3 pass/3 rush TDs in a 1950s championship game? So, it may be distinguishing from that. That said, up thread @Big Turk mentioned something about Otto Graham getting those six TDs with only like 160 yards of offense. Josh doing it with the offense he produced yesterday, with all three passing TDs being from 25 yards+, and doing it twice in his career makes it more impressive. Appreciate ya, bro. Go Bills!
