Assuming Benford plays.. The hope is probably this: Our ends have to contain rush on Lamar and set the edge against the run. The good thing is Bosa & Rousseau are elite run defenders and Epenesa/Jackson both have frames to do the above. Walker & Sanders have to be ready from jump. Nothing more needs to be said. Oliver & Jones should be fine but we’re going to need our two rookies to be ready to step up out the gate. Milano, Bernard and Johnson along with Williams all have to stay healthy this game and make an impact. Reason to believe they can. Especially with no Likely and if Ricard doesn’t play (Would help Taron a lot). Benford & Rapp need to stabilize the secondary and we’ll need Bishop & whoever plays CB2 to be serviceable, at least. Honestly, I think it all comes down to the DL. We don’t know what this starting line looks like with Bosa. Does his presence also help level up Oliver and Rousseau? Then we need our rookies to make an impact out the gate. If they can.. we’re in this.. if not.. our rotation will get eaten up and it will stress our back seven a ton.

What about Beane? The WR's and TE's are average. The OL is solid but from the skill positions its Allen and Cook who are the top playmakers. Shakir is a good WR and would make an excellent #3 and a good #2 but he shouldn't be the Bills #1 WR. We all know about the problems with the defense. Beane spent all offseason trying to strengthen this side of the ball. McDermott deserves his share of the blame for the playoff failures, but Beane is the GM, and he put this roster together. The Bills have an elite level QB with a good but not great roster.

The first game is always such a crap shoot. I’ll worry about the injuries once we see the inactive list on Sunday night. The Bills will hold back anyone with even a minor soreness out of practice so we really have no idea how significant the recent ones are. If they are missing Richard and Likely thats 2 guys who usually destroy us and should give our D some breathing room especially if the revamped D line shows up. That’s the key right there - keep the LB’s clean to make tackles and contain rush Lamar.

I think the only way this team has a shot at getting to the Super Bowl is if all their playoff games are played in OP and they get WC weekend off. I don't want a playoff game at Arrowhead or Baltimore. The chances the Bills win there in the playoffs are not good. The Bills have the best homefield advantage in the NFL, they need to take advantage of that come playoff time.
