How would you handle this WR Room for the rest of the season/playoffs?

Those are clearly the 3 Josh trusts most.

 

Then add Cooks because he is a quality Vet.  

 

Then I guess you are stuck with Palmer?  Although I’d personally bring back Elijah Moore.  He could at least fill in the Shakir role if needed.

 

There’s no reason to have a third blocking wr in Coleman(Davis and shavers1/2) 

Palmer’s comeback route yesterday, sadly, was the most professional route I’ve seen a WR run for us all year. 
 

I think it’s imperative that Josh and Palmer develop some chemistry before the playoffs.

At this point for the most part our WR's are blockers and that's about it ... Shavers and Davis are perfect in their roles ... Shakir is woefully misused catching mostly passes behind the LOS ... Palmer hasn't done much more than Samuel ... Hardman fumbled away a punt return in his only game with us ... Cooks dropped an easy big yardage pass ... Coleman is late again. 

 

The Bills are a run first team with a majority of the passes going to TE's ... waiting until halftime for Josh to put on his cape is not the best idea.

 

Poor game plans Offensive and Defensive are putting this team in a hole early, not a good idea with the playoffs on the horizon.

And even with that he didn't come back to the ball. If the DB doesn't slip he invites the pass to be undercut while he's standing still waiting for the pass to arrive

Coleman had one chance to prove that he belonged yesterday and he dropped it. I think that was the one where we lucked out and got a defensive penalty anyway. Bottom line, he can’t even come up with a catch when it is his turn.

I don't think it was a poor offensive gameplan that got us in the hole last night. Defensively we were outcoached pretty comprehensively in that first half (then turned the tables after half time) but offensively it was execution - Cooks drops a bomb on the first play of the game. Then at 3rd and 4 Palmer stupidly false starts and puts us in 3rd and long where they heat up Josh and he is sacked. The third drive I think you can question the call on 3rd and 15.... if you are going to throw a short pass to Shakir there to get half of it back, which is what they did, then you better be willing to go for it on 4th down. Otherwise let Josh throw deep on 3rd down... you might at least get a DPI. But largely I think the hole on offense was on players not gameplans.

Send them all on go routes and work the middle/sides with the TEs and RBs

I’d still run lots of 2 and 3 TE sets we have 3 TEs that Josh trust and makes the run game much more difficult. But with those send Cooks deep or Shavers or Davis in for more blocking on a play action.

people are griping about our poor receivers. why not get our great RBs out in routes against LBs?!

Assuming all our receivers are healthy, which is admittedly an asinine assumption that has never come close to happening all year, I'd probably go with Palmer, Cooks, and Shakir as the starting three.  And then maybe Gabe (for blocking and scramble drills), Hardman (for speed), and Shavers (blocking, size, effort).  

 

Keon would be demoted to the PS.  

 

But other than Shakir, there are no locks on the 53, which is a weird situation for an NFL contender to be in.

Cooks drop was abysmal, seriously WTH?  Coleman is a waste of a roster space, healthy scratch him unless we have injuries.

Defensively in the first half we seem to be out coached every game. Maybe it's just me but it seems our opponent scores a TD on their first possession every game, that's just not good game planning IMO.

 

We put what 7 points on the board in the first half ? ... With Josh Allen as QB that's pitiful. Not scoring in the first half or scoring very little also seems to be becoming a trend ... I get it, players dropping passes, receivers jumping Offside happens, with this team quite often, that's coaching to a degree as well. Handing the ball to Cook on every first down seems to have been figured out by DC's.

 

Thankfully the second half of games Josh puts on his Superman costume, the Defense remembers how to play and they come back for the victory more often than not. Sometimes I wonder if they ignore coaching in the second half and play their own brand of football.

 

And I get we have seemingly more injuries than most teams but that just feels like deja vu all over again. I say that yearly.

It may "seem" like that but I don't really think its true. Both the Houston game and the Cincy game the coaching was not the major problem in the first half. Both those games were primarily execution fails by the players on the field - particularly our tackling. There were players in position to make plays - that's all a coach can do - the players failed to make them. This was a coaching mismatch first half though. McDaniels had McDermott on his heels and was finding ways to stress our defense with clever playcalling and good scheming. The only other game this season where I put a terrible defensive first half so squarely on coaching is the Atlanta game and Babich had playcalling removed from him at halftime in that game.

The only coaching fail on offense first half was the 3rd and 15 pass in the flat to Shakir which is only a sensible option if you are already decided you are going or trying a long FG on 4th down. If there is a chance there that you are punting that can't be the playcall. Otherwise players miscues were the problem. Players have the make the plays that are there to be made and avoid the mistakes. That is their responsibility.

Yeah Ty Johnson as the TB and James Cook in the slot; Stack the box and then who? defends Cook in space, where he is elite.

Something went wrong with the pass protection on this play. 4 OL are blocking 3 rushers, which left 2 free rushers right up the middle. 1 of those needed to be picked up obviously and then you see what happens with Allen vs 1 free rusher. Too many pass pro breakdowns against blitzes this year but they tend to figure it out as the game goes along and they certainly did in this one.
