Big takeaways from the more sober Pats podcasters on Victory Monday.

 

1. Vrabel's defensive philosophy couldn't stop the run. Belichick's defenses were based on gap integrity and containment, so all runs were funneled to the middle of the field for enormous DTs and ILBs to clean up. Vrabel's are based on penetration and disruption, which the Bills capitalized on to generate displacement. Example: on the go-ahead TD run by Cook, the Pats DT fires upfield and O'Cyrus just waved him by and walled him off, while the rest of the OL works downfield and Cook runs into the space 

 

2. Drake Maye shrank in the moment.

 

3. DALTON KINCAID IS THEIR ONLY RECEIVER, HOW IS HE RUNNING WIDE OPEN AGAINST A COVER 2 SHELL ON 3-7?!?

The early season game, it was close enough that Diggs had to continue to be calm and dialed.

 

This game was not the case.  3 catches for 26 yards and a complete non-factor.  Woof.  And I have no ill feelings towards Hollins, guy went out and got some money after a good year with us.  Just laughed when Maye went to him one too many times and White got the INT.

Yeah I'm probably being a little butt hurt about Hollins. I just feel like he could recognize how much his stock grew during his year with us and dial it back. But he is who he is and that's what makes him an awesome dude.

 

Diggs, to your point, proved once again why he's unreliable as someone you can count on. Great player, but he thrusts himself into leadership roles and just doesnt get it.

Agree. If the Pats beat Baltimore but lose to Miami and we win out we win the division. If they lose to Baltimore and beat Miami we don't. If we win out and the Pats do drop a divisional game (let's say week 18 to Miami) then we almost certainly slot in as the #2 seed. 

 

I'd much rather they beat Baltimore personally so that our choices week 18 are:

 

- win the division and be the #2 seed hosting the Chargers and then probably the Texans in the divisional round with the AFCCG @ Denver; or

- #5 seed going to the Steelers; then probably to Denver then possibly to the Texans. 

 

I'm not sure I have a preference between those two options. Neither is easy. But we have a Quarterback advantage in every one of those matchups.

Years ago when I worked in a K12, the facilities manager / head custodian was a Pats fan because his neighbor growing up ended up on the Pats in the 80s (this was in Hawaii, so there's no real "default" team everyone roots for). Every Monday was just each of us throwing jabs at eachother's teams for at least 20 minutes. 

 

It was fun. He's the only Pats fan I met that wasn't entirely insufferable.

What a win! Bills played a great game.

Josh hit Cooks in the bread basket in the first Quarter - that would have changed the game instantly. That was a big bobble. But I liked seeing Cooks can get open on that route and Josh can make the play. We will see that again!

Our D played awesome! Switched up the looks at the line many times. Maye had no clue what was coming.

Maye is OVERHYPED. I agree 100% with the many sentiments above - he is the definition of JAG.

The Pats will lose to Balt and Miami. They are not a good team and it's December football. Lot's of whiny weenies on that team, Maybe being the leader.

The Bills look to be en-route to the bowl baby. Best team in AFC and it ain't close!

My favorite part of that was watching Hollins track the deep ball.  Seen that movie before.  He'd make a terrible outfielder.

Denver looked pretty good beating GB yesterday. I am not saying the Bills can't beat the Broncos (they can), but it will be a tough game at Mile High if the Bills have to go there.

That ***** idiot Vrable is bitching about the Bills not having any offensive holding penalties called on them, completing ignoring the offensive holding penalty that wiped out Allen's rushing TD that made it 28-24 Bills. What a douchy franchise.

Yes! Said nearly the same thing about Hollins to my son last year after the Houston game (he's a baseball player). Dude can't track the deep ball!
