Has Josh Allen put himself back in the race for MVP this year??

I'm not absolutely sure, please correct me if wrong.  

 

Doesn't Allen have more wins this season when his defense surrenders 30 points or more than the entire league combined?

 

If that stat doesn't scream MVP, I don't know what does.

Maye is +400 or +425 in second place  

 

Allen in third place still odds wise at +500 or +550 depending on the Book.

 

 

So as of right now Stafford and Maye are still the favorites over Allen although Allen closed a big gap today, Odds wise.

 

When it comes to MVP the only thing that matters is what the Odds are at the Sports Book, that will tell you every year who will win it.

The Seahawks coming back to win was huge for Allen MVP chances, because the narrative for Stafford is so strong for Allen to jump him the Rams will need to be a wild card and the Bills will need to win their division (and likely #2 seed). For Allen to win MVP, the following need to happen:

 

1. Play well statistically the last few games. He can have maybe one more turnover.

2. Bills win out.

3. Pats lose to the Dolphins.

4. Rams lose to the Seahawks this Thursday night.

 

If the Rams beat the Seahawks this Thursday, it is over. Stafford will win MVP, because the Rams will win their division.

Will be very surprised if Stafford doesn't win it.  He had a big game today, put up better stats than Allen today.  It's Stafford's award to lose.  Allen will need to go 3-0 with some very good numbers and Stafford will need to fall off a good deal, else Stafford wins it.

The stats you looked at may not have been updated with all of today's games yet. But your point is taken. I think winning your division and/or playoff seeding (for any of the three of them) will also matter. But, to clarify...

 

Matt and Josh both have 37 total TDs on the year.

 

Josh has 10 Ints, Matt has 5 Ints; but according to stat muse, Josh has lost 2 fumbles on the year, while Matt has lost 3 fumbles on the year.

 

So, the turnover totals are Stafford: 8; Josh: 12 (not quite as bad as 5-12)

About what I expect the odds to be right now. Allen cut his in half from what around +1000? And he is now nearly dead even with Maye. 

 

We might see all three about even around +120 if Allen has another 3+ TD game and W against the Browns and both the Pats and Rams lose next week. Doesn't seem that unlikely a scenario either.

How so? More yards does not equal better stats. Allen had both a higher passer rating and higher QBR.

 

Allen played in the elements and led his team back from 21-0 deficit. Stafford played in the comforts of SoFi stadium.

It would have been nice to have another regular season MVP...But the Bills have bigger things in front of their sight.

Let me ask you this... what would the Bills and the Rams won-lost records be if the QBs changed places?

 

I'll answer it for you (and I know you wouldn't argue)... the Bills would have fewer wins and the Rams would have more wins.

 

And that's the single bullet point for anyone in a position to lobby for Josh's candidacy.

I'm absolutely not good with it and I would not flippantly concede an MVP after Josh was gipped out in 2023... to allow Lamar Jackson to get his 2nd.

 

Josh had 51 total TDs that year to Jackson's 29. Josh had 22 total turnovers to Lamar's 13 so Josh had 9 more turnovers.

 

Does anyone think that the 9 turnovers should outweigh 22 more TDs?

 

One could actually argue that 2024 was the makeup call for Josh... it's like the shyt makeup call... do two wrongs make a right?

 

The MVP should go to the most deserving player.

Allen has beat Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow and Maye in one season.  And came up from behind in three of those victories while he himself, made game changing plays.

 

He’s the MVP.
