Bills broke a team record for futility.   They lost the last 25 games when they give up 21 first half points.  Today they broke that awful streak.

The Bills DBs had really good coverage on a lot of completions this afternoon, but throw after throw hit the receivers in the hands, in stride, shoulder height.  It was an incredible display of throwing. 

 

The Bills defense is known by everyone as a bend don't break style. The Bills challenge teams to put together long drives without making mistakes. Well, Burrow does not make mistakes. He always knows where the ball should go, and he always makes the throw.  He doesn't always make the special plays the Mahomes, Jackson and Allen make, but when he has an opportunity to make a throw, he makes it. And he has Gisecki, Chase, and Higgins who can get an edge and catch the ball with their hands. 

 

Bills are fortunate when they beat the Bengals.

Dolphins probably should’ve beat the pats last time they lost by achane having a toe out of bounds 

Dolphins are 5-1 in their last 6 and have the Steelers, Bengals and Bucs (who just lost to the Saints) coming up. It isn't impossible that the Dolphins are 9-6 the final week going into Foxboro and playing for a chance at the last Wild Card spot depending on the outcomes of other games.

This their defense is practice squad quality and they have zero depth anywhere.

Watching this game today, I just don’t understand how the bengals pass-catchers catch like that. We saw multiple high-point contested catches, multiple 1-handed catches, multiple toe tap catches, diving catches. Higgins, Gisesecki, Chase, Brown. All in the snow. Higgins even caught the ones that were thrown out of bounds.

 

is this normal?

I was thinking the same thing multiple times!   No one on the Bills O makes catches like that… ever.    Such a luxury some QBs have.

The Bills Defense was on roller skates today. Just could not cover these dudes. But two monster takeaways saved the day. 

 

Im really hoping the good mojo from this stadium transfers over to the new Highmark. I don’t think it’s automatic that it will.

What sucks is that despite investing on the DL instead, the defense is only marginally better than Cincinnati’s. Luckily for Beane and McDermott, they have a big eraser in Josh Allen.

Living in Cincinnati, I watch the Bengals a lot. They do this all the time. The offense scores points, seemingly at will. Guys make unbelievable plays. Highlight reel stuff. But then they lose in ways that just crush their fans. Today was pretty typical of the way they have played all season, with both Burrow and Flacco. In fact, the most remarkable thing about the game today was the fact that the Bills somehow kept Ja'Marr Chase in check.

I was in the middle group. Benford glanced over his shoulder and saw Chase and started changing his angle and I'm pretty sure that's when Chase knew it was over.

 

I was there, and I agree. It looked to me like Chase was gaining on Benford slowly and I worried that he had another gear, but as soon as Benford headed off to his right, I could see that Benford would make it to the end zone. 

 

I haven't read the entire thread, so I don't know if others have commented on Benford generally. I thought he was fabulous. He was matched up with Chase more or less all the time, and Chase didn't do much at all. Five catches for 44 yards, and one run for 8. I didn't notice that the Bills were doubling him much.

 

The last time we saw the Bills do that with a defensive back was Tre White in his prime, and even then the Bills generally were mixing it up. This was the Bills deciding, correctly, that Benford could turn it into a 10-on-10 game, and he did. That's pretty impressive.

They had a nearly perfect game outside of that Higgins drop it was pretty wild 

 

just watched the Texans passcatchers blow more catches the last 2 mins than the bengals did all game lol

Thanks! This is a helpful sanity check. I’ve just never seen anything like this, from so many players in such tough conditions. Both Higgins TDs and the Brown TD were obscene.
