I think I'm good on just stringing this season out and making changes in the offseason. In retrospect I'm glad they didn't give up that 1st for Waddle. Hopefully Allen protects himself the rest of the year and we'll enter a new chapter in 2026.

I’m afraid Waddle will be better than anyone we have starting WR in 2026. Is there anyone on your radar or hoping? Not much there for free agency even before guys get resigned

Absolutely. I saw today that Buffalo is projected at pick 22. Still a lot of football left and if we make the playoffs that could go up to the high 20s...

But it could go lower too with the schedule we have. Would be a good year for Beane to move up the board a considerable amount for an Elite WR.

He would be. However, any team that claims him would be on the hook for his contract as written. I don't think anyone's going to take on that contract. So he'll likely go unclaimed.

However, after publicly dealing with and inactivated a player for missing meetings - bringing in a WR released for missing meetings would take some not caring about the optics or not caring about why he was released. I would do it. But I'm not sure this regime would.

if his guarantees are voided, it makes for an interesting conversation about taking on the deal

you could bail at half time of the third game if he’s a mess

Things change very fast in the NFL. No one thought DK Metcalf would be available this past offseason. So I don't know who but someone will be available. We just need the right people in charge that understand you have to prioritize that position over everything else.

Not even a contender with extra cash?

9 mil cap hit this year, largely already paid out.

15 mill next year and then could be reworked in 2028 or take 21 in dead $$$

I suppose the injury issue and the negative reports likely make this not worth it.

I mean, I didn't say it's impossible no one claims him. Just unlikely. When players with massive contracts are released, 9 times out of 10 teams pass and then try to court them as a Free Agent, where they can get a deal done for a lesser amount structured the way they want.

It is possible someone wants him so badly they don't risk not being the winner in the FA sweepstakes. But given the size of that contract, him coming off a major injury, and being released for issues - I don't see teams lining up to take that deal.

I was getting killed for saying I'd avoid giving up this years 1st if at all possible before the deadline. I just didn't see this team being one player away (even a WR1 like Olave or Waddle) from winning a Championship.

They would have just made us slightly more competitive. There's just *too* many flaws with this roster and coaching staff. With our luck of late, the player would go down (especially with Olave's injury history), we'd do what we're doing now, and go into next season without a pick that's almost assuredly going to be world's better than we've had since 2019.

Picking somewhere between 12-18 is a very real scenario.

Have you heard any rumblings about changes to the front office? Because what is crazy is I think Beane really does feel he has invested significantly at WR. Keon was his first draft pick in 2024 and Palmer was his biggest free agent signing in 2025 (And he would probably argue that Kincaid is a receiving threat too and he was the first pick in 2023). Obviously they are woefully inadequate when you basically neglect WR for the previous 4 years.

Someone will be available next offseason via trade, but will Beane have the gumption to spend the picks and the money to go get them? with all the criticism he has taken he may…

As for Aiyuk, if he makes it to the Bills on waivers he needs to be added. Best case scenario he is the piece that unlocks our passing game and helps us go on a playoff run that likely goes through playoff newbies in NE, Denver and Indy. He is a really good receiver when healthy.

Or maybe he just accrues some good stats and then he goes and gets a decent size contract with another team in FA and we get a comp pick in 2027.

Or worst case scenario is he does nothing, he walks at the end of the year and you move on like the Ravens did with Dionte Johnson a few years ago.

And lost to the Chiefs. Sounds like our GMs struggles hmmmmmmm.

Yeah, but he did it with Garoppalo  and Purdy🤣

If he had Allen, who knows.

Bills would look silly to bench Coleman for missing meetings… and then replace him with a WR who was cut for missing meetings.

I know we're talking hypothetically, but are you serious? 🤣

The 49ers passing offense is predicated in QBs getting the ball out quick to open areas in the field. Yesterday and other games this season have shown Josh doesn't always do this or when he doesn't get struggles horribly.
