Game week thread - Bills at Texans TNF

We need to play this game like we have played the jets.

 

no turnovers, very conservative on offense, let Houston make the mistakes. 
 

they have an elite defense and nothing on offense. Our ST and defense should be winning this game.

We aren’t stopping anyone. The last thing we need is to get in a spot where on the last drive they can go down and beat us. Our only shot is to blow them out. Gotta get up 2 or 3 scores. Block it up and let Josh and cook make plays

I said in the off-season, Rudolph should have been the starter in Pittsburgh and they should have passed of Rodgers. Aaron doesn't offer anything more than Rudolph does these days. The team likes playing for Rudolph as well. He can execute the gameplan and doesn't turn the ball over a ton. Honestly, I think I'd rather play against Rodgers because he's a statue these days 

Regardless of your thoughts on Stroud and Rodgers, they are definitely better than Mills and Rudolph. That’s why they are unquestioned starters.

on then there’s very little chance they can score that much. Even on us. The last thing I want to do is to get in a low possession, 13-9 game with them. We need to let it fly and try our best to use our strength. Do not play a low possession game. We need as many chances as possible 

I won't say ball control but play a mistake free game. Houston has trouble scoring so don't gift them with INTs and fumbles, that might be the only way they win.

In a black and white world, you would be correct. In a world with nuance, that's not always the case. Just because Mike Tomlin views Rodgers as an unquestioned starter doesn't make him right.

I really like this thinking.  . I would love to see Buffalo capitalize in a turnovers contest.

 

as far as special teams go  it's  been a minute since we have really mentioned them in any such positive light. 

 

I would love to see more of that also.  🙂

Correct.  When the Bills played the Steelers in the playoffs two years ago, their starter, Kenny Pickett, was hurt.  Rudolph played in his place and I thought he was a much better option than Pickett.  In fact, Rudolph played quite will in that game, much better than Pickett would have, IMO.

That argument may work with an “unknown” as the number 2. You could say, “Rodgers hasn’t been great and I believe that ____” could be better. Rudolph is not that unknown. He’s a bad player with 32 appearances and 8 years in the league. He’s a functioning number 2 I guess but he’s not on the level of a low end starter. Even if you believe Rodgers is the 25th best QB in the world, or whatever, there isn’t an argument to be made that Rudolph is above that.

He played with one arm yesterday. It’s clear as day he’s playing hurt. Totally ineffective. Must’ve reinjured it during the game.

We just need to take care of the football in this one. The Texans will keep points off the board but their offense is so lethargic no matter who the QB is that as long as you aren't gifting them field position, you'll be fine. 

 

Can't wait for Woody Marks and the corpse of Nick Chubb to run for 250 against us though

It’s really weird but as bad as the defense is 90% of the game they seem to come up with late stops a good amount haha I really don’t understand it

The Bucs punted 4 times yesterday. Now, one of them resulted in pinning the Bills deep and the resulting INT, and another of them was a Hardman fumble and a TD, but the D did force 4 punts.

Hopefully we get a W in Houston on Thursday, if we do, what are the odds that Cinci beats the Patriots next week. The game is in Cincinnati so, maybe we have that going for us?

So here is the balance - you want to go all out and let Josh sling the ball all over the place, there is higher chance for a turnover. You want to minimize mistakes then I think it is likely a low scoring game because their D is going to make stops if you expect us to have  8+ play drives to score.

Good that it’s in Cincy and that Bengals are theoretically still alive. I think Bengals could give Pats a serious run for the money
