I bet anything Bosa wasn’t “really bad”

Was a mess on several big plays in the 1st half, is what I was noting. Invisible otherwise. Not sure that's debatable, but have at it, good sir.

there’s just no way that this dude was “really bad” except maybe relative. He is NOT the problem.

Why is there no way? For a guy who registered exactly ONE TACKLE today, nothing else, AND lost contain on at least a few big plays, how is that not at least way below average for a starting veteran DE? Especially bad for a guy with his pedigree and ability.

Oh, he's certainly got a bad wheel.

I was referring more to his reads, decisiveness and overall impact.

No disagreement there. That's always been the biggest difference between Bernard over Tremaine.

I just don’t buy it dude. I’ve been told groot is awesome and he never posts numbers yet Bosa is now your A1 worst player on defense this game? I just doubt it.

Two things can be true.

1. Bosa has been pretty good this year

2. He had a a bad game.

He lost contain on a ton of runs and didn't have much pass rush at all today

I just said he looked really bad in the 1st half, losing contain on several big plays that specifically took advantage of him, while also only recording 1 tackle all game (no other stats). Nothing there to "buy" tbh. Just kinda what it was today. I still need to dive in on the 2nd half, but it's super doubtful he's gonna show up positively, given the utter lack of registered statistics. It's not a crusade. It's just what today was for him. I didn't mention Rousseau, who is in my opinion an underwhelming, complimentary edge player.

They're usually good at End with troubles on the inside, but today all 4 positions really struggled.

They should have plenty of gas in the tank for Thursday <_<

Okay, maybe I’m a little sensitive because I feel like we got at least one dude In Bosa. My bad.

Ya it was an interesting matchup today as it was strength on strength (our ends vs their tackles) and weakness on weakness. (Their backup guards against our backup DTs)

Bucs definitely won both those battles as they really controlled the line of scrimmage

The guy can play, no doubt. When healthy, he's been an impact edge. This season, he has been impactful at times, and kind of average overall. Been exploited more often than a vet guy like him should have been, imho, but also showed serious flashes when Oliver and/or Hoecht were on the field. Decent QB hits and FFs and TFLs so far. I like the player on the field. Might do more freelancing than our scheme allows for, the more I think about it...

Hey numb nuts, he had 3 TDs in the first half including an incredible deep pass on a dead play. If you think that is awful, I recommend you watch literally any other game in the league.

You're a good poster but you shouldn't be name calling other posters.

For as much as Tremaine Edmonds gets hate he was always the leader of top 10 defenses in Buffalo.. he had range and tackled

And now has the most interceptions for any linebacker over the last three seasons

We've given tons of guys money but we didn't resign our 6'5 255 lb middle linebacker who could run

The reason the Bills didn't make an effort to re-sign Edmunds is because the NYS Attorney General's office made it clear that they would pursue violations of child labor laws if the Bills persisted in keeping him employed.

On the other hand, Illinois allows 15 year olds to play pro football.

Josh is better with a mix of the occasional deep ball, passing to RB’s, slants, calling his number  & and running the ball.

The overly reliant on the run or pass exclusively is the kiss of death.  If we can occasionally mix the deep ball, and mid-game to the RB’s we’re golden.  Then you watch Cook take over and run over a gassed and off-balance  defense.

You're correct.

I've been saying that to be a complete offense you have to run a complete offense. It sounds stupid to say but you can't be a good passing offense if you don't make it a priority to pass the ball. The Bills season-long habit of over-prioritizing and over-relying on the run has created a situation where they now need to throw the ball more in games in order to become proficient at passing the ball. At this point they're in catchup mode as far as growing their passing game.

Hopefully today is a turning point for the offense.

Guys we need to chill with the biting terrible negativity in early game. It goes too far .

I was critical, but it's focused and based on clear x' s and o' s.  That's fine and understandable.

I stand by my critique of our D but glad we pulled together.

But we just scored 44 ....

Those 1st half and 2nd half gameday threads are embarrassing. The overreactions are honestly pathetic.

Thankfully Benford has his best game of the season today and looked like the 2024 Christian Benford for the first time this year.

We did cover Tampa Bay's weapons pretty well today

I was pretty pleased with that ...

Obviously not the run defense

The weirdest thing I don't understand is when Allen plays this way, he still pretty good with limiting turnovers. His ints in his first 6 years starting are identical to Brady's 1st 6 years starting (78). And Allen had more pass attempts. I think Allen's career int % is 2.3, it's even lower in the playoffs lol

But more strange is when McDermott tries to turn Allen into this 12-15 play checkdown charlie, the chance for mistakes goes up. And the mistakes/ turnovers are at such a higher rate of opportunity cost because you're taking so long to score. It's counterintuitive but you're actually adding more risk by playing a ball control offense with a quarterback like Josh Allen....

It's just mind numbing that McDermott doesn't understand this. The ceiling with Allen being a gunslinger, and having an aggressive downfield passing attack is so much higher than even the most powerful running game.

I'm not saying the bills shouldn't pick and choose when to play ball control offense.

I'm saying the way the bills played offense today should be the foundation of their identity. And I would even add more aggressiveness with more uptempo and going no huddle in certain spots.

Allen is an emotional aggressive downfield passing QB. It's in his DNA to play that way.

Here's what I also know.... I don't know if the bills are going to win the super bowl.

But I 100% do know if they allow Allen to play that way, they can absolutely go win the super bowl and in spectacular fashion. You gotta let him play on the edge. I saw this with Elway & Favre their entire careers. Go rewatch Elway's game vs Cleveland in the 87 AFC championship. It's the same sandlot gunslinger QB as Allen...

If someone made you guess who won the game based on these stats without watching the game and told you that the bills had 3 turnovers, allowed 200 yards rushing, James cook only ran for 48 yards, bills had 25 minutes time of possession and allowed 37 points

how many of you would bet the bills won that game? I know I wouldn’t

Lots of hidden yardage in this one the bills special teams mostly crushed it…bills outgained the Bucs by a ton if you factor in return yardage

You're giving them WAY too much credit.

They could lose to the Bengals, Giants & Miami. They're not that team yet.

I'd be shocked if they had fewer than 5 losses.

You have obviously not objectively watched them play. They may not be "that superbowl team" yet. They are a team that shows up every week and is capable of beating a soft schedule. Im not saying they wont lose but you are underrating what they are compared to their schedule.

I've watched them a few times.

If they had an average schedule, we'd be leading the division right now.  They're very good & improved, but not the team that they're being hyped as.  People are saying that the only losses they can see are against us & the Ravens. They're just not that kind of team yet. They could lose to just about anyone left on their schedule.

McDermott still hasn't figured out that his teams defensive identity doesn't work and that we can't play our DB's ten yards off the ball on passing downs

Do you really think he has even the slightest clue on offense?

I think there's at least some legitimate hope because of how different they called the game offensively today. And it was the fact that the offensive staff kept leaning into being aggressive even after Allen had two turnovers....It was obvious dramatic changes happened. Josh Allen has to be able to play the game to win the game. You don't play the game worrying about turnovers.... you don't play the game worrying about your defense.

But yes I'm still skeptical
