It's all well and good, except that we're still missing the equivalent of that Josh to Diggs connection on "gotta have it" 3rd and 4th downs.  Any argument that we're somehow better off without an elite WR is just coping with the fact that we don't have one.  That's my issue with the everybody eats phrase...it's a matter of circumstance, not intention.

Chiefs were unable to shut down the middle of the field and force the Bills to throw to the outside. KC LBers (especially Tranquil) had a bad game.

 

It worked this time, but we still got almost no WR production down the field (just the Moore pass I think). Everything to Shakir was a screen. We are incapable of throwing to a WR at the boundary 10+ yards down the field which is a big weakness.

 

It’s still a problem that needs to be resolved.

Plus, I go back to the aspect that the Steelers gave up a #2, #6 picks, and 30 million to DK Metcalf, and he is not adding much to their offense. 

 

Ty Johnson and Ray Davis might be used more often in the passing game going forward. Besides, I'm not convinced that OC Joe Brady would put an expensive #1 WR to work like some here think.

When things are going well its fine. If were going to win 3-4 playoff games against playoff defenses. We can not afford to roll out these current guys.

 

When things are rolling like yesterday its great, but you can not let a playoff defense take away 50% of the playing surface. Crowd the line... double Kincaid... commit most resources between hashes, and we become pedestrian quickly.

 

Even if the Olave , Shaheed, Addisons of the world aren't available, we need to bring in a guy thats competent on the outside.

 

Didn't both of our TEs catch deep balls on the outside?   Those were two of the most explosive plays of the came.   This isn't 1970 when blocking TEs only ran 5 yard routes.  It was good play design with TEs that can run like wide receivers.

Can't disagree more with your take on DK.   They'd have a losing record without him.  Rodgers isn't the player he was anymore so DK has had to adapt to playing a shorter game but he's still going to finish around his usual 1,000 and have about 10 TD's.   And the dude is built for playoff football.   When the flags stop flying and the DB's get extra grabby DK has actually gotten better.   Man would he be the ideal X here.

I don’t disagree.  Although NFL player has to be ready at any moment.  When he does get in the game, the word I was searching for earlier is he is timid. Just doesn’t hit the hole hard and doesn’t seem to have the punch like he did last year.

Josh was basically perfect last night, and yet, when we get stuffed or a penalty on first down and get into 2nd and 10 or 3rd and long, our offense is basically dead in the water. And that comes from not having a threat on the boundary.

I’d be interested to see what the chiefs defense success rate on plays like that is…they are probably the best d in the league on obvious passing downs 

 

the bills were 2-5 on 3rd and 5+ I think and their opening drive TD they were knocked back to a 2nd and 14 and scored a td 

 

Josh was great but I think the offense definitely could’ve been better…Hawes dropped that wide open bullet and we missed blitz recognitions/pickups a few times and Spencer brown who was great the rest of the game gave up a quick pressure to karlaftis on that huge 4th and 2 play

When all of that happens to Kincaid, it opens things up for other players on the outside. Thank you for making my point crystal clear for those who didn’t know.

When can we expect that? Have we had a game where our guys lined up out wide have produced?

 

Taking out a wild Ravens game, Keons best game is 45yards 3 catches. 

 

Doing same with Palmer is 60 yds in Falcons game. Other than Baltimore, he hasn't had more than 2 receptions in any game.

 

In 7 games we have had our two outside guys combine for 30 catches (Palmer 9, keon 21). You can project it out to 34 had Palmer been healthy the last two.

 

Even if you think Kinc opens things up for our boundry guys (they certaibly havent shown capable), what are we supposed to if Kincaid is banged up in a playoff game? 

 

Don't get me wrong, I've been banging the Kincaid drum since we drafted him.... but hes been hampered a ton in his 3 years here.

 

We have SB aspirations. Josh Allen at QB... and all it takes is 1 "banged up", not even "out", injury away from relying on Keon Coleman to help us win a SB.

Dalton Kincaid playing like a top 5 Te makes the current offense sustainable and explosive.  Shakir and the Wr fit it around him and the run game.

When Josh is playing well and feeling it, we have plenty of pass catchers.  I'm starting to think if Beane does anything by the trade deadline it's to fortify the line due to losses of Big Ed and Hoecht.

I think Cook can handle the workload.

 

Just don’t have a lot of confidence in Davis..and I suspect he may feel the same way.
