I seem to remember him as a B or C team member for NBC broadcasts during the 70s, and later?

Yeah, he and Don Criqui were together for a long time. I thought they were better than Enberg & Olesen ( Enberg was very biased to the west coast).

I used to enjoy him when he worked with enberg. One by one the sounds of our youth are silenced until the only thing we can hear are the mindless ramblings of Troy aikman

I am old enough to remember watching him play.  I found him to be above average announcer.  Great insight to understand players.

I had his Football card !

He and John Mackey were two of my favorites.

But hell I liked Earl Morrall behind Johnny Unitas and high tops

Yes, and a big Dolphins booster on said broadcasts.

This I remember, although not as much as Griese was, of course.  Always hated when we got Griese for a Bills-Fins game.

If my memory is right--and at this age, it might not be--they were often paired.

Endberg was never a great announcer but he’s one of those voices you grew up listening to.  Probably one of my favorite announcers.  Also a broadcasting pro - he did every sport
