If the Bills win a Super Bowl with McDermott, then he immediately goes to the top of list as the greatest Bills coach of all-time. Same for Beane as GM. But after 9 years of not getting, it done and 8 with an elite level QB then it is fair to question if this FO should be replaced. That's not hating on McDermott and Beane. That's just fans bringing up a good point.

If future history shows that we peaked at 13 seconds, people will rightfully ask why the Bills didnt make changes to seize the moment.  I haven't seen anything from McDermott to suggest he improve the bottom line above where it is right now, and Beane seems to get worse every year.

During NE reign they even weren't at a clip the KC is on for their super bowl runs.  Past 6 superbowls, KC has been in 5.  NE over their 18 yrs they were in 9 superbowls

Strongly disagree.

There are a fair amount of people here that have hated the McDermott hire from the get go. Mainly because they wanted an offensive minded coach to pair with a young Allen. Then their stance was solidified after 13 seconds. There is nothing he can do without those doing everything they can to move credit elsewhere. Should the Bills win a Super Bowl you will see a record number of the "but" posts:  "I'm super happy the Bills win a Super Bowl.....but ..." And they will all be targeted at McDermott.

So, I'm wrong, yet you confirm you would do just what I said at the end of your post. Good stuff! Lol

You’re not wrong.

Oh, and I won’t trade one SB ring for years of sucking. A ring from 1991 or 2022 gives me zero satisfaction as I watch a game this weekend.

It's a great achievement. I really hope KC does not get there again and wreck it. I'm older and was a young guy when they went to the 4 in a row. The young fans of the the NFL (not the Bills) that I have asked (mostly) don't know this happened.

If that is the case, then I would suggest those fans stop following sports. I can only speak for myself but if the Bills win a Super Bowl, it will be the greatest "sports day" of my lifetime being a fan of this team. I won't be complaining about anything when it comes to the Bills. I just want to see them win once. Obviously, I want them to win as many as they can, but one championship would be fine by me in my lifetime. Anyone who complains after winning a championship needs to have their head examined.

But if the Chiefs do it then it becomes an entirely different narrative since theirs would come with Lombardi trophies.

I hate, hate, hate saying this but if the Chiefs get to a 4th one I think we go back to being only known as the 4 time Super Bowl losers instead of the only team to go to 4 in a row

Thats where you just have to let other people's perception and opinion not impact the way you feel about the Bills making it.

Different sport but as an Islanders fan nothing will ever top 5 straight trips to the SC Finals. 19 straight playoff series wins which is still a record that stands today. 4 straight SC championships. With that said that was a lifetime ago just like the Bills 4 straight trips to the Super Bowl. I don't really think about either of those achievements anymore especially the Isles as they currently suck.

What the Islanders did was incredible. As for the Bills I still get random flashback moments of those 4 Super Bowls and they still hurt. lol

I think a lot of you make a lot of this "hatred" up so you feel better. When folks critique McD there is almost never any "hatred". Most critiques are prefaced with what a great guy he is, what a great job he's done on culture and his ability to pull teams out of the basement. And then even with all that disclaiming and qualifying, pointing out any of his glaring flaws gets these over-emotional replies like we're trying to get the guy killed. I think there is obvious reasons McD apologists turn every critique into a discussion about the posters instead of addressing the actual issues with McD.

The assumptions of complaints about a Super Bowl victory is one of the most egregious strawmen I've seen on this board.

I personally, see far less critiques prefaces by the good stuff than I do people just referring to him as McDummy, McClappy or any of the lazy nicknames. The pre critique glazing that you speak of I really only see done with Josh. It's like you need to write a four page essay on him just to say he made one bad read or you get crucified. I, personally, don't see that level of "respect" given to McDermott. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I just never have noticed it being a routine thing here.

I know for a fact myself and others do it. Maybe youre just paying too much attention to the wrong posters.  Go Bills

They were good teams. It's an accomplishment for sure, but I don't really think about those years too much anymore. That run was over 30 years ago at this point.

They should have gotten the first one. It snowballed after that. Then those Cowboys teams were basically unstoppable.

could have won the 2nd one

The Bills being the only team to have ever done it.....is it a point of pride for a Bills fan?  Is it an important record even though the Bills lost all 4?

The Chiefs have a chance to tie that record if they were to make it again this season.

Besides the obvious...if KC makes a 4th in a row, it means the Bills didn't make it this year......but aside from that.....having that record be shared with another team make you mad?  Relieved?  Indifferent?

Seeing the Chiefs constantly win because the refs give them more calls than everyone else does bother me, so it definitely would bug me if they make it to a fourth Super Bowl in a row

Bud you know I like and respect you as you’ve always been in my opinion respectful and honest as a Bills fan.  This is trying to file up a rival base.  You’re better that that my friend.

So enjoy the game and we’ll probably talk again after either way.  No matter the outcome, if you’re respectful, I promise I will as well.  You’re a proud Chiefs fan.  That’s respectfutl.  Please don’t go the other way.  Hey, you beat us four times in the playoffs.  You’re poking a bear.  C’mon.  Your better than that one.

I'm completely indifferent to it.

It's certainly not an accomplishment that you can use as a flex, because if you do, you know damn well what comments are coming next.

Winning 4 consecutive conference championships is a massive accomplishment on its own irrespective of what happened next.  You know the “yeah but” comment is coming afterwards, but so what?  You could win 4 straight Super Bowls, and people will still try to dismiss it as cheating, ref-aided, whatever.  I still remember those Bills teams as being the evil empire from back in the day.  It just feels like the script has flipped.

If people use demeaning nicknames for McD, I just dismiss those people. I mean, are we supposed to take that seriously? I was hoping we could act like grown ups. But it happens quite a bit.

As a fellow Stockholm syndrome Bills fan, I once took pride in 4 straight appearances.

Then I saw real dynasties like NE and KC make it to 3 in a row, while actually getting wins sprinkled in, and felt silly.

I became a Bills fan in 67. Highlights were rare until those 4 SB teams. They were great lineups.  Great results through many games. SB25 was the Bills to win. The other 3 Bills were not the better team. My dad died just after SB28 and I'd thought if there's a God we win. Nope.  Now if Bills make a SB, IDK so much at stake not to be a 5 time loser.  It's easier to tolerate the recent early exits. I know I couldn't watch it alone, I'd need the group support of a party or bar
