My point is as a GM for a team favored to go to the SB, with arguably the best QB/RB tandem in football, you must make an acquisition to address positions of need. The D-tackle position has been decimated by injuries and our best players(Oliver, Jones and Hoecht) are out indefinitely. Hairston played half the snaps yesterday and was OK. Having Ingram, Tre and Lewis as depth is NG. Hairston is inexperienced and has played one game. At receiver, the roster was constructed without a #1 or #2. Our 2nd year receiver( Coleman )is basically invisible and Palmer (injured) is another slot. Shouldn’t Josh have a vertical guy to take advantage of his arm talent. The thread is “deadline trade deals” not how Beane should not be blamed for injuries that decimated the D-line. It’s not about Brady’s balanced attack, it’s about getting better with a deadline acquisition. So you’re criticizing not making moves while the trade deadline is still open 1 Quote

My guess is T'Vondre Sweat with how much he was obsessing over DTs with the Micah Parsons trade Quote

I was hoping the Bills would draft him the year he came out. 3 Quote

Would have been solid Hoecht replacement and on a one year deal. Quote

Standing pat is not an option. I can criticize Beane for not bringing a vertical guy into the season. If he does at the deadline I’ll applaud his efforts, but not some dumpster dive to preserve draft capital. We’re the favored team to win the SB in Vegas. Let’s give ourselves a fighting chance. 1 1 Quote
sven233 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) There aren't a ton more things we can do to create space, but there are some. Extending McGovern, Bosa, Epenesa or Edwards could create more room so there are some things, but how crazy do you really want to get? McGovern is a good C and I would be more than happy to extend him. Bosa is an interesting one because of his age and injury history. And with the way his contract is structured, he has a much bigger cap hit in the years to come in the void years of the contract. AJ has been better this year, but how much is he worth in a long term contract? And Edwards is a solid G, but you can't pay everyone on the line. There are things you could do with DaQuan Jones, Milano, and Knox as well, but I am not sure you want to tie yourself to these guys any longer than you have to but there are options with those guys too if you are really feeling frisky. So, while there are a few things we can do to create more space if we want it, the question is what are the soundest and most team friendly moves to make? Regardless, I see a lot of posts saying we can't go big game hunting because of cap space. Well......that's sort of true and sort of not. If there was a HUGE move out there that Beane is dying to make, he can.....but it might involve doing things with contracts for certain guys that we man not exactly want to do those things with. But the option is there if he wants it. Edited 6 hours ago by sven233 2 Quote

Right now, Bosa will be a priority, and those guys will be cap casualties. Maybe McGovern but I doubt it. The young guys will have to step up at C and LG. If Epenesa want to sign for reasonable money I can see that. IMO, which isn't worth much. If the worst happens and Beane needs more money he can get a couple 100k from a few players. Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 2 hours ago, BigPappaPump said: Question if we gave up a 1st for Hendrickson on a one year rental, would we get a comp pick back if he signs somewhere else? It isn’t an exact formula. It matters how much he signs for elsewhere, as well as how many dollars are spent by the Bills in FA next year. Even if we had that framework, the actual way it’s calculated has been historically suspect. 1 hour ago, ***** said: Everyone is assuming trade, I’m guessing we needed space just for some warm bodies on the DL. Nah, you’re not needing to make moves of this caliber to sign street level free agents, imo. Quote
