I agree 100.  I said that after the Pats game. Diggs was all pumped up on the sideline getting everyone fired up.  Haven’t seen that from anyone on the Bills.

Josh comes off the field and takes a seat on the bench by himself or next to Trubisky.  He seems sullen and seems to have isolated himself from his teammates.  He used to be the emotional leader of the team.  I have not seen that in some time.

The team really seems emotionless.  I think they have tuned McDermott out.  This is year 9.  I don’t think the players get anything from McDermott at this point.  They know his schemes are bland and not creative.  And probably don’t expect to be any better than they have been because they know they get no advantage from our coaching staff.  And I think he plays favorites with marginal veterans over more talented young players.  And the players have to see that.

I believe a major housecleaning is in order if rhe same disinterested play continues through the season.

I think they the league is passing the Bills by.  And if they don’t adapt they are going to take a big step back.

I dont think Josh is disinterested so much as a camera man and the game day production choices sure can change perception.

What do you think the perception of the team is around the NFL?

That they are a one man group that has poor coaching and a marginal roster?

I watched a bunch of NFL yesterday.  And we have our work cut out for us if we want to be serious Super Bowl contenders.

The Colts look real good on offense.  As do the Chiefs.  And the Patriots are not going away.  And are not afraid of us in the slightest.

We need to find some fire on defense too.  The 49ers laid the wood to the Falcons from the 2nd qtr on.  And made Penix London and Robinson look very ordinary.  And physically bullied them w their run game.  The Bills should have done that with our running game all night long with some play action passing mixed in.  It would have certainly taken the jet off of Josh.

Hopefully the coaching staff woke up after being embarrassed the past couple weeks.  And not having played reasonably well since the Jets game.

It’s Josh but so far we have the head hanging version of Josh this year. He doesn’t get all fired up for every game but still generally does for the biggest moments. He’s the only answer. The OL would be my 2nd choice.

The Bills could use a little fire and swagger. That’s why Curt Cignetti was my coaching target (prior to getting $11.5M a year). CGJ would have been a nice pickup for this reason too (in addition to our safeties being terrible).

This offense reminds me of the real estate crash of 2007/2008.  Before the crash anyone could get a loan - after the crash even the most qualified were struggling to get qualified, it was a total gross overcorrection before it later found balance again.

I feel like that is the Brady offense right now - a complete over correction from sugar rush and wreckless Josh to now being too careful.  It absolutely is better for Josh to force less passes, take what is there, master the short game, etc.  Its what made Brady and now Mahomes so lethal, they not only hit the big plays bit they will often kill you by deaths of a thousand cuts.

But our entire offense is now completely built on manufacturing that and forcing that.  We went from too wreckless to now too careful.  And again, we saw a lot of great success at first with it - MVP, fewest turnovers in the league, most points in the entire league last year, NFL record of consecutive games not losing the turnover battle, etc.  But, like with anything, the league has caught on and caught up.  The blue print is out there to slow it down, disrupt it, identify its limitations, etc.  Sure, we still get some scoring drives, but its taken away consistency from this offense through predictability.

And quite honestly, Josh feeds on the energy he gets from hitting a big play, trucking some guy, leaping over someone, slamming his way into the endzone, etc.  Brady has gotten too cute on down and short, too focused on getting 8-10 people to catch a pass, etc.  If he doesn't figure out how to pivot and start scheming guys open more, using our personnel better (they are totally using Keon wrong for example), and getting after it more on offense, then this offense is not going to get out of this inconsistent rut.  Cook not being in on critical drives or any 3rd downs is just insane.  Struggling on down and short with Josh Allen, James Cook, and 3 TE's is insane.

Ive been a fan of Brady early, but I have also been a big critic this whole season as I don't think Brady has done a good job this year and don't think there is even 1 game I can say Brady had it going that game.

That would be a great result.

i agree about the defense in the second half last Monday night.  They played better.

But the offense looked completely out of sync after the Davis TD made it 21-14.  And brought absolutely nothing the rest of the game.

I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.  But I would really like to see Josh take charge of the offense in a much more leadership type role.  He needs to be the Alpha leader on the field.  And on the sidelines.  That was not there against the Falcons in the slightest.

He seems very melancholy and subdued.  For god’s sake look at Mack Jones w the 49ers or Jackson Dart with the Giants, or Baker with the Bucs.  They are all fired up  and excited.  Somebody needs to shake him out of his malaise.

We need an igniter on the team. It sure isn’t coming from McDermott.

Romantic issues again?

Wanderlust for California?

Or both perhaps.

Just keep the game in front of you. Don't make any mistakes. Nothin cheap now! Let them get their catches. They'll make a mistake eventually, and we'll capitalize on it!

On offense, play it safe, don't turn the ball over and make it easy. Everybody eats! Slow and steady!

If that mantra and system doesn't fire you up, what will?

I am! Just ask anyone who’s watched a Bills game with me for the last sixty years. I get extremely emotional. (And more often than not….it isn’t pretty….but it’s definitely emotional.)

Bernard is the D's emotional leader.

The D's problem is lack of talent

Well if Bernard is the emotional leader I am not sure he shows the level of emotion he needs too... I would also say this year he is not leading by example...  however, you are correct... the defense is woefully lacking in talent... when you combine that with poor leadership and a Defensive Co that is incapable... well you get the Defensive version of the Keystone Cops meets Wyle E Coyote going over a cliff...

It seems that those here identifying Josh as the emotional leader do so without offering specific evidence.  I would like to ask for that evidence, please.

This offseason, Josh has stated that his marriage has given him new perspective, and now he has (paraphrasing here) dropped his expectations for the season and is taking a "que sera" approach - whatever will be will be.  That doesn't strike me as burning desire.

Open to be proven wrong.

I think Josh wants the Lombardy more than anyone else on the team. Marriage doesn't change that. Maybe a kid and age would. I don't have any questions about Josh's desire or work effort.
