Game week thread - Bills at Panthers

playoff appearance in a generation, he can also be the one to murder this season ending any hope of championship aspirations.

I am more worried about their RB's than Dalton. I think the Bills get the win, but it will be close.

If we lose to Pats*, Falcons, and Kitty-Cats in a row, we don't deserve a post-season anything.  I live 75 miles from Charlotte and refuse to pay hundreds of dollars to watch our defense get shredded again.  Blame it on injuries, coaching or whatever, but they are not very good.

The OL isn't as good in pass protection as last year. The WR's are still "meh". Only two elite players on offense at the skill positions. The defense is garbage. Other than that, the Bills are fine. Lombardi trophy here we come.

Defenses are teeing off in pass obvious situations, thanks to Brady’s crappy scheme and play calling.

or....we could have actually put James Cook on the field for ANY of the 9  3rd downs & 4th down he was on the sideline for

If you don't want him pass blocking, then put him out wide or run a 2 back set

 

he's too talented and playing at an elite level.   Absolutely insane we ignored him after making it 21-14.  He was the engine of that drive

A cursory look at the numbers shows two teams more or less evenly matched:

Offense                #3              #16

 

Defense              #19               #7

 

TO Diff                 -1                 -2

 

However, the Bills are in a funk.  While I hope McD and Babich fix some of our defensive problems, I'm pinning my hopes on Brady and Josh.  If we play offense like we did the past two games, we lose.  But if we play offense like the first 4 games, we win.

Right. I don’t know how anyone can think that Rapp, Bishop, Tre, Benford, and Bernard could become great players in a few weeks. 25th or worse defenses don’t make runs to the SB.

How do fans sense urgency during a week of practice?  I think maybe - I'm just guessing here - that's just your lack of faith in our coaching staff talking.  I know McD has flaws but I don't think complacency is one of them.  I think the Bills know how badly they've been playing, know the situation they're in, and are fully committed to winning this game.  

That won't mean they will because there's a real roster deficit to deal with.  But, as someone who doesn't attend practices and has no insider knowledge, my guess is that urgency is not an issue.

I know the Chiefs had some dreadful defensive rankings during their earlier SB runs, but they usually stepped up and got stops in the playoffs. We can only hope ours follows a similar path.

After watching the SF MASH unit that is their defense basically shut down the same Falcons team that ran and threw all over us, I hate this scheme on defense even more. 

 

Without their star DE or LB SF shut down the same offense that had their way with us 7 days ago. Robison and London were non-factors. Penix was under pressure almost every drop back. 

 

Meanwhile, we get zero pressure and everyone is wide open. I am 100% convinced the issue is scheme and coaching, not players. There's just no way the guys we have on defense are this bad.

I expect a close game. Their defense has some teeth to it. We can not afford to get behind the sticks with undisciplined (or phantom) penalties or it will be another long day like Atlanta. And Dalton is a veteran QB who can take advantage of the soft spots of our zone defense.

Agree. I have to think Saleh would get better results out of this group, even with injuries etc.

Ditto this.  I haven’t made Saturday plans yet.  Going with my wife and 2 kids middle school/high school aged.
