At the very least the Giants would have been forced to put more men in the box to stop him and that would have helped Kelly open up the passing game. wa Every time I watch the 4 falls of Buffalo, I realize why Frank Reich is not a great coach. When he said its easy to say you should of thrown a left hook instead of a right(paraphrasing), when asked about not running more, I about blow a gasket. Frank, they came out with 2 down lineman, its called reading a defense, you run against 2 down lineman. Its football 101. 1 hour ago, RkFast said: Probably a wash. McD's strengths and weaknesses and Marv's have A LOT of parallels. Both are good delegators & leaders of men and strong builders of 'team culture.' Both have implemented very strong overall team "programs." Both are so-so in-game managers. Totally agree, there wasnt a superbowl where Marv wasnt out coached in and I think McD against Parcells/Belichick, Gibbs, and Johnson would of been the same, McD is not on that level. I certainly dont think a McD defense would of done any better against OJ Anderson and stopping the run thats for sure. Edited yesterday at 08:14 PM by billsfan714 1 Quote

ControllerOfPlanetX Posted yesterday at 09:13 PM Posted yesterday at 09:13 PM McD’s rotational defensive line, Bruce would never have made it to even 125. Marino would have broken the “bend don’t break” defense. 2 Quote

I would expect so. Most NFL games are decided by a couple of plays so assume yes. As think eventually things will go the Bills way. Call it blind loyalty, false hope etc. but watching the NFL I know this team isn't as bad some make us out to be. 1 Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) 90's team would have been very good with McDermott because they had Thurman and Bruce and he probably would have kept Kelly from turning it over so much. Still would have been physically overmatched in the other 3 SuperBowls. Levy with this team would probably be worse than McDermott. He was a leader but not the tactical person needed in today's game. There I made a positive post about McDermott! Here is a twist- give me Ted Marchibroda with this team! Allen or Cook would win 3 MVPs in a row and multiple SuperBowls! You try to get Marchibroda, but the timeline alters in the past as well, and you end up with Kay Stephenson...or even worse, Hank Bullough! 2 Quote
T.E. Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago The 90s players wouldn't have bought into any of the completely stale and clichéd Process stuff. Just from a public speaking and motivational standpoint, McDermott is a huge downgrade from Levy. Quote

This reminded me of a co-worker telling me prior to one of the SB losses to Dallas that the Jimmy Johnson led team would beat the Marv Levy led team. He openly mocked Marv's motivational capability. Whether it was a factor or not he ended up being right. Quote

Bc everyone else is looking down the barrel of roster issues as well—back in the 90’s the teams we faced in the Super Bowl were stacked in every sense just as much as we were if not more? Parity today makes it easier to get to the playoffs despite serious roster problems… Quote

Knox lost three championship games as coach of the Rams and one in Buffalo. Successful coach, even great on many sundays, but he couldn’t get past the championship game. Much like our current situation. Knox never had a great quarterback on any of his teams. They played complementary football, along with “ground chuck”. McDermott on the other hand, has football’s best QB and wants him to play like Trent Dilfer. WTF is wrong with this picture? McD and Beane are not on the same page. Beane tries to get too cute with his drafts. Quote
