Beane shouldn't be fired just yet even when we get eliminated from playoffs this season. He built a great o-line and been doing a fantastic job maintaining that. Yeah, he sucks on finding defensive talent and wide receivers. Every GM has their flaws though.

To be fair, it's worth observing that our o-line only started getting really good in 2022 when we brought Kromer back (and his previous stint also coincided with the last time we had strong o-line play before that).

Plus our best lineman, Dawkins, was a Whaley pick.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice that 8 years into the McBeane regime we have at least ONE position group of strength (could probably say two with the TE group this year). But when you say "he sucks at finding defensive talent and WR's", you do realize that's like... 60% of the 53 man roster, right? That's an awful lot of suckitude 😅

Rothlisburger in his 3rd year and a very good D and conservative run dominated O.
D won them that Super Bowl ( and some BS penalties)

D got Cower to a SB with Neil O’ Donnel at QB!!!! Neil Freaking O’ Donnell😜

That is all true.  My point was that many thought Cowher would never win a SB.  But his teams were always good and he finally broke through.  Management gave him the time.  The Bills will do the same with Beane and McDermott as long as the team keeps performing at a very high level.  So, everyone can piss and moan all they want about firing people, but it ain't gonna happen anytime soon unless one of you buys the team from Mr. Pegula.

The grass is rarely brown for anyone that has a QB like Josh Allen.  He's worth 11 or 12 wins alone.  Gotta have a pair to win it all.  Be bold and make a friggin move if they fail again, or it will be the biggest waste of a generational talent NFL in league history.

You make a very good point.

The thing is, other than paying Josh (and almost all NFL QBs are making the big bucks), where have the dynamic duo allocated the most resources? Obviously, DT and cornerback. Our problems now would seem to be teams running up the middle on us and lousy corner play, all this while lacking at the wide receiver position. This, while having an all time great quarterback. Now, the question is imo, should there, or should there not be any accountability? Should we continue on and trade UP for cornerbacks and DOWN for receivers?

Jalen Hurts won a Super Bowl and he is good. Perhaps even very good but fractionally as good as Josh. That said, look at his tools. He has three receivers that are better than our best one.

In summary, I like McDermott as a field general, NOT as a team builder. I think that he has way too much say in how the team is constructed, and both he and Beane should be held accountable for not providing Josh with the tools that would make us win more games, if not a super bowl. Posters on TSW have been screaming for years to give Josh more weapons while these two are scrambling around for first round cornerbacks. They figured this out and McBeane could not? Sorry, but this is unacceptable imo, and sorry for the rant.

Considering the front office/coaching dumpster fire he's created with the Sabres, I don't see him EVER moving on from Beane and/or McDermott unless they decide to leave.

If the Bills cleaned house there would be a ton of interest in the GM/HC job considering the Bills have one of the best QBs in the game. The Sabres job for GM/HC isn't an attractive one at this point. The Bills GM/HC job is.

The answer would seem obvious... but then you ask yourself the question... Do you trust Pegula to go get the right people... and then I think of Rex, Whaley and the Sabres and get very concerned.

And i say unto you, oh my Bills Mafia brethren..........if our team couldn't win one SB in the 90's with (not even debatable) the best O and best D roster that this franchise has ever seen, do you honestly think that we are winning one anytime soon with the O and D roster we have now?!?

I'll wait.

Terry said that both men report to him and they have equal power. Neither one can fire the other as only Terry has the power to fire them.

I find that absurd. A GM should have more power than the headcoach within reason.

There's no doubt the Bills job is much more attractive.  I just don't think Pegula will pull the rug out from Beane/McDermott

For McDermott I would only keep him if he made these 2 changes:

1. Fire Babich and hire an outside DC to run a different scheme than Mcdermotts

2. Let Josh cook and invest in WRs- I think this is the offence McDermott wants- Clock control/running the ball, being efficient and minimizing mistakes. The ceiling just isn't high enough with the philosophy now and its holding back the best player in the game.

I agree. I don't see them in danger of losing their jobs. Even if the Bills missed the playoffs, I think he would give them the chance to fix it. Both will be here for a while IMHO,

As much as I love Sean and Beane, I strongly believe that if we miss reaching the SB again we HAVE to move on. Things seem stagnant and nothing has changed when compared to last year.

I think Beane has done a disservice to Allen by not providing better targets especially when he could have instead of drafting crappy players (Landon Jackson, Bishop, Greg Rousseau, Basham, and that one CB that was traded to Dallas). Something has got to change. What do you guys think?

Yep fire them all I want to be just like the Browns or Houston or Carolina, yep I'm all in ... LET'S GOOOOOOO !!!

Management gave him time because we got to a Super Bowl right away & then didn’t have a real QB for years. It’s a completely different situation. McDermott’s comparison should be Schottenheimer, not Cowher.

If the Bills win the Super Bowl this season, begin the 2026 season with four straight wins, and then lose the fifth game in a poor effort, would we still have a thread like this?

I think we would. Only that the narrative would be that we would have more than one Super Bowl win by now.

There was a famous head coach...I forget who, that said any head coach lifespan is 10 years max, regardless of how well they do.  They have an expiration date.

On this subject... And it's not a huge thing... But it is a thing...

While we continue to try to find answers at DT...

Two players we let walk for nothing...Both basically played 2024 for around the vet minimum...Both DT's... Poona Ford and Tim Settle have played every game but one (Ford missed a game this year) since they left and combined for 83 total tackles, 9 sacks and 20 run stuffs as rotational DT's... We let them walk... I get they may not have been great here... Maybe a scheme thing... But they seem to be OK NFL DT's...

Poona had a great year- we sure could have used him.  Why did we drop him?  Bad move Beane.

The ONLY way this happens is if Josh goes directly to Pegula and says "We'll never win a championship win the current regime." In the meantime, we all get to enjoy Marvin Lewis 2.0.

Or you get 30k fans at the stadium to chant "Fire McDermott!"
