ToGoGo Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Interesting accusation from Saleh yesterday, naming a lot of names. Liam Coen was asked about this at a press conference today and he didn't deny it, just said he didn't want to talk about it. How does this affect your opinion of NFL games knowing this might be a thing? Do the Bills do it? How much of what we blame on our team could just be the result of the other coaching staff knowing our plays ahead of time, rather than execution or effort or Xs and Os coaching prowess? Do the Chiefs do this in our playoff games? https://www.si.com/nfl/why-robert-saleh-accused-jaguars-sign-stealing Quote “You know, um, Jacksonville, this is a very young, but it’s a very talented group,” he said. “Liam [Coen] and his staff, a couple of guys coming from Minnesota, they’ve got a—legally—a really advanced signal stealing type system where they always find a way to put themselves in an advantageous situation. They do a great job with it. They formation you to try to find any nugget they can. So we’ve got to be great with our signals and we’ve got to be great with our communication to combat some of the tells that we might give on the field. Quote “They’re almost elite in that regard. That whole entire tree. From Sean [McVay], to Kevin O’Connell, to all those guys, they all do it. So, there’s challenges. They’re gonna catch us in some situations where they have the advantage and we just gotta play good, sound, fundamental football and do our best to execute.” Quote “That’s the ultimate trick. Whether it’s people from the sideline or whether it’s our individual hand signals—whatever nugget they can find, they catch it. And they always happen to find themselves in good situations based on the coverages shown. And there’s nothing illegal about it. I’m not suggesting that. It’s just, you can tell they have a [inaudible] system that is getting them into a very advantageous position multiple times during the course of a game. ...... “Were there [times] we were like, Damn, how did they know to get to that play? Yeah. We dealt with it [against] Minnesota last year [when Saleh was the head coach of the Jets]. They got us into a couple of situations. You can see it on tape when we’re studying. It’s like, damn, how’d they know to be in that call at that time? We’ve experienced it with the Rams a little bit. It’s not an uncommon thing, it’s just this group of people, they’re pretty damn good at it.” Quote
Sojourner Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago You have all week to prepare and a headset on game day for a reason Robert… Quote
JerseyBills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago No problem from me as long as it isn't like the Patriots did it , I say get every advantage you could, If i was a coach I'd have a team of guys trying to get the edge on signs 1 Quote
MJS Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago There are specific rules of what you can and can't do in this regard. As long as they aren't breaking the rules, it is smart football. Quote

MadPerry Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Absolutely not acceptable. If they are monitoring the other teams sideline for any signal that is cheating as far as I am concerned. Prepare your team with what is put on film and react accordingly during the game. Disgusting that anyone thinks this is ok. 2 Quote
pi2000 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Aren't plays called down to the field using headsets in the players helmets? What signs are there to steal? Quote

MadPerry Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago NFL being a business, I have to admit that is true. Working within the legal rules of the game to gain an advantage. But I stand by what I said. I think its filthy. I don't want to know the Bills are doing it. 1 Quote

strive_for_five_guy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I remember back in Little League, if you were sharp enough to figure out the other team’s signs, then why not? If a team notices some tells in preparation of the game film of their opponent, and it’s legal within the rules, there’s not really a problem. If a team is worried about sign stealing, throw in some dummy signals to throw the other team off. 1 Quote

Some do it better and in more sophisticated ways. Teams like the Patriots and Michigan got caught and went thru detailed investigations of everything they did. It looked really bad. I'm also pretty sure most of these other teams would also look REALLY bad if looked at with a magnifying glass. It's part of the game. It will never go away. Some will do it more effectively and with more sophistication. Just as everything else in life is pursued that way. We should be doing the same things. Edited 54 minutes ago by Mikie2times Quote

UConn James Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago Big difference bw a team seeing signs / formations used on the field that they recognize from previous game film........ and what the Pats*/Belicheat did, which was intercept radio feeds, bug visitor locker room, record opponents sidelines and/or practices. It's like Rob Johnson, when he was injured, yelling out what the plays were in that Bills-Jags game where Flutie 'saved the franchise.' 1 Quote
co_springs_billsfan Posted 36 minutes ago Posted 36 minutes ago Meanwhile the Bills' challenge expert sent a runner to tell McDermott to challenge Tyreek's out of bounds catch on the first drive last game. Too many stairs though. Word is Pegula is installing a state of the art "Tin cans on a string " system in the new stadium so we won't have this problem next season Quote
