Just here to say it’s a long season…one loss to the saints or patriots will put that in perspective.   Yes we all want the one seed but even that does not accomplish what we all really want, it just makes it easier.  The ravens and chiefs could both lose 7 games and you may still have to beat them both in the playoffs even with the one seed.

I think Spagnola has Jackson's number and can plan a better ballgame than the entire Ravens staff. The wildcard is what Reid can do on offense with the lack of talent he has to work with - but I think the Chiefs will win decisively.

These two teams will absolutely beat the living dog **** out of each other.........i could care less who wins or loses in this one.

It's a win-win for me.

Speaking of beating the crap out of one another the Ravens still have to play their "Friends" in the AFCN. That entire division hates one another. So, they still have to go through the divisional wars as well

I'd rather Baltimore win.  Why?

1.  We will still be 3 games ahead of them

2. I'd rather they finish in the top 3 standings wise by year end and win that division - so if we finish with the 1 seed, we can avoid them in divisional round

3. Another Chiefs loss puts them in a very early hole to climb out of with their remaining schedule, to even reach the playoffs as a wildcard.

It’s 2 1/2

Ravens. Then we beat the Chiefs for their 3rd or more loss. And the Bills are then at least 3 games up on both (with the win at KC).

It’s 2  1/2

I'm probably whistling past the graveyard here but there are reasons to feel good about beating Baltimore in Buffalo in late January. Derrick Henry looks like he is slowing down a bit, he'll have just turned 32 and he'll have another 180 carries worth of miles on his legs. Our gap discipline will be better in our next matchup by default. The pressure of always choking in the playoffs will be on them and they'll be in our house. I'm not quite as scared of that prospect as I was two weeks ago.

The real key is to avoid having to play both KC and Baltmore en route to the Super Bowl. You're going to have to beat one of them to get there, no avoiding it.

Yeah, I like our chances against Baltimore in Buffalo. Really think the likelihood of a win goes down against them if we have to go on the road, though.

Ravens.  We currently hold the tiebreaker, and they're going to make the playoffs.  KC is in a weird position where if they continue to implode they may not.  That, and KC can still nab the tiebreaker with us if they beat us.  If we meet the Chiefs in the playoffs, I do *not* want it in Arrowhead yet again.

For KC to get the tiebreaker over the Bills they would have to win their division. At this point the Bills are a heavy favorite to win the AFCE. KC is going to have a hard time winning their division this year. If they make the playoffs as a WC and the Bills win the division then any potential playoff game is in OP and won't matter who wins the regular season game between them.

Agreed.  I can see both arguments.  But I stand by KC potentially missing the playoffs outright.

The second and last time the patriots beat the colts in the playoffs was like 2004.  I think you are misremembering

2014, the Andrew Luck Colts. But those Colts were nowhere near as good as the Manning Colts

If this plays out the way it’s going, I could see Buffalo winning the 1 seed and still having to play both teams in the 2nd and 3rd round.

the chiefs will be on the road as a wild card and play someone easy like the colts and meet us in the 2nd round as the lowest seed.

the ravens will steamroll everyone they play and see us in the championship game

Fascinating topic.  Thanks OP.  Im weighing the Ravens being better and having easier path to winning division versus us not having played KC yet.  I think not having the tiebreaker in hand means I want KC to lose.  If we lose to KC then were likely the ones going the tougher path.  We now have essentially 3 game lead on the ravens.  Our road aint easy but that should be sufficient.  If we lose to KC we only have a 1 game lead on them.

I don’t want either but the right answer is the Ravens. They are still going to bounce back and go to the playoffs (probably still win their division). There is a world where a 1-3 Chiefs team misses the playoffs.
