Johnson was a bit better this week but thank heavens we got the Cook contract sorted.  The people arguing with our offensive line it didn't really matter who the running back was woulda had the shock of their lives if we were watching Davis and Johnson as our primary ball carriers right now. The thing I noticed last game is the defenses are really getting their hands in their to trip up the runners. Cook can beat those hand slaps to the feet. The others haven't yet. I'd fear gore jr would drop the ball.  I think the team needs to find a way to fix this tripping up issue. Quote

I know you're kidding, but it's probably what's actually happening. He waited months to supplant Singletary with Cook, even after it was clear the latter was significantly better. 1 1 Quote

Been mostly disappointed with Ty. Several drops, not running with the same burst.  For Ray, he strikes me as a guy that needs a lot of touches to get going, but they aren’t rotating him in anymore. Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) He was always RB3 last year and this year. Cook is RB1 and Ty is the 3rd down back, so there is nothing new or shocking about his role, he is a backup to Cook who is a feature back and Ty comes in on passing downs at times.  Edited September 20 by Alphadawg7 Quote
Allen2Moulds Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I know he's had limited touches thus far, but from what I've seen, he hasn't warranted any additional touches. 1 Quote

Thrivefourfive Posted September 20 Posted September 20 So what we’re saying is we don’t need Ray Davis anymore. He doesn’t do one thing better than Cook or Ty, and it’s a big enough drop off that there’s no need. As Ollie Gordon gets drafted in the 7th. Love to have some of that power from a back. Quote

WideNine Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) Ray just needs to get back to being Ray and playing to his strengths. He is not Cook, with that vision and that shifty shake and bake to be a great cut back runner. Cook has become a more complete back when he also just takes the 2-3 yard profit and tries to push the pile forward when there is nothing there. Ray is a great gap runner who can accelerate and run through arm-tackles when he just hits his gaps, follows his blocks, plants that foot and goes. All our backs are better than average receivers too. The coaches and staff will work with him, and I am pretty confident he will find a way out of his sophomore slump. BlueRed Posted September 20 Posted September 20 The bills always seem keyed in on the storylines that exist thru the season and I bet now that his usage and effectiveness are being questioned that they’ll dial up a few ray davis special plays next week against the saints. Quote
QLBillsFan Posted September 20 Posted September 20 After the Cook Jets run.. it’s hard to not fine the ball to the Bills most explosive player. Davis has also a poor run average from either running out the clock in Jets game. Or short down and distance plays. But as of yet Davis hasn’t had any explosive plays. I think they will come. It’s a long season and Cook’s usage over the next few weeks might be bit lighter vs Saints Panthers type teams. Quote

The countless 30+ yard runs last year. I don't think he's the 2nd best player on offense, I think he's the 2nd best player on our team. I get some peoples trepidation on the 15 million, but some of the offseason takes were essentially RB's mean nothing and Davis would do just fine. Just so off the mark. He's trending toward being in first team All Pro conversation. Last back we had to that was Thurman. All of this even more impressive considering he just got paid. 2 Quote
