BillsFan130 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Can you guys all owe an apology to @Mister Defense? Lol Babich should have been on the hot seat after the rams game last year 3 1 1 1 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I think our defense is about #20 in the league. Whether that is due to talent or scheme I'm not sure. 1 Quote
Saint Doug Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Babbich is only 20 years-old. Give him time to grow. 1 Quote
The 9 Isles Posted September 19 Posted September 19 The league figure out McDermott’s defense 4 years ago. 1 1 Quote

appoo Posted September 19 Posted September 19 They got a pair of 3 and outs in the 2nd half and a turnover. And the offense sputtered in a big way as well. team game of struggles tonight 1 Quote
Long Suffering Fan Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Our defense struggles with covering speed. They back off too much. Tua absolutely could not throw down field. We should have squeezed them. 1 1 Quote

Lol Babich should have been on the hot seat after the rams game last year I shall not.. but on second thought ok sure. We are not good enough. Limited pass rush and yikes TW just bad. When they stacked 17 and 10 we had Cole bishop attempting to go one on one with Waddle. All in all very concerning!!! Quote
BillsFan130 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 10/15 for Miami on 3rd downs tonight 29th ranked 3rd down defence last year. Anyone who thinks Bobby's seat shouldn't be hot is being naive 2 minutes ago, QLBillsFan said: I shall not.. but on second thought ok sure. We are not good enough. The players aren't great but the scheme also is bad. When it's been a year and 3 Games and the 3rd down defence still sucks, the responsibility falls on the DC/HC 2 1 1 1 Quote

HappyDays Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) I've been critical of Babich and McDermott but I don't have much to complain about the defensive play calling in this one. We mixed in some good looking blitzes and I didn't see anything egregiously dumb. The problem tonight was the players IMO. Benford played as bad as I've ever seen him. I continue to believe that White is just washed and needs to be replaced by Hairston ASAP. And Miami is not a matchup where you can overcome bad performances from the outside CBs. Waddle and Hill had it too easy all night. There were also several instances where we had Miami stopped but poor angles and tackling let them off the hook. Edited September 19 by HappyDays 1 Quote
pi2000 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 The defense is too predictable. Easy to game plan against, not very physical. 1 1 Quote
gobills404 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Playing man coverage against Waddle and Tyreek without jamming them was so frustrating to watch. Gonna get burned almost every time doing that. Quote
Big Blitz Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It’s just the 3rd and longs have got to stop. Total reflection of having a mediocre pass rush - only elevated bc of Bosa. And our blitzes rarely seem to get home. What needs to happen outside of a trade for a pass rusher and staying healthy obviously - and the probability on a 1-10 scale of that happening: The rookie DTs get good (5) Hoecht makes a huge impact (7) Max is a legit number 2 (6) Bishop and Rapp have got to improve (6) Is this a red shirt year for Landon Jackson??? 1 Quote

We are weak in the interior of the defensive line and linebacker. Love White but his best days are definitely behind him. Quote

Mister Defense Posted September 19 Author Posted September 19 (edited) 1 hour ago, Jalan81 said: White is cooked… I had predicted the Bills would win by 15 in a text just before the game. 35-20 When I soon realized Tre White, the former starting caliber cornerback, was today the starting corner, covering Waddle, maybe Hill a little, I sent him a text saying 'reverse that score', though I took it back right after. But said, have said on here since the signing, that Tre White can no longer play corner in the NFL, and is definitely no longer a starting corner. It is very complicated to explain why this is the case: Tre White is very slow now, (runs like my fat as* uncle I sent the text too, and i told him this). While most of the receivers he will play against are very fast. If I can see this, why can't the Bills' coaches? Have to take your chances with Stong or Ingram or bring in someone else now. Tre White cannot be our starting corner, and should only be used on certain running downs. Yup, some good plays, two great ones, a pass break up and run stop, but he cannot consistently be successful as an NFL corner. To me this means he cannot play corner anymore. Why? He will get burned again and again, and again and again, and those few good plays a game, or more, will mean nothing. Time to coach. Edited September 19 by Mister Defense 1 Quote
