Come on man. The public share was $850MM. Not an inconsequential sum but only 38% of the full $2.2B (and still climbing) price tag. I'd say Terry has the right to move one game since he's spending more of his money. But again, Toronto doesn't have a suitable NFL venue. Edited September 14 by PromoTheRobot Quote
BuffaloBill Posted September 14 Posted September 14 He’s simply looking to pander to Canadian corporate money. 1 Quote
HIT BY SPIKES Posted September 14 Posted September 14 2-0 ManCity. I am switching to Bills coverage. Quote

That's No Moon Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Can we find another pit to feed? Maybe some sort of local cataract requires a sacrifice? Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Please don't. The money from TV is more than enough to make a profit in Buffalo. The Toronto atmosphere was terrible. Even playing the 9th home game every other year in Toronto would be awful. I'd honestly rather it be in Europe than in Toronto. Quote

NOT sure if this type of discussion is allowed in this new world we live in but what do you have on the menu for today's game? I got nothing!!! I spatchcocked 3 whole organic chickens yesterday that I had marinating since Wednesday Afternoon in 3 different marinates and slowly grilled them at my lowest temp for 2 hours on the warming rack. Wife will NOT allow me near any cooking equipment today and I was relegated to the role of being her Sous Chef by cutting up all the ingredients she needs to make her Caribbean Style Chicken Fried Rice including some of the breast meat from yesterday's chickens. Therefore, I have been drinking since 4:00 AM in between gardening chores and watching English Premier football and my little Udinese team in Serie A climb to 3rd place in the table with only the big boys of Napoli and Juventus ahead my ancestry team from Fruilli. After two espressos with double shotsof St Lucian Rum I have switched to local Craft IPAs in my ManCity Coffee Mug while watching my ManCity team with Latin Hispanic announcers winning 1-0 over ManU. As Martha Stewart would say... NO NO You ain't giving up that easy MF'er unfortunately, I was on the road, and had to watch it on delay. we have Thursday night to “game plan” for!! 1 Quote

SirAndrew Posted September 15 Posted September 15 8 hours ago, HIT BY SPIKES said: BRILLIANT!!! I went to 3 of the games and it was pure crap. Attendees were wearing all sorts of NFL teams unis even though they were NOT playing. Terrible atmosphere. I regretted attending. If however, Toronto had its very own NFL team, they would support it like flies on poop. Would Toronto support an NFL team? They only show up for other non hockey sports when the team is a winner. Also, population isn’t everything. It’s almost like people forget that a HUGE part of Toronto’s population is first and second generation immigrants, many people who likely have yet to develop any appreciation for American football. thewookie1 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I don't think it has anything to do with us trying to get money like the old Bills in Toronto series. In this case the NFL wants more international games and the Bills are just angling themselves to avoid travelling overseas or Mexico. Quote

Wrong. I go to the local bars in Hamilton and my neighbour is Indian and they all love them some NFL football. They sure have embraced the NFL What is there not to love? The truth is that if Toronto had their very own NFL franchise the demand and the sheer wealth in Toronto (corporate and individual) would mean ticket prices would be more than 3 times the price of Bills tickets. Hating on Toronto is petty. I don't live there but I went to law school and had a career there and it is an elephant of a city compared to Buffalo currently being a flea on that elephant's ass. Quote

Not hating on Toronto, just saying they’d have a fickle fan base. There’s a huge difference between a city being “great” and being a great sports city. In reality, none of it matters because sports are really about corporate money anyway. As far as Buffalo is concerned, we’re all aware that Buffalo is smaller than Toronto. Quote

May Day 10 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Toronto is getting into NYC territory of bigness. The NFL should want a team there and it would bring in an insane amount of revenue. If Toronto doesnt get a team anytime soon-ish... I would expect the prospect of the Bills relocating rearing its ugly head in 2 decades. Quote

I would much rather have the Bills play in Toronto and have it count as a foreign or out of the country game than them traveling to god only knows where the hell Roger pulls another country out of his ars to go expand the game ...
