Also, thank you Baltimore for warming up this defense for Justin Fields, Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.

Gonna see more of this multiple run attack in week 2

Not smart enough for my own thread but a couple of notes now that I'm home from the game and I am a season ticket holder.

1. The 8pm crowd is different than the 1/4. It was shocking how slow the crowd was to get into it. This was maybe the least rowdy Hopener I can rember since pre EJ Manuel. My entire section was seated and quiet on the first two defensive drives.

2. Piggy backing on 1, it was INSANE to me that a third or more of the stadium left with 10 minutes on the clock, down two possessions, with Josh Allen at QB. I was embarrassed. WTF. Have we become that over privileged? Are we the Patriots? It gave me KC AFCCG vibes. I was there and 10's of 1000's of KC fans were leaving with Buffalo still alive.

3. I thought this game be won by whatever team ironed out their early season wrinkles first, I thought it would be by 2 scores, but it wouldn't really matter. I was wrong on all counts.

4. We won today because of Josh. But he was rusty for sure. A couple of plays he should have taken off and he threw some bad balls instead. A couple of head scratchers. That will all get worked out. Worth mentioning but not a concern.

5. Bernard wearing 8 is something I'm not used to and I'm not sure I ever will be. Pretty sure I hate it.

6. I expected a couple of blows assignments to crack this game open. I didn't expect Bernard to get out on Flowers 1v1 on multiple occasions. And I didn't expect Benford to get targeted for so many large gains.

7. I like James Cook. I am glad he was extended. But man, I was hoping he'd be a three down back after signing his extension. His lack of presence on the final drive was frustrating. $12M, game on the line, and still on the sidelines. Thats partially on him and McBrady.

As for #2, I can understand the logistical argument for an early departure, and it REALLY felt bleak at the point you mention....HOWEVER....I am no effing quitter. I'd rather feel the full brunt of a home loss. I thought the Ravens were MUCH better prepared to try to WIN a game tonight until...they weren't. And I was there to absolutely go insane with the people around me who stayed.

I was just coming to say congrats.   Hopefully we can do it again in January.  Hopefully we don't self-destruct yet again

once again, the bills forced a takeaway, got stops on defense in critical moments and made clutch plays on offense.

Self destruct would have been snapping a ball over jackson's head and the bills recover for a td or missing a field goal to put the game out of reach.

The bills got two critical third down stops and forced a takeaway.

Just like in January, the team that makes less mistakes and takes care of the ball usually wins.

Enjoy the season

Yes this thought came into my mind as well after the game ended. We’re basically playing a watered down version of the Ravens next week. Zone, zone read, take some shots downfield, solid defensive personnel . It’s a Ravens replica just worse

Wiggins nearly tore Coleman's jersey off on that 2pt conversion...with a no call by the refs. Perhaps a good thing, as the game ended perfectly.

Somebody pushed back on me saying it in another thread so maybe I was just biased haha but I really think Baltimore gets away with a ton of jersey grabbing/hooking and turning WRs every time we play them.  Our dbs def get hands on receivers but I don’t see as much pulling/twisting guys up

they are really good at pushing it just over the line though so there’s def some gamesmanship involved

The rematch in January is a good probability. No doubt both our teams will make the playoffs at least. The self destruct didnt happen though. Our team just kicked it up a gear and never count out Josh Allen. If you were referring to the fumble. That was forced. Thats not a self destruct. Defense makes plays too.

Great win for the Bills, Western New York, and All Bills fans! Just WOW! Instant Classic (even more so because it's the last opener in Rich stadium)! Love this team!

Josh was out of this world alien-level in the 4th quarter. But, something happened in this game that was encouraging...guys other than Josh stepping up in the right moments/clutch time. Oliver coming up with a big 3rd down sack when we desperately needed a stop, and then causing the Derrick Henry fumble---game changing plays. The big catches by Joshua Palmer and Jackson Hawes. Keon coming up with the tipped TD catch---I'm pretty sure that Josh was targeting Shakir, it was way over Knox's head, he shouldn't have reached for it, but heads up by Keon, being Johnny on the spot, with a great effort and catch. Benford with a couple of big third down tackles late in the game.

And the everyone eats philosophy continues, with 9 different players catching a pass from Josh tonight (would have been 10 players if Ty Johnson could have held on to one of his two targets---that would-be TD throw from Josh was perfect).

Yes, the defense looked rough at times, but a lot of that is Derrick Henry. He has been causing us problems since his Tennessee days. Just a special player who matches up well against our defensive style. The good thing is that Barkley may be the only other back in the league that could match up similarly, so... Plus, it stands to reason that this defense will improve as the year goes on: getting Tre and Hairston back, getting the suspended DTs back, getting Cole and the rookies more playing time, getting the new guys (Bosa, etc.) acclimated. Plus, they have been tweaking things a bit in the pass rush and using more man coverage, etc. Not great tonight, but give it time to gel. They did come up with the stops when they absolutely had to, in crunch time. So that's a big positive.

And I think this is a great game to acclimate all of the new guys into the fold/culture. It was fun to see how excited Palmer was to make that big catch on the last drive, or to see Bosa on the sidelines at the end in joyous disbelief, or Prater smiling as his teammates hoisted him up after the game winning field goal. And Jackson Hawes making that huge, bobbled catch. This game will go a long way in the team chemistry department.

Just an awesome night! Go Bills!

Feel to anyone else like NOT playing in the preseason hurt the Bills early on tonight?

Coaches AND players tbh.

Yes, I felt they were very rusty.  Particularly I thought Rapp and Bishop were neither in the right place nor on the same page.

A few other comments:

-That TD reception by Coleman on the deflected ball!  Sometimes if you've gotta choose between Lucky and Good, pick Lucky.

-Watching Allen sling it to Coleman all over the field, zip it into Kincaid between defenders, then hearing Cris Collinsworth adenoidal intonations about how Allen trusts Shakir in a way he doesn't trust anyone else on the field.  Trust This, Cris!

-Refs were in playoff form on a few of those no-calls.  Keon Coleman needs a tear-away jersey

Never mind, he who laughs last laughs best, and this called for an almighty case of disbelieving but delighted laughter

Wining the Super Bowl!

For our fans and our team, absolutely, for the league? It would take one hell of a game.

Very disappointed in Bills Mafia!!! Leaving stadium early in a two score game. Rookie DT ran on the field late almost cost us the game on last kick. MVPs are given the ball to win games. Ravens gave the ball at the end to their mvp and the player all defensive coordinators game plan against.

Hell are we supposed to do against him?

Seriously.

His defense gave up 40. His receivers didn’t get open for three quarters. And he puts up 3 scores and 250 in the fourth quarter against a legit team.

what is anyone in the division supposed to do?

Honestly Fins should just petition the league to give them a loss when they go up to Buffalo. It will save both the organization and Fin fans from having to watch an absolute beat down administered by the Bills."
