Matt Prater last year was 6/6 on FGs including a 57 yarder and 10/10 on XPs. As far as emergency kickers go you could do a lot worse than that.

not sure what the problem is they have Davidson on the practice squad 😝

They still may

Franklin was signed to our active roster. Meaning he doesn't go back to the PS after this week. He would have to be released.

He has obviously shown what they expected to see on ST in practice enough to expect him to be a core ST player

I believe we'd have to make another move to accomodate him, no?

My post was more about it potentially being a vote of confidence in Dorian Strong and Jamarcus Ingram.

Teams should be super interesting this year.

Trey doesnt pracice yesterday and may not today or rest of week and Benford was limited yesterday..Looks lik Ingram may start and should be limited or removed from ST out fo necessity so Franklin gets the elevation and the reps and the pay..Prater may be a gametime decision..

we are starting a 3rd stringer and a rookie (Strong) may have to play (some) for Benford..sub-opitmal

Against two of the best WR in the NFL last year at creating separation.  This is gonna be wonderful...

Folks lets get the terminology correct, elevations from the PS are for game day only. They are typically announced at the same time the game day inactives are announced.  They have to be announced 90 min before gametime. They return to the PS after the game. Max of 3 elevations per season until the playoffs when it is unlimited. QBs have no limit.

Otherwise players are signed and released from the active 53 roster. When they are released they would need to be signed to the PS again if they want to, but if waiver wire eligible they would need to pass waivers.

We did. They moved DeWayne Carter to IR.  That opened a roster spot.

I do think they are confident in Strong/Ingram if needed tho

I read they are going to cut Poyer, so they can sign Davis, then move him to unable to perform list, then resign Poyer

I heard that too

Just sign Peppers already. Would rather see what he can do in this defense than Sammy Franklin Jr.

We're 3 days away from Week 1.

We've brought back our entire Safety room from last season.

Bishop is entering his 2nd year and we have to see if he's the guy or not. It's a repeat of the Bernard situation to a T. Imagine if we never gave him a shot bc he was an unknown.

We Drafted Jordan Hancock, who we used as a Safety during the Off-season way more than I expected and he looked good. So we have a long term, developmental fall back if Bishop isn't the guy.

With Hancock in the fold, we're already carrying an extra Safety compared to last season. Technically, we're carrying two extra Safeties now for a total of SIX. Though Franklin is a Special Teamer and Safety in name only, there's no way we carry 7 Safeties.

Damar Hamlin's contract is fully guaranteed and they trust him. Cutting him would cost us 750k in Cap and we're only at about 1.5-2m under the cap total. He's not going anywhere. Neither are Rapp, Bishop, or Hancock.

And for that sort of veteran break glass role, the option they decided to go with was Jordan Poyer.

Jabrill Peppers isn't happening. The only way it's thought is if he's still floating out there in the middle of the season and we've had multiple injuries. Even then, i'd be surprised as our Safety room and even emergency plans are totally set.

So is this a Bills fan version of one of those "I can make that joke, you can't" situations?

@Billl just doing the same joke countless others on this board do when a Panther move happens.

I know Julius checks the box as a former Panther but don’t you think he’s a little old?

It’s a boring, trite, worn out “joke” regardless of who makes it…

I assume that I’m misinterpreting. I’ve never once said anything about the Carolina connection everyone else loves to talk about.  I think it’s ridiculous and usually roll my eyes when other bring it up.

They're all about as funny as the fella who says "Super Bowl" after every minor signing.

I don't disagree that's it's played out

But if you look at the original Sam Franklin signing post, there's a ton of that same comment.

But the Chiefs fan says it and it was like "get 'em!". Kind of felt like a "I can make that joke, but you're not allowed to" scenario.

Matt Prater. In Detriot. Circa 2017 or something or other. Week 15 or 16. Under a minute to go. Lions need a FG and a touch. They have timeouts. Stupid Lions don’t know what they’re doing, take up most the play count and rush out the FG team for a chippy 38 yarder. Bad everything. Prater misses it. I lose my fantasy playoffs. I hate that man.
