Retired Bills in Buffalo ???

Just curious. How many retired Bills players live in Buffalo area?

I mean I don't have a list but there are a fair few of them that do...  Kelly, Thomas, Nixon , Tasker come to mind...

It's funny how Kelly turned into Mr. Buffalo. I remember the 83 draft and he didn't want to come here and then went to the USFL's Houston Gamblers. But when that league folded, Kelly came here in 86 and the rest is history as they say.

Yeah, a young Jim Kelly was no fan of Buffalo.

 

IIRC... Kelly did, for a very brief period, leave Buffalo to retire in his hometown in Pennsylvania where he had business ventures with his brother. But that was short lived and he moved back to Buffalo. 

 

He's better off in WNY. He fits.

Wasn't asking for a list per say. Was just wondering.  Retired military. Tbh...haven't been back to western NY in 30 plus years. Attended SUNY Fredonia in 80s. Retired to Harper's Ferry,WV with a Maine Patriot of 35 years. Funny...took her to Buffalo and got her wings at Anchor bar. She said you can make wings, but can't win a superbowl.

Kelly built his retirement home in Virginia I believe where he lived for a few years before he moved back to WNY

We had a few in my neighborhood growing up. Wray Carlton of the great 60's Bills teams was one of them. He may still be there in Eagle Heights in OP for all I know.

I was at a wedding about a year ago and an old friend came up to me and said he plays cards with Paul Maguire pretty much weekly in Charleston, SC. He says he’s a great guy and funny as hell with all kinds of stories to tell. As a Citidel grad he’s very fond of Charleston, but he may very well have a place in WNY as well. I remember my dad taking me to Sestak and MaGuire’s when I was a kid. Great memories.

I think he and Hailee will reside in SOCAL. But I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps a condo or small house in WNY and visits during the summers. He genuinely seems to like it here.
