I would just like to thank all of you who have these extreme overreactions to the preseason games, it makes this place incredibly entertaining for the rest of us to watch the meltdowns during the preseason.  It really makes me giddy when I see the Bishop/Hamlin/back up QB/ def line doom and gloom posts right now, I legit enjoy coming here to read them! 😁

At no point during the offseason does anyone ever say they want to see wins or even great play during these games, they want everyone to come out healthy.  But then, lo and behold, these games start and it's thread after thread of "this team has no chance" or "they need to fire Beane/McDermott now" to go with "This years and last years draft classes are horrible" I for one really enjoy watching so many go off the deep end

So cheers to all of you who are a part of this, know that you are making my day!

Overreacting to preseason games is the ultimate rookie move and proves to me they know nothing about football. But it doesn’t stop people from doing it EVERY… SINGLE… YEAR…

I can't take how we played last night. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't focus at work today. My mind was on nothing but how bad we played. We aren't going anywhere this year. I think I'm gonna go heavy on Labatt blue tonight.

Just kidding. I'm fine. Everything is good. It's only preseason 😁

No. The Bills are trash. Let’s drink

Luckily McDermott sounded a lot more concerned at his post game press conference than some on TBD.

He should be. He's gotten everything he's wanted and more regarding the defensive line, and he and Beane continue to unearth one undersized stiff after another. He's gotten everything he's wanted regarding the secondary, and it's filled with mediocre and below-average vets and young guys who are always hurt.

If the defensive s**ts the bed again this year after they refused to allocate any resources to help Allen, it will be all on him, and he knows it.

Teams don't "game plan" -- in the sense of planning to win the game -- for preseason.  They "game plan" to try different combinations of players or to give players experience in certain situations or to give young or fringe players experience, but the final score is immaterial.

Aaaaand everything attempted by said players was a train wreck. They made the Bears depth look like they should be starters. It was like watching Yale play Penn St. It was a complete dumpster fire of a performance.

I’ve read very few, if any, fire anybody over these preseason games. I have read player xyz sucks. To me that is fair. Winning and losing gets a pass in preseason. But a fringe player not doing well carries a lot of weight.

And for what it is worth when McD was like 10-1 in preseason the word was always about the culture and preperation…,

It’s nice that you’re enjoying the undisciplined, disorganized mess that was your team’s performance. You didn’t mention the feedback from observers of the joint practice for the week leading up to the game.It was sloppy, mistake filled Bills play. The Ravens are being dominant with their depth players and we play them in 21/2 weeks. Did you see any positives from players who supposedly are playing for roster spots and playing time? Did you notice a deficiency in fundamentals (tackling, presnap penalties, pass protection, etc)? Was Sean’s reaction to the game and the massive tryouts conducted since give you the impression that our personnel is trending towards playing at a high level. Everyone handles disappointment differently. Some people go into denial mode.  I’m not saying that Josh and our starters can’t beat most of the teams on our schedule, but football is a game of attrition and our young players must give us quality depth. A team with legitimate SB aspirations can’t play like we did with little pride or purpose.

Did McDermott really say that?  So, everyone who played the game was lousy at practice too?   If true, they could not have had many play well in practice.

We had like 25 guys not playing

I think over the last few seasons, fans have seen playoff losses partly due to having some bad depth at certain positions ( see Chiefs game--Bills linebackers/secondary)

I think most everyone has confidence in the Bills starting lineup, and that the team will do well IF THEY STAY HEALTHY. That preseason game may be doom and gloom for some in that for key positions, they can see just how bad some backups are...and don't want a repeat playoff performance and elimination.

Again, I appreciate the laugh! There is very little that you said that is nothing more than fear baiting. The other night wasn’t great at all-for the guys who are going to be cut or be depth. Few, if any, starters played, so the Bills essentially started their JV team against Chicago’s varsity team. Didn’t get out of hand? Yup, but honestly I’m not really worried about Brandon Codrington giving up a big play for a touchdown.

if by some chance every starter in offense and defense got hurt then yes, there would be concern, but I think they will be fine. In terms of not having a ton of depth, you know what other teams don’t have a ton of depth? Every team in the league! There’s not enough money to get quality starters AND have quality depth. Also, I want the young guys to take their lumps now rather than when it counts.

So until week 1, I will certainly continue to enjoy the massively hilarious overreactions to the undisciplined, disorganized mess

Nice Post! Putting that (extremely predictable, shocked if they didn't do it) nonsense into perspective.

Super obvious to all who are on this board that their reaction was inevitable, as many of the super irrational negative posters are like rabid dogs, foaming at the mouth, waiting for, anticipating, almost hoping it seems, for any excuse to rip the Bills to shreds.  Sad folks.

Does not matter to them that the game was almost meaningless, just like so many pre season games in general, and as fans of the 90's teams remember.  Did they ever win one under Levy?

How did the d-line rookies look, or your rotational veteran d-lineman. How about your starting safety(Bishop) or your rotational O-lineman. Presnap penalties, no running game or quality pass protection. I know you’re indifferent to preseason, but God forbid Josh misses a few series or a game, you still laughing at the prospect of the backups holding down the fort? How did Dorian and Buffalo Joe look in the short and intermediate passing game? With Milano’s history and how hard he plays, it’s probable these guys will play a lot. Finally, I don’t care when you take the field, you can’t have receivers consistently in another time zone on obvious passing downs,

That shows a lack of concentration and grasp of the scheme.  I’m sure you’re confident when a recovering Hairston gets back and Tre White(4 teams in 5 years) plays opposite Benford, we’ll shut these vaunted passing attacks down. Keep laughing,,we spent most of our offseason money and draft capital on defense.

You still hear that about John Harbaugh down in Baltimore.  That he cares about preseason and it matters to him for culture reasons and season prep.  Now under the Lamar era his teams have accomplished less in the playoffs than Josh and McDermott.  But Harbaugh has a Lombardi trophy on his mantle so I cannot dispute his methods.

Who's number 19? I like his speed you can tell he just pops off the screen

Why that's KJ Hamler of course.  I think they should find a spot for him even though it adds another smallish WR.   He kinda reminds me of Isaiah McKenzie but maybe even better hands.  Maybe he can take over the Codrington role on ST.

no one cares about losing a preseason game.  Its about Player Evaluation. Can each of 11 players on field, who can win, win their 1 on 1 battles?  Its dissappointing that we spend the entire draft on defense, and not have more Bills making plays.

I do beleive that the real Bills game was the practice, and that Bills were fatiqued and flat after 4 days in Chicago.  Coach said those that perfomed well at practice, got the game off.  And those that performed poorly, they played.

Most people really know what they are looking at.  It is a team effort so yes individuals can win or lose but if you teammates don’t do what they are supposed to it can make it appear you are not doing the right thing.

He's hand down fastest guy on our team. I bet we could use that especially on our screen game

It's funny but the wife and I were watching Hard Knocks and she goes is that a misprint? Shouldn't that be Hamlin #3? I said no, it's a WR and he scored a TD last week and you watched the game. lol

So. I am with you on the over reaction to the outcome of the game... I would say this... I definitely want everyone healthy over anything... but I also like to watch pre season to see those guys that provide some pop.. that look like they are gonna help improve this team... So, Walker, Jackson, Carter, Hairston, Bishop, Hancock, Sedrick, Hoecht, Ogunjobi, those guys that we haven't had before or are in their second year... like who is the bright spot... I am seeing precious little of that... some are injured, that is disappointing, Hancock and Gore seem to have shown a bit, that is nice for sure, the rest 2 games in are either a non event and some who have been with us have shown some regression...  concerned... no, interested, yup... faith boosted not really... so, I am in between whistling by the grave yard... and looking for something more from these folks... especially the 2nd year players...  but for sure no rookie of the year candidates have hit the field that I have seen...  Blown season.. I am with you and laughing... this season again rides on Josh and if we can get just a bit of improvement out of our defense... doesnt even need to be epic, just moderate..

I found the last game pretty funny actually.  The last time I was upset about a preseason loss was 1969 and that no lie.

My father was telling the entire neighborhood about his stupid kid. " The boy is nuts, don't go near him"
