Moore playing in this game means his roster spot is not a lock...that coupled with the good game by Shavers is going to make the next couple of days very nerve-wracking for Moore.

Should be interesting how this all works out.

Moore kind of had to play in the game with us sitting Palmer and Coleman, Shakir still dinged up, and Samuel ill.

I've seen people point to the fact that Shavers was pulled after the 2nd Quarter as an indication he'll stick - while ignoring the fact that Moore left at the exact same time:

Moore is an experienced player that can run routes from the slot and outside, has been very healthy the last 3 years, has a low career drop rate (3.7%), and has put up respectable numbers despite a gauntlet of terrible QB play throughout his career. He’s honestly overqualified to be a backup on this team.

I refuse to judge Elijah Moore in a game where your 3rd QB and backup O-Line are playing the majority of the game. Also, I don't think Moore and Shavers are competing for the same roster spot. If Shavers makes the team, he's likely the 6th WR, or they cut Samuel... but I think carrying 6 WR is more likely even though they haven't typically done that.

I was one of the people who had high hopes for Moore, and maybe he still can be useful.  I don't want to judge him on meaningless PS games.  He has underwhelmed in these games, but he's had back up linemen, back up QB’s, etc.

i trust Mcbeane’s evaluation throughout all of camp, and mini camps.  They know who is the best 5 to 6.  We didn’t see everything, they did.  Sure we missed on Wyatt Teller, but that was a long time ago.  Anyway, there’s little point in wild speculations.  They would just be guesses.

The bottom line all of us will know by Tuesday who stays and who goes (sorry old Clash reference).

I think it really all depends on what kind of connection and chemistry he's had with Josh during camp.

Josh hasn't played in the preseason so Moore has only received throws from Mitch and White for the most part.

IMO, he gets cut. He'll be this years OJ Howard

I’d like for Moore to make the team.

He smoked DB’s a few times in preseason and Mitch/White just couldn’t get it to him.

Didn’t love the drops and some other stuff, but he has a high ceiling as a WR4/5 and gives us an actual slot backup to Shakir, which we didn’t have last year.

Yeah , he’s not being cut. I’d be very surprised if he is. People lose their mind over the 1 drop he had but ignore the 7 other routes he ran that he was wide open on.

Moore is a solid lock at this point.  He is the primary backup to Shakir and has enough versatility to be safe on this roster despite what fans think.  I think there is some question what they do with Samuel but I think he is also safe.  Shavers makes 6 at this point.

It's an interesting group. The way I see it, the WRs that make it onto the 53 will all have to occupy different roles. For the bottom of the roster guys, that means avoiding redundancy, and having a significant role on special teams. If Samuel makes the roster, it will be for purely financial reasons, IMO. If he doesn't, I think Moore is a likely replacement for Samuel's role. His hands are reliable, and I did actually see him make a couple decent downfield blocks in the Bucs game-- not spectacular, but not bad for a guy his size. KJ would be the other player for that role, but while he is a fan/locker-room favorite, I think Moore is just more reliable.

Wilkerson, and Shavers both had really good games this last week. Shaver's spectacular catch notwithstanding, Wilkerson looked to be the more consistent player to my eyes. And I think Shenault is getting serious consideration for the K/PR role. That might inspire McD/Beane to carry six WRs this season. It might also make the path for Shavers or Wilkerson to make the roster significantly steeper.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they tried to but got outbid by the Patriots. I don't think Hollins is worth 4-5 million a year.

If Hollins is not worth 4-5 million then Joshua Palmer surely isn’t either, but Beane sees differently.
