K-9 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 He should, regardless. Needs the reps with his new receivers at game speed. 2 2 Quote
Bills Fan in MD Posted August 17 Posted August 17 He should play the full game, including any potential OT. And just to show his toughness, he should play without pads. Players are too coddled these days. . . 1 Quote
Cash Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Ironman. Allen plays every snap. Not sure why it wasn’t an option in the poll, but you can take it to the bank. Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Nope and he doesn't need it, nor should they risk it. Quote

Practice makes perfect. 1 Quote

That said- I’d be happy if he doesn’t play at all I don't see them playing any of the starters in PS3. If he plays then it will be this week. 44 minutes ago, Prospector said: Did anyone ask Josh? That is not allowed in McDermott's play book 🙂 1 Quote

Prior to the league cutting back on preseason games, it always seemed to me that the game 2 weeks prior to the season was the game most teams played their starters the most snaps. Getting live reps against another nfl team + finalizing the final roster vs injury. Risk vs reward Quote

I wouldn't mind seeing him for a series, but I get it if the coaching staff wants to hold him out. K Man, you're close. Whats been reported from multiple local sources is Coach McDermott prior to the Chicago joint practice states it will be determined at game time who starts and how long he plays. Since the O Line isn’t the problem, one would speculate Josh may have not played of he had a good practice with the Bears. Since many of us already read it was a sloppy practice Friday, Josh may want to play at least one drive, but I doubt more than one series as he's too valuable to risk an injury. Some would argue he’s the most durable QB in the league, but why risk it. 1 Quote

Third preseason game (2 weeks before opener) was the “dress rehearsal” and fourth game was for guys who were on the roster bubble - but no one played that game who the coaches needed in week 1. The NFL (I think) figured that since week 4 had become useless, let’s get rid of it and just keep the 3 that have value. The coaches immediately decided that the last preseason game was going to be the useless one, whether it was 1 week or 2 weeks from season start. Edited August 17 by Cash 1 Quote

The decision by the league to eliminate the 4th preseason game was a direct result of adding a 17th game to the regular season and was part of the 2020 CBA. 1 Quote

We might have seen more starting qb play this year, but i think Indy shut a lot of that down. Quote

Dillenger4 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I'd like to see Josh and 1's for two drives. Get timing down. Let's see Cook with Josh, Kincaid, Palmer and Keon. Two series and done. 1 Quote
boater Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Trubisky will start. McDermott will do that: 1) because Trubisky is going to be the backup, 2) a demonstration of gratitude/respect for Trubisky--letting him start in front of his former team/home crowd 1 Quote
zow2 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 If Josh plays in the game McDermott should be fired. I'm sorry. There is no reason to play any important starters in preseason anymore. They have enough reps in practice and scrimmages against other teams. 1 1 Quote
