Ty is such an amazing receiver though. His Broncos playoff TD catch last year where he had to lift both his feet off the ground is one of the best catches ever. Let alone for a RB! Cook was supposed to be an unfair cheatcode in the passing game but so far that hasn't been true. Great RB though, for sure. But Ty will remain the main 3rd down back.

Ty reminds me of a faster but less power driven Kevin Faulk back in the earlier Brady Pats dynasty days. Faulk was an elite pass blocking back who was a very good pass catcher. Faulk was the ultimate "third down back" who seemed to always comes up with 1-3 big first downs in key moments and each year would have 1-2 big games while mostly just putting in a few catches here or there.

Ty's got more speed but less power than Faulk but he took over that Lions game and always had big moments or just a few helpful keep things on schedule first down catches along with some productive running here or there. Really like having this RB trio in play for another season or two.

Respectfully disagree

The Carolina D is gonna be their downfall this year. They actually GOT their your QB some weapons and have been feeding T Mac the ball all training camp. Panthers O should be fun to watch this year. Canales seems to have his offensive bleep together

Not only all that, but Young quietly put together a string of very nice games in the back end of the year once he replaced Dalton.

He took some steps forward and CJ Stroud took steps back last year. Perhaps Young isn't at Strouds level quite yet, but he's narrowed the gap significantly IMO.

Ummm - he get's taken off the field on 3rd downs because he isn't as good of a blocker compared to Ty Johnson. You need a good blocker on 3rd down. Ty slips out into the open on broken plays and excels at finding space - but the main goal is blocking - or pounding it up the middle which TY is better at.

Ty caught a pass on third down 13% of all Bills third downs last season. That's not a lot at all. Why you say?!? Because he's in there to BLOCK.

"Below average run blocker" is another feather in the "reasons not to pay a running back big money" cap.

I absolutely think the Bills could be using Cook more creatively in multiple respects.

Their ongoing inability to execute an effective screen game is one of the most maddening and befuddling mysteries I've ever witnessed.

Can't execute one... can't stop one.

I'm actually surprised he didn't get $12.5 just to be ahead of Kamara/Jacobs. But I guess the Gtd money is what's important.

Nice, fair deal all around.

Hahaha. I don't think he is a big talker at the best of times.... but yep.... he looks stoned.

Cook always looks that way. That doesn't mean he is or ever has been stoned, but yes, it does look that way.

I'm neutral on cannabis (have and still occasionally imbibe). It wouldn't work for me to go through life in that state constantly, but I know many true stoners that have absolutely excelled throughout their academic and professional careers (finance, law, engineering, etc.). At the end of the day, perform like 2024 James Cook and I really don't give a crap how high you are.

Glad he is in.

would have preferred the 3 yrs 36, 24 guar.

Just hope they have room for McGovern and Torrence next year.

It’s actually better for 4 years with 30M for cap purposes.  I don’t love the deal, I don’t think he’s THAT good, but on a team with next to zero high end talent in the O, he’s valuable.  I agree, shorter would be more ideal from a sense of being able to move on, but I’m going to guess that a lot of the money is in signing bonus so he gets paid now and the cap hit gets spread out over 4 years.

Read @DrDawkinstein comment - Cook is, in absolutely 10000000% whatsoever, going to be the reason they can't sign McGovern in the future.  This whole "Cook's contract is going to cost the Bills players in the future" narrative needs to end, and needs to end quickly

The next priority on this team is McGovern. I don’t understand why people don’t believe it can be done. Knox has a 17 mill cap hit. They aren’t going to stay at that number. Knox is getting released or taking a big pay cut. Like in the 6-7 million range or we save 9 on cutting him. Samuel is not going to be here next year and that’s another 6.5. That’s 13 million without any restructures or other cuts etc. There is money for McGovern if they want to get it done. It’s Edwards who I think is gone but one of the 2 will be back next year

Beane's best draft since 2018 (for obvious reasons). Sadly looks like he followed it in 2023 with a bit of a dud. Big year for all those guys.

2023 kind of lived up to its reputation as a poor draft class, yeah? You wish we would have traded up for Addison or drafted LaPorta over Kincaid, other than that there isn't anything that sticks out with our 1st pick. Looking through the 2nd and 3rd round not a lot of game changers in there. All things considered Torrence was a pretty solid pick as a good starting RG considering the other players drafted in his range. Day 3 was almost a complete bust for the entire NFL, at least based on early returns. Still too early to fully evaluate the class but looks like most teams came away with maybe 1 franchise player, 2 at the very most.

The most baffling thing to me was the insistence to run the 1 yard psuedo lateral/screen to Samuel ... the one thats like a 20 yard lateral at or on the line of scrimmage that nets -.5 yards a play...  like can we please stop that... like don't do that ever...  and maybe re work the screen game bit... maybe..

Even LaPorta , while still solid last year, came back to reality some last year

They extended Brown rather quietly last season about a week or so before the season started. I think given that Cook was in a holdout type situation they were probably more motivated on that front.

I am hoping that they are quietly working on a 3-4 year extension for McGovern. I get that you can’t keep everyone but the Bills should be able to keep McGovern on a solid number to keep 4/5 offensive line spots intact. Let Edwards walk to save some money and cut Samuel and get Knox to take a cut if you need to find the money

The Bills had 6 picks in 2023 two being in the 7th round. If Kincaid rebounds to his rookie year form the team will have gotten two plug and play starters on the offense in Torrence and Kincaid and a starter on defense in Williams possibly. That’s 3 starters out of a draft that didn’t have a ton of capital.

I agree that if Kincaid is a bust then it’s a lackluster draft class but not a tragic one.

Yea like I said earlier I think McGovern is now the priority. Edwards and Torrence are the two based on historical philosophy that are going to be replaced. Good news is the Bills look like they have some young capable lineman to fill in the gaps or the draft capital to add to the interior OL in the next couple of drafts
