Doesn’t mean he will be a legit QB1, but he doesn’t suck like the training camp beat writers suggested. im not trying to hang on a single drill on Thursday afternoon nor a guy completing 60% at 6 ypa in fancy practice on a Friday night in August he played ok in a couple quarters of a scrimmage but that’s synced up with drew lock and cooper rush for completion percentage and yards per attempt last year. I’m also not going to beat him down on the numbers as I get it’s backups and manufactured situational calls etc… and not a real game either. 1 Quote

Watkins90 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I'm rewatching the game on NFL Network right now. He isn't doing very well against the Panthers 1s. First two drives were busts. Quote

SCBills Posted August 9 Posted August 9 If im Browns fan, I’d want them to start Sanders this year. He clearly has talent. His issue, based on his Colorado tape, will be negative plays. Which isn’t unique to a rookie QB, but his negative plays are insanely negative. Like 20 yard sacks negative. 1 Quote

JakeFrommStateFarm Posted August 9 Posted August 9 (edited) I thought Sanders looked good. He was firing darts out there and his 2nd TD was a very nice throws. If I were a Browns fan I would want him to start over Flacco and Pickett Edited August 9 by JakeFrommStateFarm 1 Quote

First two drives were busts. I'm rewatching now and I am only on drive two but his first pass was a bit high in tight coverage but off the hands of his WR. His second pass was completed and the WR ran his route a half yard short of the first down, and they punted. The WR has to know where the pylon is on 3rd down. His second drive he converted he moved the chains with two first downs. One with a pass and one with his legs. To be fair his duck on 2nd and 12 wasn't good and stalled an otherwise good drive. I'm not convinced he's a starter but those drives weren't exactly how you described IMHO. Edited August 9 by Mango Quote

Not because he sucks or whatever, but I do think if Sanders is going to be a franchise QB he needs some time to bake. I'm watching the game now. He certainly made some nice throws. And he is "athletic enough" for today's NFL. But I think he needs to get stronger to play in the league. He really seems to have to heave it into some of those throws. He also sucks at throwing on the run. I'm not QB guru but I think both have to do with not understand good footwork and having a strong base. All that will be much harder to correct in the regular season. Edit: Curious to watch any A22 of this. As the game goes on he tries to squeeze a bunch of balls into windows that are just too dangerous against NFL starters. Edited August 9 by Mango 1 Quote
H2o Posted August 9 Posted August 9 So, here's a cool story. TreVeyon Henderson grew up in the city I live in. Said he was the fastest kid I've ever seen on the field in my almost 50 years of existence. He had a solid career at Ohio St. Now, his first touch in the NFL goes for a TD. Amazing moment for the small city kid from here in Hopewell, VA. 2 Quote
Pecker Posted August 9 Posted August 9 He looked good. He went to his second and third reads. He avoided the rush. He extended plays and made throws. He ran for firsts when needed. Threw the ball away to avoid sacks. there was one screen, where they burnt Carolina who blitzed. I’d like to know if Sanders saw that from the D, and audibled, or if it was chance. If Sanders made the change, that would be another promising sign. Flacco can play, but Kenny picket? Or that other rookie they took? Hard to imagine them both being on the team over Sanders after that game. 2 1 Quote
