If haven't seen The Wire, Oz, The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm those are staples. In terms of now, I don't watch much of their new stuff but I did enjoy their docuseries on The Jinx (both parts). Some under the radar stuff I liked were Life and Times of Tim, Ten Year Old Tom, Lucky Louie The Rehearsal (warning dry humor warning).  White Lotus is good but a tad absurd and not everyone likes it but I'm a fan. My wife loves The Last of Us and Game of Thrones just to name a few.

Warrior was really good if you like martial arts / action shows.  It was also very interesting and not just a bunch of guys punching each other.

I'm very interested in seeing how the coaches handle final cuts. They talk about so many of the "bubble" guys in such great detail. Obviously that's gonna be later in the season but I love seeing the GM/Coaching Staff working on all of these decisions.

Saw some folks mention The Wire, The Sopranos, and some other shows as reasons to justify subscribing to HBO Max. Deadwood and The Leftovers are worth the price of admission alone.

That’s a lot of drinks for one episode Pete.  I remember in my college Fraternity in the late 1980’s we would finish up with dinner and the library.  Then a ton of us would get up to the TV lounge so Sunday Night Star Trek.  All those that attended was required to take a drink every time the doors would open and close.  Swoosh-Drink.  Another scene, Swoosh-drink.

 

Let’s just say Monday mornings were a little more slow moving.  Thank god my first class was typically at 9:10am.

Lot of great content on HBO Max - its worth having IMHO and it also is something that often is included free with cell phone plans or other subscriptions too, so check your cell carrier for discounts or free throw ins.  I had it free for years when I was with ATT, but I am with Verizon now and I get it in a cheap bundle with some other stuff.  

1. Sopranos - epic, top 3 show all time IMHO.
2. Succession - One of the best shows of the past decade IMHO.
3. Game of Thrones - Best of its genre
4. House of Dragon - Also great, same world as Game of Thrones
5. Barry - Excellent - Great balance between comedy, drama and action - more comedy than anything.
6. The Wire - one of the best of its kind.
7. Curb Your Enthusiasm - Uncensored and politically incorrect "Seinfeld" - its excellent.
8. Silicon Valley - Rewatching this again now actually and still hilarious.
9. Entourage - Another all time great comedy loosely based on Mark Wahlberg and Are Emmanuel (head of WME)
10. The Wire - one of the best of its kind.  
11. Eastdown and Bound & Vice Pricinipals - if you like Danny McBride, two hilarious comedy series
12. True Detective - Season 1 especially (each season is different and independent from the others)
13. White Lotus - All seasons have been really good, each season is also different and independent from the others for the most part.
14. The Night Of - One of the all time best limited series shows IMHO
15. The Jinx - Awesome docuseries following alleged killer Robert Durst

There are a lot of other great shows, limited series, documentaries etc all depending on taste, this is just more of a hit list I would start with.  Its really got some of the best original content of any content provider out there IMHO.

Barry and Succession are two of the best original shows on there for sure.  I haven't watched Veep, but Curb is an all time fave for me too.

Life and Times of Tim and Ten Year Old Tom are often overlooked gems lol.  I still need to watch the Last of Us one of these days.

 

NOTE:  Unrelated to HBO - just on the topic of shows - Just finished the first season "Mobland" on Paramount+ (by Guy Ritchie) and it was awesome.

Chernobyl and Sharp Objects are two really good HBO mini series if you like darker dramas.

Haven’t seen either yet, but Chernobyl is one I’ve been meaning to jump on one of these days.  I’m not familiar with Sharp Objects, but will check it out.

It won’t be boring, it’s a show focused on the players, the people, the team, behind the scenes.  It’s not a show focused on camp news, player evaluations, etc. that we mostly discuss here.  While some do that naturally is covered, it’s not the meat of the show.
 

I can’t wait personally, and the couple clips that have come out like Tre Messing with the water boy, all look fun and entertaining.
