Everyone complaining about Parsons/McLaurin/Hendrickson cost, when in reality, not only would we get a bonafide SuperStar, but we could stop spinning our wheel at DL or WR. I know we havent drafted a ton of WR's, but we've certainly spent enough bargain bin $$ failing to address the position meaningfully. As for DL, it feels like we've unsuccessfully used two-thirds of our picks on that unit with not much to show. I am a huge Beane fan, but damn this eats me up.... we're not getting enough out of the position, we're spending resources heavily. Time to get out of purgatory, get the elite production we need, and it's a one time investment instead of recurring. I mean if we had top 15 pics for the last x amount of years it's easier to get a wide receiver who's going to be long-term productive for the number one role We have drafted NFL caliber wide receivers who can play in the league.. zay, shakir, Gabe, all our guys who got second deals in the NFL... It's tough to find a true number one at that spot And you have a higher chance of getting them early.. like there's even no question that Coleman could be a better wide receiver and have a better career than Xavier Worthy Picking guys at 28 is no guarantee of anything at wide receiver Same thing with Edge rusher.. you need to get really lucky to hit on those guys 25 to 50 You have a chance to take one in the top 15 it's a lot more of a chance they're big time.. because rushers with those blue chip traits don't fall It's easier to find a defensive tackle 30 through 70 who might break out... Walker and Sanders are going to improve our interior instantly in the regular season It's tougher to find a edge rusher at 70... Gregg r is almost as good as historically it gets where we drafted him ... If he had more elite pass rushing traits he would not have lasted to where we took him.. we've had to develop him and we did Edited August 22 by Buffalo716 4 1 Quote

It would’ve been another AFC contender and we’d have to deal with him in the playoffs. This way- parsons is irrelevant for the next 3 years. Sounds good to me 1 Quote

Parson has been All Pro. Might be the most physically gifted player on defense in the NFL. 6-3 250 plus runs 4.3. Quote

It easy to say that when you’re not the one that has to deal with making him the highest paid non QB in nfl history. I’d love to have him. I don’t think it’s conceivable. Quote

You’re not finding a talent like Parson in 26 or 27. The core is pretty well locked in. The cap is about to balloon. If there was ever a time it is now. 1 Quote
SCBills Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 Seems like Parsons will have to force his way out. If he gives an inkling he’s willing to play this year, Jones won’t move him. Quote
sven233 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 For those saying Beane wouldn't trade 2 firsts for Parsons, maybe that's right. But maybe it's not. Beane has made it very clear that a premier pass rusher would be his dream add to this team. Not only with the Von signing or the Bosa experiment this year, but he just came out and admitted a week or 2 ago that if he could add 1 player to our team from any other teams in the league, it would be Myles Garrett. Is Parsons as good as Garrett? No. But he is still one of the best pass rushers in the league and I am guessing Beane would absolutely be interested in adding him if he does become available. Would he trade 2 firsts to get him? I don't know. Maybe. The problem is the contract. To get him in, we would need to restructure a couple guys and trade a couple players away. It's absolutely possible to do. But will he want to trade 2 firsts and 2 players? I am guessing not. So, it's trying to figure out a compromise. All things being equal an I trading 2 firsts for him? If that is what gets it done, I am. We only have so many kicks at the can left with Allen in his prime and it's time to go all in. And while losing 2 firsts would hurt, theoretically they will be very late firsts. And trading up in the 2nd round is a lot easier to do than trading up in the first. So, you still want a pick in the 30s? You can make that happen if you want to. But there are only a couple of guys in the league better at Parsons in terms of rushing the passer. But a guy at his age at that quality doesn't come available that often. Sometimes you just have to take a swing. In the end, though, I highly doubt he ends up being traded. Quote
Blank Stare Posted August 22 Posted August 22 1 hour ago, Warriorspikes51 said: it won't. Beane isn't giving up 2 1sts + players He should. This team is desperate for an elite pass rusher. Has been for years and they can’t get it right. Closest they got was Von for half a season. If acquiring him is even remotely possible, you do it and don’t look back. Quote
