Pete Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I met OJ as a young kid, when I was with my Father, who was looking at suits, at Sims in the mid 70s. Going 0 for the 70s, I remember the jingle "Miami might have the Orange Bowl, but Buffalo has the Juice. Bills would not still be in Buffalo if not for the Juice. I loved OJ in Naked Gun films. We have so many happy memories of OJ. We all know the tragic and cruel ending between OJ, Nicole, and Ron, and rightfully OJ is vilified. But to us older Bills fans, OJ was larger than life, prior to his demise. Please post some good OJ memories. Who was at the Jets game when OJ went over 2000? Who has met OJ? 6 5 Quote
Gregg Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I was at the Jets vs Bills at Shea in 1973. I was 5 at the time so I can't say I have a memory of it, but I was there according to my dad. 2 1 Quote
nosejob Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I became a fan at 10, while watching a game in Dec. 1973. It was what the old folks had on the telly. I was the only kid there. Quite a game. 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted July 29 Posted July 29 He signed a football for me mid-year of his famous 1973 record setting season. The signature is pretty faded now, over 50 years later, but it’s still there if you look close. 1 2 Quote
17islongenough Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I think i was at the same game as him a couple of years ago Quote
eball Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) My dad worked for the telephone company in the 70s. Once when the installers went on strike he had to go out into the field...he had a housecall at OJ's place. When he went over OJ and Joe D were there...he got me two signed B&W photos I still have today. One of the earliest Bills games I recall watching was a game in Miami when OJ ran wild, even though (of course) the Bills lost. I think it was 1976. Edited July 29 by eball 3 2 Quote

mphs mike Posted July 29 Posted July 29 My first Bills game was at War Memorial in 69. The Juice was a rookie, the Bills beat the Dolphins, and then "O for the 70's" commenced. 1 Quote
ticketssince61 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Met him 2X - his rookie year at training camp - he was up against the goalpost surrounded by throngs of people looking for autographs - at the game against the Jets (sometime in the 80's) where his jersey was retired. Saw him leaving the owner's box and ran after him to get him to sign the poster they had given out from a purely football perspective, still think he was the greatest RB of all time. From a personal life perspective, one of the worst RB's of all time 2 Quote
Walking Tall Posted July 29 Posted July 29 The Bills would definitely still be in Buffalo without OJ. The agreement to build Rich Stadium was in place while OJ still had not accomplished anything with the Bills. And for the five years he played in Rich, the last two years the Bills sucked and started getting paltry crowds. 1 2 Quote

Where an educated consumer is our best customer. Memory is a funny thing, but I swear they had a commercial in every Bills game I watched. 2 Quote
ControllerOfPlanetX Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Your father must have been an educated consumer, because I heard they were Sims’s best customers. 2 Quote

Utah John Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) I have never had a problem distinguishing between OJ the player and OJ the man. I agree he was one of the very best RBs, possibly the best really, of all time. That 14 game record in 1973 will never be broken, and his 1975 season was actually even better. I also enjoy Kevin Spacey, Woody Allen, and Roman Polanski movies. I am not blind to their faults but their work is excellent. Edited July 29 by Utah John 2 3 2 Quote

My problem is that, whenever I start to think about my good OJ memories, I begin to feel guilty about it. So, then I think - OJ, why did you have to do what you did? You were such a good player and such a seemingly nice representative of Buffalo and my childhood. That leads me to feeling guilty again, this time because I am feeling sorry he messed up my memories as if I was some sort of victim, when the real victims are the people who are dead and those that knew them. OJ is a difficult minefield for me to navigate. 3 Quote
